  • Dr. Rishi Prasad demonstrates the use of poultry litter in dryland corn production and the amount of nitrogen fertilizer needed at V6 stage to reach optimum yield. The use of excessive rates of nitrogen results in greater losses to the environment. By cutting down fertilizers rates, farmers can save money all while obtaining optimum yields and reducing nitrogen losses to the environment.

well that is all fine and dandy at the 2 ton to the acre rate, but here in the wiregrass the average ton per acre rate on chicken litter is 4t to the acre so a more accurate test with the right rate would be nice to see to where it cuts down on the need for side dress, and saves the farmer even more money with the fuel prices 5 dollars a gallon, and u can cut out the two to three exra gallons per acre in fuel!
