      Many of those are Travel Trailers, not Mobile homes. Travel parks *used* to provide additional facilities (Showers, Laundries, play areas) for the folk using them as part of the fee. Now everything is EXTRA (still if available).
      If the County is applying Mobile Home standards, it is no surprise they find 'violations'. Is this place zoned as a Mobil Home (AKA Manufactured Housing) or as a Travel park (sometimes call a campground)? IMHO this is a case where prop 13 is broken, allowing owners to charge 'Market rent', but being taxes off the base rate rules. Do I want Prop 13 'fixed'. NO WAY, to much chance they will add loopholes that will allow taxes to go UP for Mom and Pop

      This is mobile home parks everywhere these days. They used to lump in water and trash into the site rent but now they don't AND lot rents have gone up pretty significantly. You can own your hone but still have to pay a lot fee and deal with strict rules and you get basically no benefit out of paying the lot rent. They like to hand out violations and complaints over the littlest of things. Growing up, my family and I lived in mobile homes quite a few times. It was never like this back then. The corporations who own them are very predatorial. I've considered getting one because I'm sick of living in the apartment complex I'm in but I'm trying to stay put because it's cheaper.

      Some parks may be owned by mom n pop businesses and the rates haven't gone up so quickly. But in many MH parks, especially in the west, investors and large management companies have bought these properties. They immediately jack up the rent and often drive lower income people, especially seniors, away. It's part of their business plan and it's pretty disgusting.

      @@kohort1 less reasonable? Yes it makes it much less reasonable. First thing you should know is there is a much larger more affluent area called Atherton that shares a border with NFO (North Fair Oaks). Gentrification has been moving out of there. Most of Redwood City's gentrification has been focused on the Northern El Camino are about 6 miles to the north of here.
      Redwood city did have a chance to annex NFO but refused back in 2010 and while the city council has always been developer friendly they did not want to pay to upgrade the water, power, sewer and storm drains in this location.
      What is most likely happening is the property owners want to take the $1200 a month each of those renters are bringing in on 78 spaces , thats $93,600 a month and use it for their home and businesses in Texas.

    • @patti3d
      @patti3d Před rokem

      A space fee and rent are two different things. They most likely own the mobile and pay a space fee. A rental involves the living space you dwell in. So 1200 is high. If they are renting then the park owner should repair the utilities in the park plus mobilehome repairs. So 1200 is high if you have to repair all your mobile home needs. The state has not kept up with yearly inspections, now is in hot pursuit with all the mobile homes in the state. During a recession! Geez.

In tech most entry level people make 110k a year. Many of those are willing/forced to spend 50-70% of their pay on rent. $1200 per month is a sin. For that amount park management should just go and help the residents. Hire someone and pay to fix the violations! Less than lawyers and the suffering you are causing!

      Lol. I wish it only was 40 billion. That was just one payment. There's been so many that I have stopped trying to keep track. I think the first down payment was 6.4 billion. Followed by 3 consecutive payments of 800 million per week. We got a brief pause while first the democrats flew over there to negotiate their cut, and then the Republicans flew over to negotiate theirs. Instead of the 37 billion that Zelenskyy wanted, they approved the 40 billion. Then it was about a week later we got off light with only 120 million. Then a couple of 200 million dollar deals. Last I heard we went to 1 billion a month.
      The missing baby formula went to Ukraine in the form of humanitarian aid.
      And for some reason every government agency is buying automatic weapons and ammunition with their budgets. All of those weapons will be unaccounted for in the future. Anyone know why the IRS needs automatic weapons?

    $1200/month for what?! That’s insane, get the kcuF out of Cali, that alone will help in the long run. “Easier said than done”, I’m sure. I can guarantee there’s a buyer on deck ready to demolish and charge their next victims even more for nothing, the city/county is just playing dumb to avoid backlash.

    That's prime high-density luxury condo real estate right there. This is the SF Bay Area. Can't afford to live here? Nobody cares, get out. Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Florida await you. I've seen buildings on the S.F. Peninsula barely 20 years old get torn down to make way for more and more condos.
