The EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra may sound like the big brother to the top selling Delta Pro we are all familiar with, but this unit lands itself in an ENTIRE new category. Is it a powerful, beast of a unit? Of course! SHOULD YOU BUY IT? That is the real question. When you look at the price of the delta pro Ultra vs a full Custom Solar Kit... things get shaky, there is definitely more bang for you buck out there (full custom home back up, or off-grid solar kits, come with a full roof of panels, and typically a little bit larger inverter and battery bank sizes) however.... the Ultra is the simplest, plug and play solution we have ever seen...

One thing to think about too with the Eco-Flow Delta Pro Ultra versus the all-in-one kit. The Delta Pro Ultra is capable of being removed and put in a car if you need to take off or you move.
Wait, you can't move this thing that's on rollers and only weight 70-116 lbs? What???
I agree with you 100%. I have 18kw worth of eco flow batteries with 8x400w eco flow rigid panels. I could literally take everything with me in 1-2 hrs if I were ever to move. My grid tied system would have to stay on the house. Wish I had waited for this new system 2 yrs ago even though I love the delta pro. The plus with the ultra is able to use more panels.
Yes, because lugging around hundreds of pounds of off grid equipment is EXACTLY what people want to do with this product!!!
@@charlieodom9107 you appear to be confusing “capable” with “should”…
@@heart4Pahoa no, not in the least. Many people are capable of many things they shouldn't be doing, and vice versa.
Portability is not something anyone buying this product will give a fuck about.
Can't wait for the upcoming test and review, you answered alot of my questions. Thanks
can't wait to see the results with the home test, great video 🙌
I can't afford an EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra BUT, after seeing you riding around on your Pro Ultra makes me want one SO much more!!
I would say the best part of the unit is you can easily take it with you if you move. It's a big investment and I wouldn't want to leave all of my equipment behind if I bought a new house.
100% that's a huge benefit of systems like this!
Great video, honest review. Thank you
WOW, that unit is a beast! I have the Ecoflow Delta Max 2000wh and I definitely like it no doubt. Thanks for sharing man!
Thanks for the video. I have a ef 1200 very old ,got it in '21 to run my tiny home . It did kinda, I couldn't run the washer/dryer and I had to charge it every day to maybe get through the nights. Currently using a Growat 3k a 3500w gas generator for low sun days in the high desert. Would love to have this and 3-4 batteries . I could power the house and the future garage.
Excellent review thanks.
Great review! I do the DIY route myself, something satisfying about designing/building your own systems, you have a deeper understanding about how everything comes into play. But, something like this would simplify things for the wife (At a premium price). Like your style, refreshing.
This is the route I want to go. How much did you spend if you don’t mind me asking?
Great vid boys!
Great Info Great Video 👍
I don't know how serious I can take someone that does solar reviews and doesn't have a secret lab.
Who says we don’t have a secret lab 🤨
lol@@TheSolarLab
Nice video I like that you're not sponsored I will subscribe for sure...... Tear it down I want to see the inside!
Ecoflo has a video on that.
I'm thinking of adding the Ecoflow smart home panel 2 to the Ultra. Its all very nice plug and play. But I'm not sure what's required to ground and fuse the solar panels before plugging in the mc4 connectors to the Ultra.
Thank you! The one thing that drives me nuts with EcoFlow is they use proprietary connectors. I'd love to see a 240v charge input with the 240v output. For people in apartments who can't convince the apt to install the Ecoflow sub panel, but could possibly get them to install a quick interconnect plug.
Have you had a problem with delta pro ultra sold by amazoz? The q/a:"Is ac pass through possible with 120v input? A:Use the c20 outlet for a bypass mode with a 120v input. There is no bypass mode for 240v input. AC output is turned off at this time."
So I just installed an emergency sub panel, but decided to go with a predator 5000 for now. Ultimately, I wish to get one of these ebackup solutions. They're just so expensive.
When all hell breaks loose, my plan is to have my generator charge the electric backup. Once charged, switch the home over to battery. I'll do this as long as necessary to get us through the outage.
I actually like to hear those fans working cuz the cooler batteries work the safest and longest they last.
You guys have a nice set of videos so far. I’m looking forward to your review of the Hysolis Apollo I saw in the background. I’m curious on your thoughts of how the delta pro ultra and the Apollo stack against each other.
Hmm, One is a 7K and the other is a 5K and they are about the same price. I would not need any more than that as far as comparison.
Thank you!! We plan to make that video in the coming months, the Apollo is such a unique unit🤘🏼
Seems like a super well-designed and well thought-out product. The challenge for the “everyday” person is connecting it to your breaker box.
You get the Smart Home Panel 2
It's not that hard to hook it up to your Main Control Panel. You have three options:
1) Smart Home Panel 2
2) Interlock Switch
3) Manual Transfer Switch
Do your research on the pros/cons of each option and local NEC laws.
@@Pk3_Garage I like the interlock switch the best also lowest cost. I am thinking of this unit with 3 batteries from Costco for $8999
Great overview, Thank You - I wonder if you have a video that shows how to connect this unit to the hose electric panel and switch automatically when the power grid fails - Also, ca you show the number of units needed to provide power for a house with 3 refrigerators, water heater, HVAC system, and electric stove and media center... Thank you in advance for your help.
PS: My highest monthly usage is 573KWH.
Could y evaluate how this could be installed and removable at times in all electric RV vans like the Detroit based Grounded 2 or up coming MB Esprinter all wheel drive vans being removable for other uses when necessary and despite price and weight could even recharge a RV battery for range extension beyond 250 minimum for in a pinch? Solar panels also on van roof?
Great video! Your subscriber number will be growing fast
Thank you ⚡️⚡️⚡️
So what do we need to do for a solar array to keep this powered if no grid power for recharging?
Very good video. Maybe a dumb question with today's new battery technology. My neighbor wants to stay away from these for back up power, as he is worried about battery fires. As mentioned, with new battery technology, what is the likelihood of battery fires with these new batts, and inverter setups? Also, so you don't need to use solar to charge these? For the short term, I guess I would just use the grid to charge them, and eventually move to solar, to get off the grid. I own the much smaller Eco Flow River, and charge that with two 110v panels. Thanks again for the good video.
And the great news is that now everyone else is going to do an all-in-one system and these things will be 1/2 price in 2-3 years.
Exactly! Affordable simplicity is in sight🤘🏼
I'm considering this unit for daily use to power several circuits in my home (appropriately sized and spec'd). Is it just for home backup or can it/should it be used this way especially considering the life of the batteries? Also, how much ambient heat does it generate, say with one inverter and three batteries working at 50% capacity and frequent cycling...can it be stored in a closet for example w/o the risk of overheating? I'm a novice in this space but learning quickly. Any advice on these questions would be helpful, thanks.
If I wanted to power a small shed, off grid mostly with some panels on the roof to recharge. A ductless AC, dehumidifier (Florida), computer and some lights and a few other things. Would You say this model or the last delta pro?
It's modular, that's the reason why it's so popular. Almost the same as computer enthusiast cause we can upgrade or downgrade with ease and not worried about technical jargon to specific people or person.
I just got my Ultra in and running test on my 2 refrigerators and freezer at the same time. Just wanting to see how long one battery will run them. I, like you, wanted the DYI kit because I'm cheep too. But, I have an RV I spend 3 months in the woods during deer season & 3 months at the lake in the summer. I'm 60 & retired. But the flexibility to not pay $50 per night at the lake for a power site & a backup for the house was best for me. I'm going to get 2 of the Zigs or Cigs (sp) 400watt flex roll up panels. Great video man; also do some affiliate links to make some money. You can offer discount codes to us doing that. Everyone has to make money.
Update?
I like the idea of this product and its integrated, expandable system approach. I do have one thing that I cannot seem to find a definitive answer on. Can I use my Honda EU2200i generator to charge on the 120 volt charging plug, while connecting the output of the DPU to the generator inlet box on my house? The idea being that under light loads the generator is keeping the DPU topped up, but under heavier loads the DPU can combine battery/generator? That way I could use the DPU for heavy draws, and also extend the useful run time of the generator.
Test if the Eco-FLow Delta Pro Ultra can be tested to run a freezer and for what length of time.
I am getting ready to buy a new home. I live alone, don't know anything about this stuff but want a backup system. Would love to see results after a few months usage before I consider purchasing this.
Probably best to just buy a good generator for your home. I love the idea but these are just way too expensive right now
Do you have portable options for renters??
I have an existing Ecoflow Power Kit in my van. Do you know if the same cable connectors are used on the Ultra that were used on the Power Kit? would be nice to just slap this baby in and use the cables i already ran for AC in, PV in, DC out , and even my existing 5kwh ecoflow batteries. etc.
Question i have Enphase solar panel system. ( no backup battery generator or anything ).... Can i use this Ecoflow Ultra with my existing Enpahse panels to charge the Ecoflow ultra? I'm not sure if you can answer this. Or can you at least point me in the right direction? Thanks
Can the ultra be charged with the car's cigarette lighter port to the ultra via anderson port?
I have just installed a SolarEdge 8.25kw inverter with home battery and backup box. Along with 8.7kw of QCells panels. I can't see how this Ecoflow unit would do what i need
I am seriously looking at installing the Ultra with 3 extra batteries. I already have 12KW solar array and a 20KW generator. Living so close to the ocean is eating my Genset alive so i have to switch soon for whole house backup. The Genset has a transfer switch so I am wondering where to position EcoFlo transfer switch. It seems every year we have a week long outage. I am thinking 24KW output can be recharged everyday by the solar panels but if there is a week of solid cloud can the generator be started to power the house and at the same time recharge the batteries.
I would love one of these due to how clean & quite they operate compared to a gas generator but I see the Delta Pro Ultra 6,000 watt is $6,300 online. A Generac Guardian 18,000-Watt (LP)/17,000-Watt (NG) Air-Cooled Whole House Generator with Wi-Fi and 200-Amp is $5,163 Plus installation. Is there another combination of Delta brand batteries with enough to power a whole house that would be less expensive? I would also want a fuel fired generator, smallest size possible, that could be used the recharge the Delta. During a blizzard or high wind event the solar panels wouldn't cut it for me. Thanks!
Do you know if the Delta Pro Ultra works with the Delta Pro accessories? Example Ac alternator charger to charge while driving/ or ev adapter to charge at fast charging stations around the country??
@TheSolarLab You made a comment about DP Ultra being in a different category than DPro.What did you mean by that? Is the Delta Pro better for continuous use and DP Ultra better for strictly limited backup use? I didn't quite catch what you meant there. Thanks!
Curious just how many appliances you can run simultaneously with 1x inverter and 2x batteries…to avoid over powering it (and what happens if you do run too much off it??). Will the app warn you before any long term damage is done?
Do you think this would work for my food trailer?
I don’t know anything about the power setup I have, but I am learning quickly. I think, this actually may make a lot of sense for food truck/trailers as long as I am understanding everything correctly.
what a funny ass video. I loved it. Great job.
Going to add their Home Panel 2?
Expensive tho but Yunno
You use the L14 Plug just use Plug and Use for less technical guys or use the Smart Home Panel for the other Guys
Versatility is good too
The thing I like about EcoFlow is the price. You can use this beast as a battery backup for your computer. You will not find a PC battery/surge backup device with the wattage output you can get with an EcoFlow any where near that price. The PC marketed devices are 3X the price of EcoFlow. I can power my Verizon Fios, OTN, Router and PC on this thing.
Dabbsson 13.6kw system with 4000w output can be bought for less than £7000 in U.K. it looks a lot better option? It can take 6400w solar input so stacks up really well compared to this ?
Dinos carry around gas generators for a reason, proven to work. 😂 Great video
How does it take to recharge
Can I plug mini split directly in.
I've heard that some products- tesla power wall- doesn't play nicely with well pumps, submersible or jet.
We just lost our monodrive- pump controller- to a wind event that caused a bunch of micro interruptions (sorry) to our local utility
Can you run a test to see if this how this integrates as a surge protected pump power supply and works with a solid state monodrive...
there may also ve opportunities to look at how this connects to other farm infrastructure like milking robots or computerized fan/ feed control systems
Will this work in South Africa?
I'm curious, why didn't you update the firmware before testing? That tool icon on the screen indicates an influencer unit sent out by EcoFlow (not a unit that was purchased). When you update the firmware that icon goes away.
We were leant the unit from some friends and had no idea what the wrench meant until people started commenting 😂
@@TheSolarLab Thanks for explaining. I'm still unsure why you (or your friend) wouldn't have updated the firmware before making a video because EcoFlow did fix a few things that weren't working great on the pre-production units. Also, definitely not trying to be accusatory but curious, are you also borrowing all of the power stations/inverters in the background? Or were those gifted or purchased?
I’m extremely disappointed there is not an adapter for the original Smart Home Panel. In order for me to upgrade to the Delta Pro Ultra, I have to rip out the original Smart Home Panel (SHP) and replace it with the Smart Home Panel 2 (I confirmed this with EcoFlow Customer Support). $3,500 for the new SHP2 (with install) and a loss of $3,500 for the old SHP just doesn’t work. That’s $7,000. There is no upgrade path for me without this loss unless they can provide an adapter. Otherwise a big NO for me on the upgrade.
Yea we were also sad to see the change… huge pain for anyone who has already invested in some equipment🤦🏼♂️
@@TheSolarLab Like you said, it's they're following Apple's model
What is the amount if I want to buy it please
So what is the amp hour of each battery?
where do I go, or who do I talk to, to figure out how to light a billboard through solar and battery and/or parking light/security lights.
you can try calling somewhere like ShopSolar, maybe Signature Solar, and explain your needs and see if they can help!
does any one know if this can handle extreme cold and heat if you use the off the grid?
I saw this thing at costco with 2 batteries and a smart panel 2 for $8k. I wonder if I could use this and the panel with my current setup which is 39 solar panels with enphase inverters that is grid tied.
I was thinking of setting up this panel 2 with essential breakers like fridge, well pump, water system etc and then have the delta pro ultra be a backup if my UPS for the house and also have it either grid charged or solar charged. Anyone know if this is possible with this one unit and the smart panel?
Does?
Anybody know if you can use the smart 1800 watt dual fuel smart generator to charge the ultra
$5,799 is not cheap, not everyone has that kind of money to spend!
What about the Apollo K5, it’s an all-in-one solution also. I haven’t seen you do a review of this one, as it’s the closest competitor, I think to the Eco flow ultra!
Stay tuned for a review of that unit ⚡️
This is what I am waiting for. Apollo seems to have a few features that I am leaning towards. Fast Charging being one of them. I do like the futuristic form factor of the Ultra. I just want to be able to hook up more solar to this system.
I heard the fans that sounding really loud
What the best system for me to be able to get enough solar to full a Tesla car up to 100% daily, without pulling from the grid? I drive 240 miles a day from Bakersfield, CA to LAX 5 to 6 days a week and from Bakersfield to city of industry 3 to 4 times a month. From what I’ve seen so far a Tesla isn’t cheap than a civic or hybrid car.
I would probably get an all in one 10wk inverter for about $1800 and 2 of the lifepower 4 batteries and call it a day.
When you say affordable what does that actually mean?
i need this for my solar system, but I can't afford it .. Yet. I am getting solar installed at 37k. This will leave me broke. but I will need to save up 18k to get me one of those that will last me 24 hours or longer. I prefer the 60KwH option but can't afford that either. I need patience. then I can get it. I need it cause i want to be able to go totally off Grid and only have to pay for gas. 900.00 in my Electric bill is about what i currently pay on my Mortgage.
MONSTER!
I'd love to see it discharging 240V while hooked up to a generator. None of the videos I've seen show whether that is possible!
5600W of solar is actually quite a bit and seems like a good size for this unit.
Not what YOU were expecting ;-)
With the full kit that’s a lot of things that can go wrong when you do it yourself and might cost you more money in the end. If you make even a single mistake on the way. Certainly will cost you way more time
The 'red wrench' on your unsponsored Delta Pro Ultra means it's a preproduction unit that was released before retail sales 🤷 did you just inherit it from another channel or something?
We actually did get it leant to us by some local solar guys! We couldn’t figure out what the wrench meant until you guys started commenting😂
@@TheSolarLab if you upgrade the firmware to the latest version the wrench on the display will go away.
I like to know if i plug that 30 apm out let to my RV power panel, will it keep running if the power goes out from the shore power
And can i charge the batteries and use shore power from that invert
Yes, There is a 240V 30A out on the front and then there is also a 2nd port on the side that is 30A in and out but it requires a additional cable.
I’d be curious to see that as well since it would be ac charging then supplying dc my delta pros wired to 50amp have problems on my 5th wheel while running high loads and charging. (Both acs tv lights etc) I’m sure since the inverter is so huge on these it wouldn’t be and issue
Heres a question: Why would anyone buy the Ecoflow power kit, when they can get more juice outta the Delta ultra for the same money?
They needed to leave well enough alone with the PowerKit and expand that. This ant now the Ocean …… why
Can I charge my rivian with this ?
Sure can! (assuming you have the right plugs)
Nice review guys. Just curious: I see a red wrench icon on your display. As I understand it, that icon only appears on pre-production review units sent for free as compensation for making a video. If you’re receiving thousands of dollars’ worth of free gear, you're sponsored.
Thank you! & we had about 200 subscribers when we posted this video - I wish it was sponsored😂 That explains the wrench though.. we couldn’t figure out what it was! Not that it’s really anyone’s business, but this specific unit was actually leant to us to film with by some local solar guys!
remain calm todd
Great video. What I would like for you to test is IF a single inverter will charge 5 batteries fully from only solar (LV & HV) on a daily basis with optimal sunlight? To me the inverter seems that it might be under powered for off grid purposes. This may be designed more for the occasional black out. Thanks!
Bonjour je veux être autonome pendant 4 jours minimum que me conseilles tu stp ?????
i subscribed OUR OPINIONS MAY NOT BE BOUGHT
I wish I could win something like this for my school backup until 😢
Or one other note if you want to make a test with it. Won't you hook it up to your house show how one battery cannot run your whole house and that pull out fall in power without at least 3 batteries, and you won't have full capacity of power to last all night long or all the zon as it needs to last with all 5 batteries and you can't get the full impact out because it aint gonna run at 7200 W without more than one battery.

Since you are a new person with a Delta pro ultra, I'll make it real simple for you to build a pros. And it's 4 expansion. Batteries can connect to a hub with one delta pro ultra and its batteries into a hob that can be into You're house. And you should watch Jenny videos from other CZcams. People who got the ultra pro Delta. That I would explain that to you. So you wouldn't make a fool, I'd say it's. I'll say they cannot combine together one way or another.

Ecoflow has such horrific customer service . My Delta pro ultra don't charge same way, I sent pictures and their tech just play email tag with me for 3 weeks on going now without fixing it . I might have to take Ecoflow to small claims court if they don't fix it . Solar charging stops working , I bought and support 7x of their products and they are not even trying to fix it . delta pro ultra just sitting dead and taking up space and getting on my skin
70 Lbs is lightweight for a 7,200 Watt inverter charger with an onboard MPPT. The reason why it's so lightweight is that it lacks a crucial component that's found in real, heavy duty, hybrid inverter chargers. That crucial component is an iron core, copper wound transformer that not only provide for a much higher peak power capacity, but makes for a much safer inverter that provides galvanic isolation between its DC section and its AC output which is something that this cheap inverter can't possibly provide. In addition, this "Ultra" unit doesn't even have a UL-1741 safety listing. So no thanks!
What do you think about the anker f3800???
He thought this one was ugly with all those cubes behind him. 😒😒
The price is insanely high. Should be much cheaper.
