That cookie basket is a bon voyage tin circa 1911. It was made to give to travelers in upper class on ships traveling across the ocean

The gorgeous painted milk glass bowl is Challinor Taylor's Tree of Life!!! C.1890!!!
We feed the finches thistle!! You can buy it in a sock you hang outside . We are bird watchers!!
You should’ve got the turtle candle holder for the large marble & sold them together, since they seemed to go well together. ♥️

We accidently grew a sunflower last year. We had given our chickens some organic sunflower seeds as a treat and some must have fell outside the coop because by midsummer, we had a huge, beautiful sunflower growing right beside it. It's probably too late this summer to see if that would happen again but next year, I'm planting some seeds... on purpose this time! 😊

Jocelyn that weird bone thing in the case with the Dala horses is a shark jaw. Ordem e Progresso is the Brazilian flag motto. It means Order and Progress. The yellow and blue design is a stylized version of the design on the flag. (I didn't know that! I looked it up because I'm a retired librarian and I can't help looking stuff up. All the time!)

The tray is a reinterpretation, so to speak, of the Brazilian flag (the colors are different). "Ordem e progresso" is Portuguese for "order and progress", which is what is written on our flag. :)

The little beetle with the head both times reminded me of the movie "The Fly" old black and white one is great, new one ok.
For the cat pee smell, soak it in water mixed with borax. It works great on Baby throwup and urine also to disinfect and get rid of smells.

I can't believe those blow molds are so expensive!!!! We put those up in the 70's at our house and I feel like they look so cheap!!! Everything comes back around again!
I had Sunflowers last year, and the finches loved them. I’ll plant them again next year. Those Lladro figurines were probably in a jewelry store. Wow! The stained glass windows for only $25.
I live in California… no sunflowers here, but I am glad that other states can enjoy the beauty of nature ❤️
Hi Jocelyn, I thought that owl was nice the first time around. Years ago my Mom fed the birds from a feeder by our back porch and one year a sunflower grew from where the bird food had fell on the ground. We just thought the birds were thanking my Mom for feeding them. LOL! The next year there were more sunflowers that grew. It was so neat to watch all the different birds eat them Sending HUGS!! I am almost sure that my Mom also had that hanging pumpkin decoration or I did. My goodness. No wonder my Mom always said never throw anything away because you just never know when you might need it or what things will be worth someday. I really should have listened.

Gold finches love coneflower/ echinacea flowers it is the same flower common name coneflower it is from the daisy family. I have hundreds of them they fill a space quickly and come back every year. The gold finch lands on the top of the flower head and he can sit on that flower while he plucks the seeds out.
Yes plant sunflower seeds in spring and you will get lots of gold finches on the flowers feeding on the seeds.

That is a marble! There is a marble museum near me (House of Marbles, Devon, UK) and they have art marbles that size, displayed. They have some incredible examples. The one you picked up is probably worth £80-100 as it’s comparable to the more modern art marble examples for sale in their shop. But perhaps yours is vintage and worth more? Good find!
I have this really cool little tape measure with a little notebook with a pen also. Carry it always. We got it from the place we bought a new refrigerator from.

Yup, in my backyard, had my mouth open and you guessed it, a darn bug flew in. I was hacking and coughing! I'm ready for Fall myself and actually have my Halloween stuff out all year round. Just love Halloween, Fall and that first frosty breeze blowing through my hair. No bugs flying around! Glad you did get the beetle though, he was awfully cute!

Goldfinches LOVE thistle seed! You can attract them to your feeder with ‘Nyger Seed’ that you can get anywhere you buy birdseed. 😊

Put Thistle and safflower seeds in your feeder. You will get lots of finches, chickadees, and cardinals.
You should tuck a small-sized tape measure or a sewing measurement tape into your purse for times when you're browsing and want to know if something will fit in your transom windows or into the back of your Subaru. There are ruler apps for your phone, too.

Finches love sunflowers ! We plant smaller sunflowers for them they eat the seeds
We feed birds and get lots of goldfinches, house finches, chickadees, woodpeckers, robins & of course sparrows. Blue Jays & cardinals once in a while too. So fun to watch them bathe in our many fountains.

You should check some of the red glass for a glow. Vaseoline glass comes in alot of colors. I knew someone who had red, blue that had a glow.

When you get short furniture like that in U.K. which is obviously old and primitive it can be that it existed in a farmhouse setting on a flagstone floor and the constant swilling and washing with water has rotted the feet / lower parts which then get cut off
Sometimes they get replaced and you can see the newer additions other times they are left off which affects the height

If you want gold finches, dedicate a small section of your property to thistle. Unlike other birds, they nest in the fall when the thistle goes to seed. That is what they feed their young. And about measuring those stain glass. You don't carry a small retractable tape measure?? I mean I have one in my purse all the time, mainly for measuring fabric but you know........ LOL
