- Fishing Fort Yargo is tough but downsizing will get your more fish hook-ups. Size does matter! Bigger isn't always better and smaller isn't always satisfying so size up your prey and downsize your bait to catch more fish. 🔔 Please remember to give a thumbs up and click the subscribe icon if you enjoyed the video! Hey man just came across your channel. I fish there alot in kayak. I appreciate the tips on down sizing. See ya out there
What's up Bro! Yeah....Fort Yargo has been a tough cookie for me but I'm slowly getting it figured out. It has sizeable Bass there but they play hard to get. 😂 Thanks for checking out the channel and dropping a comment. See you on the water. 👍🏾
we were felling the same way about hard labor reservoir
I have a friend that fishes Hard Labor and catches bass and the occasional catfish there. It can be tough like Fort Yargo but the serenity of that place makes up for it. Keep at it! Thanks for stopping by the channel.
Put in at site b...go right under the bridge..all the way to the back there are 4 small coves...giants live in that shalllow water back there..got my pb back there
Guess what area I'm hittin next trip to Yargo? 😂 I appreciate the in bruh. Tight Lines!!
You should try out Cole’s Lake in Athens
Just Googled Mapped it! What species of fish does it hold and is the fishing good?
@@MarvelousMarvFishingForLifeSome pretty decent largemouth and the fishing is pretty solid
@@battlejacketnation9005 I'll have to check it out someday and post a vid of how things turn out. Thanks for the info!
You can catch a big fish on a small bait but you rarely catch a small fish on a big bait.
Go small for quantity, go big for trophies, but expect more skunks.
That totally makes sense Dalton! Thank you Sir!
You knew that already, I was just breaking it down for everyone else.
👍🏽
I gave up on fort yargo a long time ago. I have caught more crappie and catfish on bass tackle then bass out there. They really need to cut off fishing out there for a 6 months or so. The natural bait out there is out of control out there.
I feel your frustration bro! I have been lucky a time or two with the bass out there but that place is tough. I have caught a few Crappie as well but no catfish. If I hadn't caught any fish in this video, I definitely would have left that place alone for the rest of the year.
Man, I’ve been out there and can’t catch 💩. 😑
I have had a couple decent days out there but have had plenty more days where I caught one dink or got completely skunked. It's tough out there brother!
Back to back because you are fishing my flat.
🤣 Why am I not surprised....
what is the gear you are using?
Abu Garcia 7'0 Vendetta rod and reel combo. 8lb mono and 1/8 ounce ball Jighead with a 2.8 inch kietech swimbait.
Looked like a fun day of fishing! Hay as long as your having fun fishing that's all that counts bro! Awesome video!🎣👍⭐️💯
Thanks Domingo! I struggled at first but yes....any day out on the water is a great day!
Fishing is 50% landing the fish, 50% being out in nature … just as long as your not skunked.
If you don’t show yourself unhooking the fish, it’s harder to gauge the size 🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing!
Great point! 😂
What sonar do you use? I would like to buy one for my kayak.
Thanks for stopping by the channel. I have the Garmin STRIKER Vivid 4cv Fish Finder. What does downsizing mean
In this case, downsizing means using a smaller profile lure than you're use to using. For example if you're fishing a 4 inch swimbait and you're not catching any fish so you decide to fish a 3 inch swimbait and start catching fish consistently, that's considered downsizing.
@@MarvelousMarvFishingForLife oh ok thanks for the lesson I went out there today to the fort and got two serious bites didn’t manage to set and caught 4 small brim very little action today although there were some lovely sized fish bass that were constantly breaching idk what to do to get their attention.
Fish around any visible structure (fallen trees, stumps, bridge pilings etc) for starters and see if that increases the # of bites you get.
Nice video. You have the right idea for sure, it can make or break a days fishing.
When I fish fresh water so I use smaller hooks. (the bass spinners have fairly large hooks, but the bass dont mind), I use a size 6 small hook with garden worms for the bass and carp, (they could chomp a bigger hook, but it works) and a small size 10 with worms for small mullet and herring.
In the salt, depends what im chasing, I use, normally a 2/0 long shank for bream and flathead, thats up river, sometimes I go to a 2 or 4 smaller....or if its in the harbour, and Im usually chasing bigger fish, as 6/0 circle hook or bigger (sharks, kingfish, rock cods, big mulloway) most of the time, but I will use a 2/0 or smaller if im after smaller size fish like leatherjacket or snapper.
Thanks for sharing Dave! You covered it all, fresh and saltwater. It's been decades since I have fished for any saltwater species as the distance for travel is much greater than the fresh water areas that I have access to. Thanks again for sharing!
dont give up fort yargo 😂
Do give up on ft Yargo! 😂
🤣
Well....since I hooked a few, I guess I'll be back out there. 😂
Nope, don't count unless they're boated, or in your case kayaked! Lol! Where can I get a pair of fingerless gloves like the ones you're wearin in this great video brother?!
I knew you wouldn't let it fly TC! 🤣 The fingerless gloves are just okay. I got them to protect my hands as they are suppose to provide a level of UV protection from the scorching sun but they haven't done the job as expected.
