- Welcome to the start of a new series! I was inspired to make this after the success of my video on the Facets and Varajar fells. There are a lot of cool mysteries in Gw2 I guess I've spent too long assuming are common knowledge, or are still left over from the first game and weren't revisted by Gw2 at launch. In this series I'll be showing that stuff off, and maybe I'll respark some interest in Tyria while I'm at it.
And this is where you can go back and say.... "I nailed it." Grats WoodenPotatoes!
I nailed it!..Some of it.
I want to congratulate you sir. GOOD WORK!
Looking back on this is very entertaining to see your predictions come true. Satisfaction overload :D
Alex Cope Hehe, thanks! Me too! :D
This is incredible! :D
Speculation works. You throw enough darts, you're bound to hit something... But this was a bullseye.
Agreed, I remember watching this a while back and came back to it today.
WoodenPotatoes As someone who has only just started to delve into GW2 lore proper and not fully read up on the game and what's happening with HoT, could you perhaps expand on how right you were, what aspects did you predict, and just how much 'told you so factor' was told? I genuinely would like to know.
(And wow this could read like me trying to call you out, not the case!)
holy shit you were right
You got everything right... you were closer than the Simpsons could ever got on anything
HoT confirmed :3 You were right all along.
This is so awesome. You were competely right!
The dragon wasn't in the jungle, it was the jungle. DA DA DAH. Just kidding. I really want to find out though.
+hal fryer
And 2 years later, you were correct :3
This comment aged well
NAILED IT
And with todays patch, Welcome to GW2 Mordremoth, the 6th elder dragon! Thank you Scarlet.
its actually insane. i just found this channel. 10 years later watching this video and a lot of stuff you said actually happened.you have some amazing detective skills XD if i was playing the game that early on i could never have tied these things together
Yep! This video was annoying to make because of vegas bugs so I've just been contesting with it the entire time since infinite launched. I'm about to get a nice cup of tea and sink in to it. Can't wait!
Still a great video to come back and rewatch.
I'm guessing now we can assume that the Inquest knew of Mordremoth partially due to Scarlett's involvement.
Been watching your vids for a while. You have plenty of unconfirmed yet very interesting hypotheses around the lore, but this time you really hit the nail on the head.
You gathered the info from from obscure interviews, names of enemy attacks, old gw1 lore...and guessed what was coming a year before Mordremoth's "release". Kudos to you :D
I just came up with a crazy theory maybe the Sylvari were created by the jungle dragon to sub conscientiously act as the dragons eyes and ears as a means to explore the world and gain knowledge of it and its people, and the pale tree they interact with could actually be a fake and its the jungle dragon pretending to be the real one
***** i was thinking the same thing maybe the whole reason the dragons awoke was to declare war against each other and they just see the races as resources they can use to strengthen there influence.
I'd love to see a gigantic war between two elder dragons! Kralk has a bit of a length advantage though XD really cool theory!
xMckingwill you are apparently a genius and you will know when you are up to date about gw2 :D
jesus you were right on point thats actually exactly it
Damn spot on theory.
WP, watch your own video again and keep in mind what we know today about the Living World. Some things start to really make sense. The Interview mistake, the book, ... It seems like they had the rough outline for the living world finale planned for a very long time. Makes me very exciting.
You can tell lore so well, normally I don't really care for lore, but you bring it in such way that it always amazes and intrigues me. Keep it going!
Oh my.. Dude you were so right from the very beginning. Every little detail you found, every hint you have given us, everything was right. It's incredible how clever you are. I'd love to see you do another gw2 mysteries video about updates to come, I guess you'd be right again =)
Damn man. How big of a brain do you have!? I can't even remember things from big story lines and you keep remembering tiny fun tidbits of information and conversation and connecting them.
Seriously. so much respect. especially because you can tell all of this in an interesting way!
So cool to see how accurate your predictions were. And looking back at what we thought the expansion could be like now that we are so close to HoT release date!
Great video, keep it up
I really like your videos about GWII Mysteries. The way you make links between GW & GWII is refreshning for someone like me who played GW when it first came out in 2005... as my memory of the history in the game isn't so good, it helps a lot! :) Also your hypothesis about the following of the scenario are great!
I like have long discussions too, but most people aren't willing to listen to it at length. I do apologise to anyone who watches this and has already heard me speak of modremoth!
Awesome and thank you WoodenPotatoes for these videos and all you do.
I got into Guild Wars 2 about 2 weeks ago and have seeing your lore videos has helped me get up to speed with this beautiful and amazing world.
I will keep playing and watching your videos.
Thanks again.
It's rather impressive how you find these information and make those conclusion. It's just impressive man, good video, keep up with the good work!
with HoT comming soon this was fun to watch as I actually learned some things even though I knew of Mordremoth already from so much being mentioned now but I never thought of all this from CoE and this makes me want to look more into the game itself and the lore
Even though I've stopped playing gw2 I find your lore videos truly captivating. Keep it up!
This is some really interesting stuff. I'm always looking for little hidden bits of lore like this. Well done on piecing this together. I would have never even thought to check the combat log like that.
dude.... you just foretold the future. my mind is blown (PS hi from the future.... scarlet woke him up.... he doesn't sound very happy)
WP, you are still my #1 source for Guild Wars related subjects on youtube!
Looking forward to the next vids
Loved the video! This lore is what I still love about GW2, even though I don't play it all that often right now.
The ending music is also awesome btw :D
Great video mate. I'm so happy to see GW2 CZcamsrs doing stuff like this for the games fans :)
I love cool secret things like this! I'm far too stupid to realize any of it walking around Tyria by myself though, I even talked to that NPC once... That said, this episode was really good and I'm looking forward to more of the series, I like how it is serious with the lore yet with a few jokes here and there :)
If Mordremoth and the Maguuma wastes end up being an expansion, huge huge ups to Anet for hiding something that big in plain sight and basically letting us figure out how the game will play out in an expansion.
Johansen mentioned it in an interview? Cool. Love the idea of this series. I like when you talk about this stuff because you look a lot more into stuff like this than I do. Keep 'em coming. :)
Great Video WP. It's 'hidden' small things placed into games like this that makes games and stories so compelling!
This whole theory got me thinking about one think. It seems each race is tied to one dragon in particular: Zhaitan= Human, Jormag = Norn, Primordius = Asura, Kralkatorrik = Charr, Mordremoth = Sylvari and Bubble = ???. Which also got me thinking that 6 dragons might actually needs 6 races to fight them. Well maybe, just maybe, Bubble = Largos? This could open up possibilities for an underwater expansion where the largos would be playable.
Great video anyway. Keep up the good work!
Really looking forward to what this series has to offer going forward. This video was awesome, can't wait for more :D
Yes, please do keep this series going. Very intriguing stuff! Thank you.
Fascinating beyond all reason. Love the content, love the endslate. Keep it up, WP!
So basically, if we kill all of the elder dragons, by the time we get to Bubbles, we will not only have to fight using underwater abilities, but all of it's minions will be as strong as Subject Alpha (plus underwater abilities). Fun!
Definitely interesting how the Inquest already kind of grasped magic's spectrum and were able to use them. I would like to have some sort of in-game acknowledgement of the Inquest's involvement again. Last time they were really important was back in LW S2. Taimi, if she ever got any free time, may be able to connect a lot more pieces, if she looked at the Inquest's work.
Really cool video. The suspence, the music and all the sense it made! I want to see more!
Absolutely love it, keep it up WP. Tyria lore is fascinating, thanks for sharing!
Love the idea of the series. It would be interesting to see if they push further on this path, we would possibly end up finding Malyck's sylvari tree and more sylvari deeper within Maguuma. All assuming Malyck and related content pointing towards more sylvari trees could stand as true. Possibly even more Sylvari trees as the major cities within the region (similar to how LA, Divinity, Hoelbrak, etc are the towns for Tyria at the moment). Yeah definitely keep up with this series haha
Haha, I was wondering how long until someone would comment on the preview :P. It's footage leftover from a long time I spent making an intro that didn't use in the end.
Please don't give up on this series! Your stuff is so great!
It is possible, yeah! I always thought it was primordus responsible for what happened to maguuma before now.
hahah, I love the humor you snuck into this video, I love it! :D great job WP, I'm eagerly awaiting more (the Subject Alpha part blew my mind honestly)
Your videos have made me desire to talk to every NPC I come across. Great job man.
Great idea for a series WP.
We need someone who knows a lot of lore for stuf like this. Given how interesting you made this kind of things in gw1 LPay i'm looking forward to more.
Lovin the outro music. This videos got me excited about GW lore
Great video WP! It's a good thing that you do this kind of stuff because I've would never had guess that the crucible of eternity had anything to do with the elder dragons (even though it seems kind of obvious now). Nor would I've ever had found the NPC at the durman priory. Thanks for the information :)
This is great, keep doing these mystery videos! Very intriguing stuff, everyone loves speculating about the unknown, theories, conspiracy and stuff.
I think this is a cool new format, good work :D Hope there are enough "mysteries" to cover in the future.
...and I'd be cool with more underwater in gw2, actually :P
This was right up my alley. Enthralling, nice stuff!
Mordremoth, such a powerful name. Awesome series dude, keep up the great work!
I don't even play the game anymore. I still come here because your videos are amazing.
Best video I've seen from you in a while!
... And considering that I follow all of your videos quite religiously that's saying something. Keep the mystery-thing going WP :)
Awesome video, I love the lore in Guild Wars and you really bring it to life. Most impressed, also good art work hehe
This is gonna be an awesome series! really looking forward to more of these videos!
Fantastic! Much as I enjoy your other content, this is the area in which you (at least in my opinion) truly shine. I look forward to further instalments.
Like the endslates by the way, could do with a bit more finessing of the artwork but as a concept it looks like a step up for you.
This was interesting to watch. Definitely made me wanna go back to Brisban to see if I could find anything. Never noticed that about Alpha's attacks either. The more you know!
Been waiting for a video like this for a long time. Thanks WP. You just made my day. (:
That Colin interview. o.O For the rest: I followed the guru discussion about this closely (earlier) but it was nice to hear you summing it up (I would've missed the interview, too..). I like the idea that the jungle dragon started awakening in gw1 time and slowly dried up the area in process. I would also bring up that (as you mentioned) the inquest may have been in contact with the dragon. The area around the gate you showed in the beginning is about the inquest, nm court and seperatists
Brilliant! Love the endslate, love the mysteries, keep them coming!
The endslate was awesome, and keep up the awesome work!
Was in my feeder today. Had a bit of a giggle when watching it since this was before any expac, I guess Colin knew then already about Mordremoth and HoT back then =)
The sylvari, the nature dragon, the human gods, Orr... It really is all connected.
I only got in to the game with Heart of Thorns. I had no idea that the total number of dragons was initially in question. I knew Mordremoth was hidden, but had no idea that the game was so cagey about delivering any information about Mordy at the time.
Awesome stuff. Love the new GW2 Mysteries Series. Keep it up.
Amazing artwork! well done! Would love to see this series live on. High quality videos about the more interesting mysteries within the GW universe. Personally, this sixth dragon feels more fleshed out than bubbles, who we dont have any information or any interesting theories on. If one were to believe in the theories for this one, it has a name, a champion, and plenty of minions spread across the world, whilst bubbles just feels slapped on at the end as a tease of things to come.
This is really really awesome! LOVE your videos on lore man, keep it up Mr Potatoes
Excellent speculation. :)
You got it almost spot on!
This is so much fun to watch right now.
Hey, WoodenPotatoes! Just made an account to post this: Great work with this video! You always have me intrigued with the stories and lore you portray so brilliantly in every video. I played through all GW1 campaigns and never saw even half the things you mention in your videos. It's great to have someone on CZcams able to catalog and organize all the awesome content ArenaNet has implemented over the years in such an entertaining way.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
Loving the series already, can't wait to see more.
Beautiful Video!! so much story i am so happy to be part of GW
Trueclaw! SHE be infiltratin'! Ah well, figures. Anyway, nice video, never did CoE explorable path anything (don't really watch the combat logs either). This is quite interesting, and I like the series idea, as well as your end video selection. Glad I was able to get up and enjoy some:
Wooden Potatoes
Nourishment (10 m): +10% Lore Find
+10% Experience from Lore.
I'm soo pumped for this new series!! Please release these vids often (:
This is awesome! Your art skills are crazy good as well! I love that you've gone into uber depth about the lore - something I think all players should have a decent handle on!
Perhaps Mordremoth woke up because he wanted to show the people of Gw2 that a dragon fight could be interesting, considering how the Zhaitan fight went.
Imagine watching this before the expansion and living world seasons came out
The hype and speculation would be pretty cool.
HECK YEAH! that's what I've been waiting for :D great job WP, keep the series going!
i love your videos, the most GW geeky channel on YT
i'm already in love with the series!
Another great video!
Please keep this series going, it is so exciting! I just love your lore videos :)
With all these mysteries together with reading the Guild Wars books, I am getting much more attached to the game and feel like it has much more to it than other MMORPGs.
Btw your endslates was a good idea. Keep them :)
Wow, never thought about that. I really like the idea of this series by the way.
Well first off i would like to point out that this is a very interesting topic and series and thank you for doing it. But i would like to also point out that we have only really fought one Elder Dragon then the lieutenants of the others. So in my thoughts are there interesting enough are 6 Elder Dragons but there are other smaller dragons around as well hence lieutenants and so forth. And who knows maybe even a 7th Elder but that one being more of the peaceful good kind. But who knows maybe more lore will show up that we don't know about.
I didn't understand any of this...
This is a nice concise series! I do enjoy the rambling, but it's nice to have the quick stuff just so that I can be aware of the mystery:) Thanks WP! #smackafool
Anet could of course change or deny things in future but that all sounds very compelling and seems to fit together nicely. I quite like the name Mordremoth. It reminds me of Voldemort, very sinister sounding
Watching this video gave me some thoughts on where we might fight the other Elder Dragons.
Primordus: Ring of Fire Island
Jormag: Further of the Far Shiverpeaks
Kralkatorrik: Possibly where Glint used to be hidden
Bubbles:Somewhere out there lol.
lol such accuracy xD
OHSNAP... Mordremoth sure sounds badass enough for an elder dragon. Nice work :)
there is also in the northern part of brisban wildlands a broken bridge that bandits are trying to repair and if you look across you can see one of those things that you see at the entrance to different zones. this is obviously hinting that if they can rebuild the bridge you may be able to one day enter the zone beyond....?
Holy hell man... you are on to something. Mordremoth! I did notice that part of the world is suspiciously empty. Oh and yay for more underwater! I love it!
nice to see videos like this. Its exactly the kind of stuff that got me hooked to your channel :)
Also, that endslate thingy should be cool but maybe with no music or gw2 music fading out or someting imo.
makes me so exited about the future of guild wars 2, subbed!
In Caledon Forest a Sylvari called Gamarien says "I'm scouting Wychmire Swamp for Nightmare Court activity, though I fear an even darker force is at work. I worry these summoned husks are harbingers of that greater foe." This indicates that there is a second source in the creation of Husks in addition to the Nightmare Court being servants of it. This would indicate that the Pale Tree is a former Champion of Mordremoth the same as Glint was the former Champion of Kralkatorrik.
If they do it right, the underwater content with Bubbles could turn out amazing. Giant deep sea instance with a pilot-able submarine. Hell, it could even be a raid. You'd have to fight deeper into the ocean until the sea dragon spawned. Imagine being deep underwater and seeing a giant pair of fins/wings unfold from a black abyss. I would fangirl all over that shit.
I thought this video was made after the expansion, holy shit you were spot on! i should start eating potatoes more...
Funny thing I just met both the deep sea and jungle dragons last week ahahah you could update this really nice content and make new prophecies! You did nail it
holy hell! You and your Sherlock skills!! Loved it!
Love the idea of the series, certainly keep it up!
Before even considering making this video I wrote down about 20 different topics I'd be happy to cover in a notepad file ^^
