Another great discussion as usual. My thoughts I am very happy to own Reproductions but not counterfeit stuff if that means it was sold as original to defraud the buyer.

I have had my 12 gi joes repaired... reflocked hair... restrung or repainted.... not a problem with that for I am paying for a service... as far as buying reproduction parts if they are well made I consider them sort of a spare tire until I get the official part. If I was selling honesty is always the best policy letting the buyer know exactly what they are getting.

Another cool topic for discussion. Personally I don't have a issue with anything repro as long as it is clearly labeled as repro. Duping people into buying something that isn't what they want is definitely wrong.

I like repro as long as the seller states it as such. If you don’t read the description then that’s on you. Buyer beware. Repro’s are not going away so it’s up to us to educate ourselves on what’s happening in the collecting market. IF a seller is trying to scam someone then they should burn.

I collect straight up vintage , I can't lie to myself , what I mean is, that to me a reissue , repro or counterfeit won't do. If the original figure is too expensive I just won't get or I'll save up for it but it has to be %100 original. To me it defeats the purpose of collecting vintage if your buying reissues or counterfeits , That's just my opinion off course , to each their own . I really enjoy these types of videos keep up the good work guys .

I bought a reproduction box (with interior liner cardboard) for my KENNER 18" ALIEN figure from 1979, and I was so happy to get it ! I got it for display purposes only, not to turn a profit. That's why I like the market that facilitates reproductions. As usual it's the individual that creates or corrupts the result. I've got a KENNER movie viewer (Alien) that I'm hoping I will get a reproduction box for. So I like the idea of Repro's.

This is prevalent in the baseball card market on Ebay. I got duped buying what I thought was a 1960's card. It doesn't happen in Cons because of the number of experts. Thankfully I got my money back. I hear this all the time with SW weapons. The bottom line is if they inform you in the listing, I guess it's up to the buyer. The problem is that some sellers are sneaky.

I am fine with clear repro stuff (guns and removable clothing). I am not fine with recarded items and counterfeit items. If an action figure is vintage and already opened, I would like it in a clear clam-shell container and sold for a reasonable price.

only want original . Why Recard a Figure if you don't want to cheat someone? Thank you for your Video and many greetings from Germany.

The companies that make these repro products should go out of their way to make it obvious that it's a repro at a glance. Add the word "REPRODUCTION" to one of the corners of the card back. Mold accessories in a different color that makes sense, or even add paint apps to highlight the sculpt and make the details pop. Anything to differentiate it from the original.

I have a few repro cards but they are easy to spot. I just do it for really expensive figures so that I can display everything together. I wouldn't sell them on these cards, I would remove them first and sell as loose.

I think selling recarded items could be a problem. I get that point. However if someone is recarding a couple for there personal enjoyment. I don’t see the issue. I have a few beggars canyon ARAH cards mixed in with my original as place holders. I mean I don’t want to pay 3,000 for a Snake-Eyes V2. If for any reason I did sell, which I don’t anticipate, I would extract and sell loose, or clearly state. Their cards do say reproduction packaging on the reverse thou.

@@OpenByChance me as well, but I think repro is here to stay and will only get more indistinguishable as time moves on with 3D printers. I just get a couple card backs as 15 buck figure holders. I love ARAH art. But not for 3,000 dollars lol. Like I’ll buy a Doctor Mindbender original or something like that 400-500 tops. But the 3k ones not on your life, well this life anyways. Of course original would recoup the cost spent in the future. Parting with 3k thou for 1 3.75 figure moc is hard for me to justify. I truly collect thous do to I appreciate the art and enjoy them displayed. With zero intention of selling. Kind of like a art print over a original.

Those $10 Star Wars retro figures hasbro is doing that look just like the vintage ones are cool. I have no problem with it ,it makes collecting affordable for everyone and if someone just wants to collect them because it reminds them of there childhood or whatever and doesn’t care if there going to be worth money or not he just wants a set to display and he can a n get a carded darth Vader for $10 that looks just like a 78 carded Vader I got no problem with it….but as far as repro stuff people are passing off as vintage that’s not cool at all

  • @gilgamesh.....
    @gilgamesh..... Před 3 lety +2

I'm okay with repro stickers and accessories. But it needs to be clearly stated what is repro and it shouldn't be sold for original price. The problem is a lot of people are dishonest, greedy or don't care so they want to pass it off and make some money.

I want all original in general. I can see why some people want repo items due to cost which is OK , if there is a disclaimer. I think it's going to get worse as 3d printers become better and cheaper. Suck for collectors that want all original...

  • @kaymars2169

If people start selling them as legit pieces or carded down the track, it can begin to ruin the hobby as people will be less intent on buying if they can't tell if it's legit. For me it's knowing I have something in it's original state, even slightly damaged. However, I think it is fine if people do it for their own personal collections as long as they know and are happy with it.

Mego is the biggest repo out there and I don't mind the decal that are always lost. But I am trying to complete my vintage death star and I refuse to pay $145 for a rope. I was looking for the background cards they wanted to much for one in not that of great shape $65. So I know why people go to repo and they do say repo. But there are ones that don't tell u and on the star wars weapons I bought a luke gun and sword. They said original they float did the test but now they have ones that float. So now I don't know if they are original or not paid $60 for them. My mego are original but 3 have repo decals my high end ones have all original decal and accessories.

My Son ran into this Its ridiculous!!! That makes the Seller a Liar and a Thief! I hate to Be that crass on it but its become the norm now in collecting. I dont mind repro Weapons If the Sellers TELLS you that it is in the description for the Figure or Vehicle. You Guys know as well as I do that there are Folks out there that Gouge the collector over an Accessory that was even a little special or hardly rare. I wonder If My Son bought His Man At Arms from the same Seller. It turned out the Weapon and Armour were Repro. I had Man at Arms when I was young and knew that it was hard Plastic and this was like Vinyl and soft as anything. I think If a Person Buys an Incomplete Figure Then Buys a Repro Weapon for Their Owen Collection is alright. Thats not hurting anyone, Right. Now If Someone Misleads someone and sell Them a repro anything thats fraud. Collector seller arent regulated like any other business so They dont suffer for it and get away with it.

Yeah I don't really care about repros etc etc...but I be pissed too if I bought something 200 or 300 and it's a repro not original...for instance I've seen some Mattel old flash Gordon figures with repro art that look pretty good for 30 bucks plus they say reproduction...I'm cool with that..the art and the figures look good and they tell you up front. I just be mad if it were sold for 200 saying yes it's an original figure.
