Welcome to the best way to learn history. Sabaton was founded in Falun , Sweden 1999 and this year they celebrate 25 years of the band. They are very passionate about history, they do not glorify war, they tell stories which they believe are worth telling and they even have their own history channel, Sabaton History, where a historian explains the events told in their songs. Tommy joined the band in 2016 and few days ago he announced that he'll leave the band later this year so he can have more time for his own band Majestica and his solo projects. Other band members are: Joakim Brodén -vocals (and keyboards in studio), songwriter; Pär Sundström - bass, lyrics (with Joakim), band manager; Chris Rörland - lead guitar, some songwriting with Joakim; Hannes Van Dahl - drums (married to Floor Jansen from Nightwish). I hope for more Sabaton reactions, I suggest songs Christmas Truce, En Livstid I Krig live in Gothenburg (it's in Swedish so turn on cc) and No Bullets Fly animated story video.

Nice to see you start exploring Sabaton. Bismarck is a very good introduction to the band.
When on tour Sabaton always takes time to visit military memorials, museums and meeting veterans of all nations.
The skipper in the intro is actually the son of the last survivor from Bismarck. The pocket compass is a true relic from the ship engraved with the position of the wreck.
Tommy has written few songs for Sabaton, one of them actually about a Canadian scout and sniper in WWI. A Ghost In The Trenches.
With your interest in lyrics I heavily recommend Sabatons cover of 1916 by Motörhead. Be sure to watch the video to the very end, due to all the information in the outro. It was arranged and adapted to Sabatons style by Tommy. The original by Lemmy Kilminster is very emotional as well.
It's often said that Tommy has the best voice in Sabaton,but Joakim has the right voice for their music.
Sabaton might not be relaxing music, but the lyrics are often very potent.

Tommy only does background vocals in Sabaton (besides playing the guitar and at odd accations the keyboard ) ..he does have some singing in between songs at concerts sometimes ..as just a bit of fun ..he actually announced that he is stepping down from Sabaton this year to be able to give time to his other projekcts where he is singer, songwriter and guitarist (mulitinstrumnetalist), He has had to cancel tours with Majestica because of Sabatons touring schedule before and this year both bands are working on new materials ..whisch means touring. As you see in this video Sabaton are HUGE and they even have their own historychannel and this year they released a movie that was shown at museums around the world (all museums used it/displayed it in driffrent ways). What Sabaton does goes far beyond just their music ..its not uncommon to use their music in class teaching history to children motivating them to view hisotry as something fun and exiting

The drummer Hannes van Dahl is married to Floor Jansen of Nightwish. Check out Sabatons christmas truce , where Floor sings the end credit.

Sabaton no bullets fly. A docu rock vid about ww2 B 17 and a german fighter, who became friends after the war.
Regarding the video for this song. It's I made in collaboration with the producers of the video game World of Warships, exclusively for this video.
The footage from the fishing boat is authentic, and the described it as quite harsh to shoot. 😊

Joakim has said that he uses to rolling Rs to both hide his accent and to improve diction. Diction is very imports in their song becauce of the subject matter of the lyrics of the songs.
