      I agree with you and not only because I’m a Jags fan, but from a logical standpoint. He had the 5th easiest schedule last year. If you take a look at the games they played the only impressive win was the Jags game. Where that stupid kickoff return and fluke Bigsby fumble that no one knew was a fumble, that went for a TD. I think the Texans will still be good but Stroud will have a sophomore slump and the narrative on the Texans next year will be much different.

    Quarterbacks are paid on their potential upside rather than on their past performance. That's the reality. About Trevor's past performance, there are several reasons why Trevor underperformed last year. Firstly he played injured the second half of the season with a bad ankle as only one of his injuries. Secondly injuries on the offensive line contributed to poor blocking. This poor blocking made the run game slow down so teams didn't respect the run game. Also, the jaguars could not utilize the entire field while on offense primarily because they did not have the players to stretch the field vertically. Defenses did not respect the long pass. With the addition of Gabe Davis and BTJ teams should respect the vertical game more which will open up the middle for Evan Engram and Christian Kirk. The Jaguars did bring in another center to replace their underperforming center last year. The poor guy last year ended up on his back quite often and teams just bull rushed the middle of the line. Etienne had too many touches last year and ran out of gas in the second half of the season. Tank coming into a second year is a big bruiser who they did not use much last year because they lost confidence in him. He had fumbled a few times and didn't catch several passes out of the backfield. He should be more confident this year. He should take some of the touches away from Etienne which will help both of them and the offense as a whole.
    Let's not overlook the fact that a new defensive scheme this year is being managed by a new DC that is a tremendous teacher with great position coaches. If all goes as planned the defense will give the ball back to the offense more frequently. On the defensive line Devon Hamilton is fully recovered from his illness last year along with the addition of Armistead. These two in the middle will solidify the defensive front.

      yeah, c'mon, bring in all the excuses, keep em coming in, excuse, after excuse, after excuse. That's all you guys do for Trevor, Herbert and Burrow. Those blonde QB's are never "underperfoming" or "injury prone", it's everyone around them that isn't good. Meanwhile Lamar, Hurts, and Dak (who have done and accomplished more) get slammed, people question "are they worth their money?". I WONDER WHY??

      @@jdajayi92 I'm not speaking about other quarterbacks namely white quarterbacks as you seem to be insinuating. I only follow the jaguars and my comments only concerned the jaguars. I don't see color when I see a football player and nor should you. Trevor was having a very good year until things started breaking down around him including his health. One significant problem that Trevor has is his propensity to fumble the ball. My recommendation is to wait and see what this season holds. If he has a breakout year the general manager will look like a genius because Trevor would demand more money later

    • @jdajayi92
      @jdajayi92 Před měsícem

      @@TeeJay-zi9ve I'm not saying that you see color. I'm saying that the media and the pocketbooks belonging to team owners are definitely swayed by appearance. It's so obvious you can't deny it. I'm not just insinuating "Color" I'm also talking about perception too. Daniel Jones, Baker, Carr, Kyler, Fields, and others who "underperformed" have not had the benefit-of-doubt that's been overly given to guys like Trevor and Herbert for OBVIOUS REASONS. Those are guys are seen for their "problems" while Lawrence is seen for his "potential" even though their numbers were reflective or better than Trevor's. Ppl don't like bringing this point up, but it's true if you look at the numbers and use your eyes. Jags got robbed by hype. And they're literally paying for it.

      Etienne didn’t run out of gas. He dealt with injuries while the OL managed to get worse and injured. He suffered an ankle sprain during the Steelers game and a hip injury a few weeks later. The play calling became too easy to figure out. Pass Plays were predictable, and they made it obvious that they were going to run the ball (which became more obvious when Lawrence wasn’t performing well due to his ankle injury or when Beathard played)
      Then for the OL, Fortner was Fortner, Scherff broke down and still played, Harrison still had a bad shoulder and was one of the worst run blocking tackles, LG was a mess as Little played terrible and injured, Cleveland was injured and played bad, Shatley wasn’t good. The OL played confused and the OL coach is easily the worst in the league.
      He definitely didn’t run out of steam. His situation just sucked and his opportunities lowered (despite Bigsby/Johnson who were averaging 2.6 YPC and having plenty of errors). Even later in the season, Etienne made plenty of plays and broke many tackles when he was given enough to get in space and was given the ball. The team is 9-3 when he’s given 20+ touches. There’s a reason why Lawrence played better when Etienne became established.

    Give this man an O-Line that is good and healthy; and my guess is he'll stop dropping balls, fumbling, and having to rush throws that end up being interceptions. Lets lock up our RB Etienne and I can't wait to watch a very tough schedule in 2024.

      I completely agree~ The O-line didn't seem to get much consideration from what I can tell. It was a factor with "T-Law" running/scrambling for his life before he could get to any of the progressions. He was getting the ball out fast (2Sec). Challenging early schedule, fun to watch. CJ Stroud is just as much a slinger as Trevor, Defenses will have some answers but for him, however, he will get his too I think.

    This is the first time we've had back to back winning seasons in 20 years, Trevor is the best thing to happen to us in ages. Our contract structure won't really be too bad for the salary cap and I'm happy we locked in a top 10 QB. If he is QB10 throughout the contract that's a win for us. Kahn is willing to dish out money in order to save the cap and we could have gone to the SB if Bortles was a real QB. Like we don't need the best if the rest of the pieces get into place. We also know that the best would suck if the other pieces aren't there. Like TLaw on the 49ers would have won it all. So my expectations are top 10ish QB play.
