    Thanks for answering my question. The Hawaiian hibiscus 🌺 is resting in peace. (A moment of silence for my hibiscus) But as all gardeners know, this created an opportunity for a new plant!

    😅 I initially thought I was a “bad gardener” when I’d plop my shrubs/plant without amending my clay soil and just reusing the “native soil” back in but so far they’ve been thriving and none have died 🙏🏼

    The first time I planted Asparagus roots upside down years ago thinking those long thin things were asparagus stems ha. Then I looked out the window at them and thought hmmm. Looks like ponytails sticking out of the ground. Hahaha. Always fun to have the bird man on. We enjoy the bluebirds out the window and sometimes can catch their babies fledge. You talked me into trying those Lets Dance Can do Hydrangeas. I don't think I can take another year of my Blue Nikko never blooming since I moved it 4 years ago. MS zone 7b.

    The only reason I did not cut back my Macrofilia Hydrangea's, and I was going to, is because somewhere earlier on in the year I heard that the stems needed to harden and become woody so as to be able to support the weight of the flower heads and so I am extremely grateful for that bit of knowledge. I didn't cut back any of my now many Hydrangea plants and they all are forming flowers, so exciting here in Adelaide South Australia.

    I have a big 🍃 🍂 hydrangea that hasn't bloomed in thee years. I've never cut it back. It bloomed great the first four years. It's a big and has beautiful foliage but I miss seeing blooms. I'm now considering pulling it out and planting something new in the Spring. I'm in zone 6B

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that, it can be frustrating when that happens! There could be a few different reasons as to why this is happening. If you know what type of hydrangea it is, you can go through this pruning chart and see if any fit your situation - www.provenwinners.com/Hydrangeas-Demystified
      If not, you can send us a photo to help@gardeningsimplifiedonair.com and we can take a look to see what's going on.

    Where can I get that page you just showed on hydrangea. And is there anymore pages like that. Proven winners should put out a booklet or app to show pages like that that really helps people like me that have to read things over again to remember things. A book of references!

    I will not plant more hydrangeas even though I love them because I’m tired of spraying them with deer repellent. My limelight hydrangea ( like many of my evergreens) is “topped up” from deer browsing.

    I’m a 1st time planter of hydrangea. Let’s dance can do was my 1st! Hahaha I love them but they got black spots in the leaves. I live in Shepherdsville Ky. zone 6. I haven’t gotten my irrigation in yet and I overhead water and we do deal with high humidity. I watch Gardening with Creekside and Jenny mention about the humidity but their zone 7 there. Will it help when I put in my irrigation?

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yay! It's such an awesome plant, especially for your first hydrangea! 🤗 Yes, once you are able to have your irrigation set up and the hydrangea is getting watered at the base, it will help with the spots on the foliage. ☺

    I live in South Texas near Houston. The tags on most of the Let’s Dance series of Hydrangeas tell you they can take FULL SUN. I know that can not be true for south Texas. So, I planted mine in sun up until 1:30- 2:00 and they still struggled. So plant companies must do better on the tags. It’s not a one size fits all. Just like the White Wedding. My son bought three of them thinking that he would put them in the same condition I had my Let’s Dance in. They fried! He watered and watered… but it’s just too hot in Texas for anything to be listed “ full sun”.

    • @reneethomson3202

      I do want to add that it was absolutely beautiful in the spring when I planted it. I did dig it up and move it and it bounced back even in our heat. I haven’t given up. I LOVE this plant and the brother of it , “ a wee bit grumpy. “ I’ll keep trying.

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  Před 9 měsíci

      We're sorry for the confusion - unfortunately, it's not feasible for us to have regional tags that give specific recommendations based on where they are shipped. This is one of the many reasons we encourage people to shop at a local garden center where they can get local perspective and expertise. They should be able to help give more specific growing recommendations for your area 🙂

    Talk about mistakes, is there any reason not to grow different types of hydrangeas together? I am zone 5a and in a new house with a blank yard(after I clear it) and I want lots of hydrangeas. So far, I have a couple of Tardivia, Chantilly Lace, Annabelle,Paniculata Webb and a couple others from Home Depot. Most of these I have gotten from a home garden nursery. I know to do them by height and if they need sun or shade but can they all live happily ever after grouped together? Thank you

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  Před 10 měsíci +1

      This is a great question! As long as you have the proper growing conditions and make sure they're hardy to your growing zone, you can have as many as you would like! 😄 Mixing different types together can be really stunning and it sounds like you have a great start on a beautiful garden 🤗

    I have this hydrangea and a very popular Instagram gardener said if I live in zone 5b , I have to protect the buds from winter frost in my zone . Is this true that I have to protect it with frost cloth ?

    • @pwcolorchoice
      @pwcolorchoice  Před 10 měsíci +1

      With Bigleaf hydrangeas, you can protect the buds over winter, which we have a video on that here - czcams.com/video/vHKkDeFbUv8/video.html
      You don't have to specifically use a frost cloth, you just want something that will protect the bugs from the elements but also allows for some air flow so the plant doesn't remain moist while it's covered. The cool thing with Let's Dance Can Do! Is that it forms flower buds on both old and new wood so even if the old wood buds had gotten damaged during the winter, you would still get flowers from those new wood buds ☺
