What's your preferred sharpening method? Do you use stones, diamonds, or something else? Let us know in the comments!

Does using the back of the knife work to sharpen the knife? When I was working with food I would see the cooks do that

Using the back of another knife straightens the edge. It's called honing the blade. We actually made a video about it a while back! czcams.com/video/CGC0Yq1OAEA/video.html

I love you tube. For all the bad and good it produces, this is the most useful. Information. I bought a carborundum stone to sharpen my butcher knife with, realized I had no idea what i was going to do, and looked it up on you tube. And by golly, there is a tutorial.

Thanks for the video I actually like just the sounds of knives being sharpened. Its a satisfying sound to me.

I agree! Maybe we should make a video of just sharpening sounds...

I think the real key is staying consistent with whatever you choose as a method. The circular motion is important because it catches those areas on the curve that many pull through type sharpeners neglect. A nice clever should be in every toolbox. Have a great weekend! (what's left, LOL) :)

Consistency is definitely key. Good to hear from you, enjoy your weekend!

Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

I'm (extremely) new to sharpening (never had to sharpen anything else than a kitchen knife and I usualy did it in a grinding wheel) and I'm been trying to sharpen my knives with carborundum, but it seems to take FOR EVER to sharpen just a little bit. How much time does you spend in this circular motion for each part to get a nice edge? I think I may be overgrinding it. I don't think it's the angle since I'm matching the bevel to the stone and keeping my finger positioned in the spine so the angle doesn't change.

    Here it is!
    I use whetstones waterstones whateverstones.
So it’s an outdoor chopper? Chopping bones, chopping wood, what’s the difference 🤷🏽‍♂️

Exactly, it's good for chopping anything! Could use a little TLC though.
