      Hey thanks for the video, did you feel a difference between gray and black ear pads? The black ones feel a lot stiffer and not as much comfortable compared to my old gray ones.

      I paid the equivalaent of USD$6 for generic pads PLUS the headband cover/cushion.

    Random tip here, since I just replaced mine and...surprisingly kept it to minimum cursing.
    Fold up the outside rubbery material that holds it in place around maybe the top 1/3 to 1/2 of the pad.
    Slide the portion that isn't flipped onto the headphones then, slowly, while holding it in place, move around to the folded sections and refold them over the lip.

      I folded-back the ENTIRE flap and rolled it on, starting from the point where the bracket is located, as that was the most difficult to position (though, not really all that difficult, to be honest).

    wow first howto video I've watched on youtube which was step by step perfection!! Thanks man.
    That literally took me 10 mins to do!!
    Just one thing - the foam in my replacement pads was larger than the original one so I had to cut them down using the original as a template - easy enough.
    Thanks again!!

    Just got done replacing mine, your video was super helpful. Thank you for the great tutorial. I would highly recommend the hair dryer too. I tried for 15 minutes without it with no success, although after I heated them up for about a minute on low heat I was able to get both on in less than 2 minutes.

    I just did a solid wash on my earpads, and now they, LOOK, SMELL and FEEL oh so fresh and great. In fact, you do not even need to use a hairdryer to put on the earpads. On my DT770 Pros, I just used my hands to put the earpads on again, and it went on smoothly and with no problems. Keyword: Patience. Just be patient and don't rush putting them on. Take on the earpads little by little. Begin where there are little to no room to wiggle the earpad on (some areas are tighter than others). Keep on holding firmly onto the leather part as you wrap the leather part of the earpads slowly around the headphones. That way, won't slide off that easily. Eventually, you will get the leather part in place in no time. The same with taking off the earpads; don't rush with it. Pull them off (by holding onto the velour) little by little and slowly. Once you get off a little, the rest will come off nicely. Good luck. Heck, I might even make a video on it once these earpads get dirty again.

      How do you clean them?

    • @Shookie
      @Shookie Před 4 lety

      @@erlendlangseth4672, since I assume you're norwegian, you can just fill a bucket with warm water and add a tip of Milo (great detergent for wool, velour etc.) in there. Then use your hands (you can use one-time rubber gloves too, but I just went without them) to rub the pads good and thoroughly for 2-3 mins. Let them stay there for 4-5 mins. Lift them up from the water. Squeeze the water out of them and then repeat the process 1 more time for both pads. When you're done, you lift them up and squeeze as much water out of them as possible before you hang them up for drying. There. That should be detailed enough. Good luck. :)

    I'd be interested to see if the thicker foam inner pad changes the frequency response at all, possibly reducing HF a little.

      if you still care: with the original replacement pads: no difference. It is now more isolated again which is good but also has now a bit more pressure (because of the larger cushions)

    Hello Chris,
    I don't know if you read comments still after the period of time. But I have a question according the headphone. I'm singer in a band and we rehearse with in-ears at the moment. I wanna change to a headphone because I find that more comfortable. Now I'm curious to what extent these headphones block outside noise. Do you think that this headphone blocks out the drummer's noise quite a bit?

    • @ChrisAsipyan
      @ChrisAsipyan  Před 3 lety +1

      I have not gotten the chance to use my headphones in a loud environment before. But in a normal environment with tv noise or office noise like phone conversations and stuff... It definitely blocks out quite a lot of noise.. almost to complete silence

    quick tip for everyone who come across this video
    you can buy dt1990/1770 fixing ring, to replace the stock one, they are cheap and help big time in installation of new pads - europe.beyerdynamic.com/klemmring.html
    it fits perfectly on them (same clips and size), and it gives you additional lip with small opening for easy installation of the pads (just slide pad backside on it, and rotate the pad onto the ring) - czcams.com/video/JXpuyCIJEPg/video.html
    i have them on mine dt770, and no problems at all, feel free to do so, beyer pads are all the same size, so no worries for fitment
    and also it has a benefit of giving more space for the ear, since the lip from new ring will move driver a little bit further from the ear

    A customer review on Amazon says "The Limited Edition Black version of the DT770 pro DO NOT sound the same as the normal silver version. The this black version has far more treble and less bass. This is entirely due to the ear pads used." Have you noticed any change in the sound?

    • @ChrisAsipyan
      @ChrisAsipyan  Před 5 lety

      Hi Julio, I don't believe there was a sound change and if there was it was unnoticeable to me. Maybe it's because I wasn't actively trying to hear for any differences in the sound. Either way, they still sound really great with the music I listen to. Classic rock, ebm, industrial, ambient and vocal, and sometimes classical.
