Check out this real 242 GTO! This car was originally born in California and stayed there until about twenty years ago when it was brought to Michigan. The car was sold six years ago to the gentleman that we bought it from. He did a full rotisserie restoration on it. The only metal that was replaced on it was the rear quarters, but it is almost impossible to tell that they are replacement. There was no expense spared on this restoration!
A copy of the April/May 1968 issue of Cars Illustrated magazine featuring a red 1968 GTO and a 1968 Pontiac dealership brochure is included in the sale.

My dad used to have a 68 just like this, it needed fixes and all the body creaked, I was a little girl and my sister and I constantly made fun of the car, until one day my father repaired it, repainted it and changed the interior. Then I fell in love with the car, but my father sold it, so, now it is my dream car and I hope someday I could get one for me. One day I asked him, if he knew who had the car, but he told me that he thinks it was taken from Central America, which is where we lived, to the United States.
I bought this very same model and color back in 1967 . A brand new 1968 GTO for $ 3600. That's about a buck a pound. I had it 6 months and some drunk T boned me I had to be cut out of the vehicle. I loved that car . I went from that to a 68 Volkswagen Beetle for about $1,600 because that's all I could afford after the accident and medical bills .

That car is rock solid. Hearing that passenger door close it sounds tight.

Very nice GTO.
Had a GTO just like the one you show red, 400/360hp with Hooker Headers, #850 Holley center-feed carb, with a 302 Hydraulic Crowler cam, M-21 4 spd. 4:30 rear end ratio, Mickey Thompson with deep dish crager ss mags, all the way round. You should examine the throb of the engine, sounds like wrist pin ticking 1974 block should have been replaced with a 1970 455, when these engines had a thicker casting of motors for high heat range at their peak…………….

This is the most GTO model and at all is the most shape we can call it GTO
sweet car i just seen one that was a crime against muscle cars! the cam was barely over stock the exhaust ran straight out the back and sounded like shit! the door was wrinkled beyond repair id be embarrased to drive it! it was criminal!
