In a film all about the trials and tribulations of growing up, itâs only natural to have scenes that focus on the relationships we have throughout our lives - whether that be with a parent or a best friend. Pixarâs latest film, âTurning Redâ is of course no exception to this, and we felt itâd be worth trying to see which of the filmâs relationships are the healthiest and which could use some work.

I know a lot of people dont like Tyler (which is fair) and Yes Tyler is a jerk, he has all the makings of someone who is just the worst type of person as an adult, and at his party he took it pretty overboard.
But i believe the saying "Hurt people, hurt people" applies most to children. Tyler if we are paying attention throughout the movie is always alone, every time we see him he really has no one, where as Mei always has her friends with her. He plays basket ball but we dont see him on the basket ball team, his family seems to be a bit wealthy, but again nothing to really show for it. Its why he pays and invites Mei to his party because she is the popular thing right now, and so if she is there at his party then other people must show up. Even at his own party he (the real Tyler) is uncomfortable and awkward to even dance and only does so with the help and encouragement of Mei and her friends. He always seems to be overcompensating for something with that jerkish nature. And is the type of child to lash out for attention or to be noticed, this is even more seen when Mei (understandably) snaps at him at the party, a random kids says something like "are you going to let her talk to you like that". Tyler then snaps back, throws around the only thing he has which is his money and gets hype from the crowed. Mei then attempts to leave and still hyped and in the heat of the moment he continues with his insults thinking it makes him cool or is ok to say the things he does, but really he is just desperate because he doesnt want people to leave if Mei leaves. Mei then attacks him because he placed the last straw that broke the camels back when he insulted not just her but her mother and her culture. She understandably lashes out and attacks him, and the macho jerkish persona we see that Tyler built up is shattered and he learns a lesson in humility and not to insult people.
We then see Tyler at the concert and he is scared to death other people he knows seeing him there when he hears his name called, probably thinking he will get made fun of or mocked. But when they spot him they dont do anything of the like, and just accept him with open arms as one of them for enjoying something they also enjoy. And after that we see he lets his guard down and is a lot more vulnerable and is enjoying himself with them.
I dont condone bullying, name calling, fighting, or anything like that. But the movie shows there is a reason as to why someone like Tyler might act the way he does.
I also love how at the end of the movie he has one of the friendship bracelets the rest of them have too.

I have to admit that I really enjoyed the movie. It was weird and really out there, and that's what I liked about it. I really enjoy when animated projects that don't shy away from family problems, teenage drama or social issues. The characters, animation and voice acting were all done very well. They did a good job of showing how scary changing and growing up can be, but it happens for a reason.
But like any other Disney movie, the problem is mostly resolved to quickly. Forgiving and moving on is important, but its not easy (like they make it seem in their movies). Ming did the exact same thing to Mei that her mother did to her - and she didn't see that? If nothing is ever going to be good enough, you shouldn't push a child to be perfect. Healing can happen...but it takes time.
(Ming shouldn't need to apologize. She may have given her mother that scar, but it was Wu's controlling and overbearing nature that caused such an act.)
People may call the portrayal of Chinese culture in this movie racist or stereotypical; but it isn't if its all fact. Most families of Asian cultures are very controlling and pass that toxic quirk to their children. Parents shouldn't push their desires onto their children, because than the children never get to live their own lives. If your kids rebel, its most likely because you're refusing to listen to them.
If there's a sequel, I seriously hope that Disney doesn't tone down the problems and issues of growing up.

I love how understanding Mei's friends are even after she was to afraid to stand up for them from her mom at first unlike Mr. Wolf's friends who just left him when they didn't know they were being praised after one good deed.

I havenât seen this movie but Iâve watched a few WatchMojo videos about it and it looks interesting. I bet a lot of girls that went into the movie had questions coming out after and thatâs good so they donât freak out when it eventually happens to them. Iâm 25 so Iâve known this struggle for a while getting very emotional and getting pretty bad cramps at the start of my cycles. Apparently according to the movie herbal tea can help with that but I donât like tea so I usually just take 5 Ibuprofen to help with my bad cramps.

Personally, I wouldn't have forgiven ming, wuu, or tyler. I'm sorry but there's something's I can't excuse. Yes, mei is just as guilty but the fact ming acts like going to a concert and liking guys is the end of days just hurts. Plus ming dose sadly come off as a psycho when it comes to "trying to help".
