    For Ellie and Mac tester photos once you click on the first photo, you can press the arrow buttons on your computer to keep moving right, and not go down to the little circle and up to the photo √ PS You can go into a menu on the left side and go directly to Adult tops, Adult bottoms and Adult outerwear etc. You are in the general section for this video :)

      It’s a great pattern, like the old cagoules and pack-a-macs! I made 1 each out of waterproof fabric in really cute prints for my little granddaughters but had to add length and a gusset to the sleeve because they’re really slim. I also lined the hoods in jersey but had to make the bag bigger, I also figured out a way to construct it so the back was the right side of the fabric too, it took a bit of work but they came out fabulously!

    I started following E&M a couple years ago they are a wonderful company for beginners bc their video tutorial are in depth and long, directions are very easy and they answer emails super fast! What I don’t like is that the options really are options imo if they only change a hem or sleeve. Those should be included or an add-on

    • @plf67
      @plf67 Před 2 lety +1

      I’m confused in what you are saying…I take it as option being short sleeve or long sleeve or maybe with or without hoodie. In either case all pattern I have include the pattern pieces for those options. Any other change without a pattern piece I call hacking it..such as making it a high/low or crop on your own. I love the huge amount of options they offer.

    I don’t know if you mentioned it (sorry, my brain since getting real sick with Covid last year has a real hard time paying attention) but beside having frequent sales, Ellie and Mac has $1 and $2 patterns every week and they are super cute! Also Deanna does a great job of videotaping most, if not all, of the patterns.

    As a beginner sewist (with an eleven year-old daughter that is also sewing her own clothes), Ellie and Mac has been amazing. They have great tutorials on CZcams and an amazing community on Facebook that you can turn to for new ideas or for help. You somehow missed the Curved Hem Pocket tank, their free tank pattern, which happens to be my favorite. (Sans pocket.) They may be basic, but their patterns are easy to hack - I just started sewing clothes in January and even I was able to hack the neckline from the Curved Hem tank onto the Everyday Tee without a problem. They certainly don’t have everything, but they are a fantastic jumping off point.

    I like E&M patterns because I don’t need to grade up, down and sideways! I’ve already got a few of theirs which have been a breeze to sew, instructions are great, tutorial videos helpful and I love so many colour blocking tops and hoodies. I’ve just picked up the moto jacket, sew scrappy top and ruched tee which is the one I’m really excited about but it doesn’t take much for that to happen 😂 Plus I got an extra 15% off but I think the code is only valid for today

  • @tishie42

    I trust no hands in pockets! I've found people are holding their pocket in cuz the hip is too tight and waist is too small. Or camel toe, like you said. With knits it's usually the pocket coming out problem. Especially if they're not reinforced at the opening during construction. I don't love the white backside either. Black back doesn't seem to bother me as much. Thank you for sharing this with us! ✨I look forward to your thoughts on patterns.

  • @missdemeanor3524
    @missdemeanor3524 Před 2 lety

    I've never seen anything like the jacket that converts into a backpack! I want to make that just to see how the heck it works, although I'm not a fan of the big frontal rectangle piece either. I also liked the edginess of that straight-cut shirt with the long asymmetric angle that covered one thigh/buttock but left the opposite side exposed.
    In the very beginning of the vid, a company rep was wearing a chic blue and white patterned close-fitting, short sleeved nearly off-the-shoulder top that grabbed my attention bc it was a knit, but sewn so nicely that it looked like a woven. I was keeping my eyes peeled for THAT pattern, but didn't see it. What kind of sorcery was used to accomplish such a technique, I'd like to know!
    There were a lot of cute and flattering styles, but most of the patterns had at *least* 2 other very similar versions in other patterns. They've all blurred together into a sea of similarity so I can't remember any other specific patterns I'd buy. Would it really have killed them to offer different lengths in the same pattern? Or different depths of sharkbite? They could have tightened up this collection by 2/3 this way. Perhaps it's a better business decision not to, idk.
    You'll never catch me making an edge-to-edge lined knit garment though. Or showing the white side of a printed fabric via a hi-lo hem or flounce!! Lastly, there's just something extra fun and inspirational when the indie co's show all the makes of different sewists. I love how it creates a sense of community.

    I am glad you reviewed these, but I just dont think they are for me. I am pretty picky about fit, and I would have to do an fba, so at that point I would have to pull out the drafting ruler anyway. I would rather start with something that fits me well (ie. Cashmerette concord tshirt or turner dress) and hack it into these options. I might look at the mens patterns though because I have been having trouble finding those in larger sizes.

    Firstly, I love your reviews...you've introduced to me a lot of indie patterns that I would have never known about, so thank you for covering all kinds of pattern companies! Unfortunately for me, these are all quite plain, basic and uninspiring to me...screams, "I make my own clothes!" and not in a good way. Honestly, reminds me of outfits someone would have worn to their mall Glamour Shot photo sesh in the 90s. The hi-lo hemlines are all a big big no. Not fashion forward or current, in the least.

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  Před 2 lety +1

      The Big 4 seamstresses are professionals. However, there are constraints that they have to work within. They have to make one size for a fit model they've never met or seen. So, not their fault that something doesn't fit. That's back on the designer and that team.
