      I'm a sucker for natural wood finishes. Very nice indeed. Zombies anything to do with the final choice? (Fastest and all 😈).

    oil and 2000 grit makes a really cool professional finish

    I am also fond of that 'woody' look when building kits. And this guitar looks stunning, really your own unique instrument. And with just a thin layer of finish, the wood can breathe and sing. I really hate those thick stiff poly coats on modern production guitars

    dammit... having seen how gorgeous that came out, of course I need to get one as well. My wife is going to kill me. All of those things will happen. That notwithstanding, that guitar looks absolutely beautiful. Ditching the scratch plate was a great choice there. Got to reinforce your point about those amaranth fretboards. They are extremely dry, so keeping them oiled is a really good point. Damn that came out beautiful! Great work!

    I bought that CST-24 but with the humbuckers instead of the P90's so I got the coil-split option, also although I'm not really a tremelo user I did get the T version over the fixed bridge option so I got the benefit of adjustable intonation & I'll just block it from moving..

    WqW!!! Kudos, Brent! At 5:04, the top in that light and angles loos to have a shimmering effect because of the oil in the long, close grain. And at 7:20, it almost looks like a Goldtop in the video light. I noticed that earlier, at the start of the video, too. Also, more kudos for the charity work. You're a good brother. :D

    So I finally got the kit. First time I would say Thomann blew it. The seam lines in the top were super visible, and the worst part was that they drilled the holes for the truss rod cover off center. The back was all scuffed up and fucked up like someone tried to sand it and gave up. Giving up and returning it was not an option, so I forsee some stoned sanding happening for many hours. I could forgive all if the seams weren't so obvious, but we'll see what can yet be done. Worst case scenario, I'll follow the Stones' advice and paint it black. :)

      @@BrentHutchinson eh stuff happens. It won't look as cool as yours does, but I'm going for a similar look. I ALMOST tried a RIT dye on the top, but I chickened out. Maybe there will be a companion Tele or SG build. I have to say that the quality of the other instruments I've gotten from them, I can totally forgive it. Too bad shipping from the US would be brutal, I'd donate some of my tele builds to the charity.
      BTW because you are awesome, I wanted to mention Vinyl Junkies. Very cool pirate radio show on CZcams. If you get time check him out. Good group of people, great tunes, and Sam is a fucking maniac. He's rad.

    Great video, thanks for sharing and giving me a few ideas along the way. I am up for one of these just for the fun of customisation. Did you fit the electrics as supplied because many say they have to de solder a wire on the pots and move it along as you only get volume on or off, nothing in between. No problem anyway if thats the case but it’s in enough reviews as a known problem for the factory to rectify.

    • @BrentHutchinson
      @BrentHutchinson  Před 4 lety

      Hi no I didn't but then I dont really ride the volumes anyway. Lots of room for mods though. Enjoy :)

    Turned out great! That grain pattern on the back of the neck is gorgeous! Question: why did you remove the sealer before applying the Tung Oil? Will the oil not stick to the sealer? Cheers!

    • @BrentHutchinson
      @BrentHutchinson  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi mate I removed the sealer because it was inconsistent and I wanted a smoother finish. Also it allows the oil to penetrate the grain giving a nicer look. :)
