This was such a great on going skit. To this day I still say to people "Homey don't play that"
Decades later I still say "Homie don't play that!" and people know what it references!
"I don't think so ... Homey don't play that!" Classic In Living Color. Along with Blaine and Antoine, Benita Butrell, Fire Marshal Bill, and Wanda ... Homey is one of the most well known characters!
And don't forget Whiz and Ice: "How to make mo money without using yo money!"

"Homey don't play that" was a massive catchphrase people often used. It was almost as big as the 2000s, "I'm Rick James, B***h."

U S S Tripoli 1989 thru 1991. Engineering and Supply department in the same berthing area ( sleeping quarters) and every Sunday night every one of us Squids would watch Living Color, Simpson's and Married with Children. Hilarious times from the Gen X daze!

I think Homey was better suited to pick up litter on the sides of highways than to be a clown, but you know those work release programs aren't flawless. 🤷♂
David Allen Grier was AWESOME in the 1980s movie "Beer" with Loretta Swit (of MASH fame) and RIP Torn. Hilarious movie.
