OASIS PLEASE GET BACK TOGETHER!!! "(What's The Story) Morning Glory" Reaction/Review

- Oasis are one of the biggest UK rock bands from the 90s. Most people have heard an Oasis song perhaps without even knowing it. Wonderwall being one of the most commonly recognised campfire/pub song I can think of. Though as I have now read they had quite a public breakup in the late 2000's. I decided I wanted to hear a full body of work from the band in what was likely their prime years and hear what their sound was about. I dived in knowing their two biggest hits "Wonderwall" and "Don't look back in anger" and took myself on a journey through some of their other songs. This weeks reaction is "(What's the Story) Morning Glory" By Oasis.
My name is Jack and I love music, in particular Hip Hop, I decided to make this channel as a way to engage with other music lovers and because there doesn't seem to be a lot of reaction channels on CZcams...My goal has always been to be open to all types of music regardless of my love of Hip Hop, on this channel you can expect a rich array of genres. If you're keen to join me on my music journey then please subscribe, if you ever want to give your thoughts on an album or song that I have reacted to, then please do. I want this channel to be a community and if you love music of any genre then welcome!!!

The harmonies on cast no shadow get me every time.
My favourite of theirs, with Stand By Me.
Omg yes finally someone says “don’t look back in anger” is better than wonderwall! True 😭😌
Don't look back in anger is such a hit!
Great reaction. Tough to describe the experience of "Champagne Supernova" in '95 - it was the hymn of a very special moment in time. If you're on an Oasis kick:
👉 _The Masterplan_ (1998) - Noel got adventurous on the B-Sides, the result might just be Oasis' crown jewel album.
Also:
👉 The Verve _Urban Hymns_ (1997) - the _other_ great Manchester band of the '90s, The Verve were a spiritual "brother" to Oasis. _Morning Glory's_ "Cast No Shadow" was written for/about Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, who Noel & Liam worshipped.
A _Kid A_ man, this soulful, soaring, trippy classic may be to your liking.
You literally never disappoint with the recommendations, I have huge backlog of albums I need to listen to thanks to you !! Im super keen to check out the masterplan. Really glad you enjoyed the reaction
Noel Gallagher once said that "Some Might Say" is the song that describes the sound and power of Oasis. I agree.
that song has grown on me so much from the original listen, actually flows really well
definitely maybe is their best album, turned up nice and loud with the lights down for full effect
I was 15 when this came out and it’s been the soundtrack of my life. It’s crazy watching a young chap like yourself review it 👍🏽.
That's what awesome about music, it truly is timeless!
Their debut album definitely maybe is arguably the fan favourite, came out a year before whats the story. Has a different sound, would be worth a reaction imo
Yeah I can now see a lot of people really enjoyed that album! I would be keen to check out definetly maybe at some point soon! Thank you for your comment and checking out the vid!
Really enjoyed your reaction to this. Some Might Say was their first UK number One so holds a special place...Really looking forward to your reaction to Definitely Maybe as some real rock classics on there.
Glad you enjoyed it, am keen to listen to definitely maybe!
Amazing reaction mate thank you. PLEASE DO DEFINITELY MAYBE !!!
Bro, this album is amazing full of cool and well-made songs
Dude you gotta check out their Definitely Maybe album. It’s even better than this album. These 2 albums are what they’re known for. Maybe even check out a live performance? I recommend “roll with it knebworth 96” and “whatever knebworth 96 2nd night” both incredible performances
Oasis live is better than studio
@@masonmennell8514 oasis live is always better even now Liam and Noel get a crowd moving without even moving themselves… suppose that was always same in oasis though.
Thanks James So much good stuff to listen to! Im exited to check out definitely maybe soon! So many people have recommended it! Ill have to check out the live performances as well. I remember when Liam was playing it felt like the whole crowd was floating and the energy and precedes he had on stage was that of a legend of the music world
@@cavemanjack Mate Maine road 2nd night is iconic, be sure to look at that too! You've earned a sub btw
The Masterplan is by far their best album. Stop the clocks is a FANTASTIC compilation album.
It was probably the most important of my life. It not only got me into music generally, but into BritRock; learning and playing guitar; re-discovering the Beatles; and listening to the classic bands that inspired Oasis - Bowie, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones.etc.
Such a masterpiece of an album along with Definitely Maybe.
That's such an awesome story, and what a way to find out about the other classic bands, thanks for sharing Jay!
ello, bruder! luv this video. what's the story (morning glory)? is an oasis trademark, but there is a lot more to dig up.
have noticed that people are already suggesting definitely maybe, you won't regret it. i'm really happy to find a dude who speaks his mind and don't fake feelings when listening to a track, you earn my sub 'cos of this.
mate, i admit with some shame that i've been livin under a musical shell, and thats no good for my personal knowledge. will definitely check out some of your videos and listen to different albums, keep up the good work! ;)
Thank you so much for your comment,
Im very keen to check out definitely maybe soon on the channel, thank your kind feedback, that is one thing I try pride myself in, is authenticity on camera and being myself.
Don't worry it happens to all of us, hence why I have really enjoyed branching out myself in my music discovery. So far has been quite a ride and im loving it
The first album I ever bought, aged 11, and still a favourite.
One of my all time favourite bands you should react to defiantly maybe it’s their best album and be here now is right up there with morning glory for me it amazing as well.
So good to hear they have a good amount of good projects to dive into at some point! Thanks for checking out the vid Neil!
Champagne Supernova snuck up on my CZcams recs when I was 13, browsing nirvana/soundgarden/radiohead videos, and my jaw dropped at how amazing a song could be.
Honestly blew me away that track
Nice thank you!! Live versions and all albums :-)
might not be able to do them all on camera, but am for sure going to do definitely maybe!
I'm part of that oasis fandom thing you said and I can assure you that saying DLBIA is better then Wonderwall isn't going to cause riots, ha.
On a side note definitely keep the honesty in these, that really made me respect your channel ngl. That you aren't going to like every song makes it seem genuine, as this album does have a lot of filler. Even if you didn't like the album I respect the honesty definitely. 👌 Great work!
Thank you so much, I always look at keeping that honesty in these vids, im a huge fan of music don't get me wrong, but im very aware that there is music that hits me and music that doesn't. Thank you for recognising the transparency I like to keep between myself and those who watch! Thank you for your kind comment!
This is one of my favorite albums.
Don’t worry about it man we don’t need to see you react to Wonderwall we already know it’s goated
hahaha Wonderwall will always be cemented in music history
I was thinking too about how Beatles-eque She's Electric feels compared to some of their other songs since the comparison gets brought up a lot.
This album lives in my radio. I feel like the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate the different songs. Wonderwall, Don't look back in Anger and Champagne Supernova were initially my favourites. But over time She's Electric and Morning Glory have claimed the top spots. I hope you listen to more Oasis, there are some really dope songs you haven't heard yet
Such a legendary project!
Definitely Maybe next please.
Hoping to get to definetly maybe one day on the channel !
A must for any fans of the album is another CZcamsr called James Hargreaves, he did an epic video called The Master plan conspiracy where he deconstructs each song and its meaning. The album is basically one year of Noel's life from the day he quit the band while on tour in the States. It's very good!
oh wow that's sick! I love those kind of videos where they do deep dives and then you get a whole new way to look at the album and each of its tracks!
I know this is late, but maybe you would enjoy their song Dyou Know What I Mean, specifically the 2016 rethink by Noel. It sounds super clean and modern, but also just really amazing lol
1 of if not the best album ever !!!
Defintely do more Oasis albums.
Mid-heard lyrics entry;
The second verse of Don’t Look Back In Anger. I noticed Jack sung the line many of us once mistakenly sung
‘If it’s not our day’ but the line is ‘if it’s night or day’
Both work well as a lyric though to be fair!
Greatest song ever. My fave album
Love how Jack calls the guitarist songwriter Noah Gallagher
I may be mishearing, but sure he’s said Noah as his name twice at least. When listening to Some Might Say
At this stage of Oasis, Noel wrote all the songs. Liam chipped in with one on their 4th album and later albums involved more songs by Liam as well as Gem and Andy but Noel remained the chief songwriter
Great video Jack. I like you!
glad you enjoyed the video!! :)
Check out the B-Sides album The Masterplan. Some of their best songs were B-Sides!
Thanks Steve im noticing a lot of people talking about the masterplan, im very interested!
definitely mabye is the album too listen my guy
Liam doesn't sing Don't look back in Anger, but he has done the song. I think he may have played it at Glastonbury a few yrs ago
that makes a lot of sense now haha
Great reaction as always Jack. Have you listened to the new ODESZA album by any chance?
No I havnt but im actually super keen to check it out !
The singles I have heard from Odesza I really enjoy so I think now is a good time to check them out !!
This album is amazing, but it gets even more amazing once you know its backstory and the theories behind it. Highly recommend, if you have the time, to watch, on your own, to the video James Hargreaves made explaining the conspiracy theory behind the album, I think the video is called "Noel Gallagher's Masterplan" or something like that
Ooooh I would be very keen to check that out. love hearing other peoples opinions/conspiracies behind certain albums/ songs
Please do their debut album bud, it's fantastic and opens you up to their full sound much better
Am very keen to check out more from them soon! Thank you for watching the vid :)
The greatest band ever. Too be needed and wanted too get back together even after so many years apart says it all. Would literally sell/smash anything out of the water if they was a return…
I truly truly hope they can get back together one day so people like you Elliott can experience a reunion. So good to hear how much they meant to you! Fingers crossed one day you can experience it
@@cavemanjack that’s the dream pal. You should do reactions too Liam’s solo stuff. Very good.
You have to watch vids of oasis live in the 90s to realise how good they were tbh
I have watched a couple and they have blown me away, the energy they have with the crowd is elite
TOP ALBUM BEST 90S
Filler? This album has no filler.
Call me a basic oasis fan at this stage haha, but the more you go through the project the more each song becomes its own I will admit, though I have struggled to get into "hey now"
Personally think "Be here now" is their best album, if not definitely maybe. Both worth a listen anyway.
I also rlly like be here now, but it’s abit too bloated for me
I always love when there is divide in favourite albums by fans. Would be keen to check out more Oasis soon! I think ill head to definetly maybe next.
Liam wouldn’t perform Don’t Look Back in Anger because Noel sings that one man, guess you’ll just have to go to a Noel concert now too! Great reaction👍🏼
Looks like I might have too, thank you Nath!
Hey Now is definitely the weakest link here; the fact it's on the album and The Masterplan was a b-side is criminal - I playlisted the album and switched those songs, been listening to it that way for years :D
Your comments on Cast No Shadow were more spot on than you think- Noel himself has referred to the song as "half baked". This is a solid reaction video, I checked out your Radiohead reaction too; good vibes and solid analysis, got a sub from me anyways :)
EDIT - Re: What's the story morning glory - it's a phrase a woman who Noel met and was briefly involved with (and wrote some songs about) used to say as a greeting to him.
yeah I struggle to get into hey now still, i really need to listen to the b side album! Thank you for the sub and thanks for checking out the Radiohead vid, that one will always be very special for me as I don't think I head an album like that before, truly was incredible!
Hey now played acoustically is unreal, plus prob best lyrics on album
Liam sings every song off the album apart from don't look back in anger that's noel.
Mad fer it
Live recordings would be worth your time as they were seriously good live. In their prime they were superb. Try gas panic.
Ive checked out a couple and they blew me away, particularly how they wrap the crowd up, energy is unmatched
Some might say is my all time fave song.... you need to listen to it again 😊 i personally love Hey now but it's about 2 mins too long.
Noel did a vast majority of the song writing, and Liam did a vast majority of the singing. Occasionally Noel would sing and occasionally Liam would write. They also absolutely hated each other which is why they broke up and don’t speak. A total personality clash combined with a truck load of beef. Surprised they stayed together as long as they did. You can find tons of videos of them just shitting on each other
haha I wonder if one day they will ever get back together for a reunion, that would be awesome!
@@cavemanjack if they did I feel like it wouldn’t be as good. If you listen to their first two albums and then go to a later album the drop off in quality is very noticeable. Oasis imo ran out of steam after the mixed reception of their third album. They still made some bangers after that album, but it was a lot more inconsistent and they are like 40 now and can’t stand each other
@@cavemanjackIt’d be more likely one of them kills the other than that 😅
Definitely Maybe 8,5 millions solds, Morning Glory 22 millions solds, The Masterplan 3 millions solds (90s albums) Don't believe the truth 7 millions solds (2000s album) are their best albums for me
Nice one👍🏻 Definitely Maybe is better! Well possibly, no definitely, well maybe…
possibly, maybe, im not sure, but definitely maybe
I don’t think he realises that swamp song 2 connects morning glory and champagne supernova together
Wasn't till I listened to the album without stopping that it was made clearer to me. I love when that swamp song kicks in now and then as it fades into champagne supernova.. my goodness ..so good
Noel met and fell in love with a woman on one of their American tours, she used to answer the phone saying 'what's the story morning glory?' which is off some shitty American TV programme in the 90's.
Love learning meaning behind song titles/lyrics, thank you Lawson!
Some of their b sides should have been singles too. The one that comes to mind is the masterplan what a song yet its a b side. Definitely maybe is their masterpiece this one is a close second due to the amount of singles released on it. One of the last great rock bands to have any major influence to the genre.
I really am keen to check out their b sides album !
@@cavemanjack please react to the masterplan album
I feel like The peak of oasis was far too short. I truly believe if their peak lasted for two or maybe even theee more high quality albums than they would be regarded in the same breath as the Beatles.
Bro do more Oasis albums
Liam would never play don’t look back in anger because Noel sung that one 😂
you need to listen to it again, you should appreciate the songs you hadnt heard before more. Its an absolute classic album, apart from the filler instrumental segments, its pretty much perfect.
The more I listen the more I appreciated each song, the only one I don't really connect with much is hey now
I don’t think anyone fully likes Oasis until they watch a live performance
After watching a couple the other day, I see what you mean lol
Some Might Say got to number one but like you it's not a favourite of mine. They had 8 number ones in the UK and I found I often prefer other songs of their's.
I'm surprised you never heard Champagne Supernova before I always thought it was one of there most famous songs globally behind only Wonderwall.
Check out oasis master plan album it’s a album of bsides arguably their best album!
Would love to check it out at some point Dana! Thanks for the comment
Why the buzz? Befuckingcause. Best band in the world for 15 years.
My favourite band, and yeah, don't look back in anger is better than wonderwall for me
Gotta agree with you about don't look back in anger !
As a Mancunian it’s so good to see someone react to Oasis. Don’t Look Back In Anger is 100% better than Wonderwall and has really become a manc anthem
Such a great album!
5:38 a lot of Oasis songs are better than Wonderwall
Nice video btw
Thanks Max, glad you liked it !
“I was just hoping , he would play dont look back in anger and instead he played wonderwall”
🤣
I really wanted to hear it lol
Now close to 30 years later. For me it Hello, and then skip until Cast no shadow and then let the rest play through. The final half is far superior is what I'm trying to say.
Such a great album!
Liam didn't play don't look back in anger because he doesn't sing it lol. Noel sings it at every single one of his gigs
hahahah that explains it then lol. That is super interesting to know though! Thank you for letting me know!
'Some might say is a filler track' is possibly the most bizarre thing I've ever heard on a music channel. It's a bona fide classic. You need to listen to that one again.
I have had quite a few say this and each time I hear this track my comment from this vid gets more and more repressed haha its a very solid track
CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA Is FUCKING AWESOME!!!!
I love it so much!
No Definitely Maybe was their best album by a mile. Morning Glory was 2/3 a great album.
Super keen to check out definitely maybe soon!!!
Don’t look back in anger is absolutely better than wonder wall. It’s such a phenomenal rock anthem, from its incredibly simple yet beautiful chorus to it’s excellent vocals and instrumental. I consider it to be the best thing Oasis has created with Wonderwall, Whatever, live forever, stand by me, and champagne supernova close behind it.
Both good songs but yeah don't look back in anger hits me so much harder! such an awesome song
Possibly the only band where they could have made two more albums if they'd held back their b sides, of which there is barely a duff one. Lots are better than anything on the albums
The first 3 albums only that is btw.
Wonderwall is iconic but objectively it's nowhere near their best, your opinion on DLBIA is fine aha (and I agree)
Hahah glad im not alone
you look like guigsy and tony mccarroll put in one
Noel Gallagher had an affair with a girl from San Francisco called Melissa, every time she called him on the phone she said "What's the story Morning Glory?", so the album is named after that, according to Noel himself (but he didn't mention Melissa cuz he "forgot" her name"). And in my opinion some other songs from the album were written for her, like Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger(Sally is Melissa imo).
hmm very interesting! Thank you for sharing this, I will always remember Melissa now whenever I hear both morning glory and don't look back in anger! Love hearing meaning behind lyrics!
Funny how you say “Some Might Say” is a filler track when it was Oasis’ first number 1 single
This song has grown on me so much since my first listen
The flaw in Noel Gallagher's songs choosing in albums back fired in my opinion. The Masterplan was a b side on the wonderwall single. Take off Hey now and replace it with Masterplan czcams.com/video/C_-CH3hhyN4/video.html you would have an even better what's the story morning glory . Most fans never even knew this masterpiece existed unless they played it live. Someone should have taken him aside and told him the album song structure. Another B side acquiesce should have been on the album too. On their 4th album standing on the shoulder of giants, one of the besides was 'Let's all make believe'. One of oasis and Noels best ever written tunes, the atmosphere was beautiful. But instead on the album he includes 'I can see a liar'. Shit song. Noel had too much power, too many band members afraid to voice their opinion to the genius. That's my opinion
Very interesting to hear about these hidden gems in their discography that could have well been hits! Thank you for sharing Sean!! Wonder why he opted with the other songs instead of the B sides
REACT TO COLDPLAY-PARACHUTES
I agree!
Huge fan of Coldplay but have never played this album front to back, will know the singles though, but who doesn't lol, thanks for the recommendation Fareed!
It's sad that you dismiss Some Might Say as a filler track it's worth a second listen i think and it will grow on you. In an interview Noel said if he had to choose a song to define what oasis is and there sound it would be Some Might Say.
to be fair I have gone back to the album and some might say has connected to me a lot more. Each time the chorus as become more catchy and your right does grow on you, the one song that I can't really connect with is hey now.
@@cavemanjack It's in my top 3 oasis songs, its definitely the more you listen to it, the more addicted you will get to it lol
@@willtyers1376 Those are some of the best songs, when they get better the more time you spend with it
@@cavemanjackthats definitely valid, imo Hey Now is the weakest track on the album (excluding swamp song)
Not their best. They peaked on their first record 'Definitely, Maybe'. However...their best work is on the B-sides of the single releases.
Definetely Maybe is better.
Keen to check it out and see which one I like better!
Wonderwall is incredibly overrated
For me, Oasis have a handful of like 10 incredible hit songs (a lot of which are on this album) but then the rest of their music is pretty bland and doesn’t particularly evolve into anything better or more interesting over their active years. Favourite songs of mine from their other albums are Little By Little, Half The World Away, Live Forever, The Masterplan, and The Importance of being Idle. Noel Gallagher could write fantastic stadium anthems which now exist within the DNA of British culture. And btw it’s actually Noel singing on Don’t Look Back In Anger, which would be why Liam didn’t sing it at the festival...which is funny because Noel still sings Liam’s songs.
Oasis actually had a massive rivalry and charts war in the 90s with Blur. Headlines called it ‘The Battle of Britpop’. It was huge at the time. It’s even still debated to this day who’s the better band. And even though I think it’s silly to turn art into a competition...if I had to choose, it’s a no-brainer...Blur are the far superior band, in both variety and artistry, but many others would disagree.
The frontman of Blur, Damon Albarn, would eventually go on to create Gorillaz. So yeah...he’s a super talented guy. I’m very curious to see what you think about Blur now that you’ve reacted to Gorillaz and Oasis. My personal favourite albums that I’d recommend are ‘Modern Life is Rubbish’, ‘Parklife’, and ‘13’.
Cheers for another fantastic reaction bro!!! 😊
Man I had no idea that Noel sung don't look back in anger, that's awesome! I did sense that the band would have really great highs and then basic sounds on a lot of their other songs, that was the feeling I got from this album.
I continue to hear so much about Blur that it feels only right at some point to check them out considering the music I'm listening to at the moment.
Thank you for the recommendations regarding blur as someone who really has no prior knowledge on them, this helps a lot!
Thank you again!!!
Nah blur are just a boyband with guitars. ‘Girls who like boys who like girls who like boys’ lol 😂 no energy
@@MrOasis316 If that’s how you see them, fine. But I personally think that’s a complete misrepresentation.
I feel the complete opposite tbh. I feel like oasis have a lot of deep tracks that are far better than the hits. Especially on the albums that aren’t the first 2
@@cavemanjack put the U.K. funk band Jamiroquai on your radar. Formed in 1992. Start with the first album ‘Emergency on Planet Earth’
