I never get tired of this performance. It's one of my fave muse songs and lives bc it just sounds EVEN BETTER LIVE. THE CHORUS LITERALLY SOUNDS LIKE THUNDER AT POINTS. ITS SOOO SATISFYING. plus we get a lot of Dom footage and this is one of don't best parts on any muse track I think.

For the whole live, he's using a way more distorted sound than usual (same for New Born and SMBH for example), and on Assassin it just sounds so nice! There's a huge contrast between the verses/bridge and the riff due to this distortion difference, and that's what make it sounds so heavy imho :)
Yeah and this concert has one of the best post production values in Muse live concerts, don't get fooled by the small place the editing is fantastic.
And the phaser he puts right before the distortion makes the sound a lot bigger

Alfie Johnson it’s both I believe. When I play it I usually play the A string harmonic because it’s nearly the same sound just an octave up and I like it that way personally haha.
