  • Can you wear a beret with a kilt?
Well, let's be clear, a LOT of merchants, and just regular people, will refer to many Scottish hats such as the Tam as a "beret". The Balmoral hat, Caubeen hat and the tam all gt called "berets".
    They are not, of course.
But can you wear a French beret with a kilt?
Can you wear a military beret with a kilt?
Can you combine a military beret or other hat with traditional Highland dress?
What is a Scottish golf hat called?
How do you wear a Scottish bonnet?
    What is a Scottish Bunnet?

If you're going to use a Beret, I'd defidently suggest prepping it military style, in general it looks better that way, than the stereotypical French Beret and you can add a cap badge to it as well.
-Place the Beret on head and adjust the size using the ribbons
-Tie-off the ribbons and cut off the excess
-Dry shave the outside of the Beret
-Soak in warm water for 1 minute
-Wring out excess and place it on your head
-While its still semi-wet, mold it into the typical shape drooping over the right ear. Note: Make sure the area where the cap badge goes (Usually denoted by the small "board" on the inside) is directly over your left eye.
-Let it mold to the shape of your head until its semi-dry (which takes a while)
-If you feel its molded enough to your head, you can take it off and use a blow-dryer to help dry it further.

I do as I please. Kilt. Tee shirt with an unbuttoned vest, or a tank top in hot weather. Docker cap on my head with a big roll. I have two dockers, khaki and gray. Sometimes, a flat cap but I prefer the docker caps.

You need to link the full episode in the notes - I end up watching a lot of JOE ROGAN because they do so.

For me I'd have to use some kind of brimmed hat for outdoor use, or in bright rooms even if I was in formal wear due to light sensitivity due to being visually impaired.

Most women don't wear hats for formal evenings ( they spent hours on hairdo), unless it is a 'Fascinator' head decor "hat" - think of feathers , lace or illusion, ribbon on a very small base or hairband. You could have a tartan ribbon/bow. The woman could Google ideas.

In the movie "Rob Roy" with Liam Neeson when the Duke or Marquis who hosted the final duel came riding up, both he and his entourage were wearing these uniquely oversized and stately looking Balmorals. Any idea where I can get one of those? I think they would prove really popular. I just queued up the last duel and there is a really good look at it at the end. when his Lordship stands up looking in awe at the outcome once Rod claves the bad guy in two. Check it out and let me know what you think. Is it doable but maybe a little more conservative in fabric? czcams.com/video/ERmM5l2ceoY/video.html

The civilian beret (French, Basque, or otherwise), military beret, tam'o'shanter, and traditional Scots blue bonnet all descend from a common lineage documented to spring from several similar Medieval styles but presumed to date to antiquity. These caps were extraordinarily practical, and were usually large enough or stretchable enough to be pulled down over the ears in inclement weather. Related Renaissance styles sometimes had a short floppy brim that extended the way round the cap, and by the time that style had developed may have lost their stretchiness. Also descended from this common lineage are the "8-piece apple" or newsboy cap, and the later "racing" or "automotive" cap, which is apparently more popular today in Ireland. Naturally these styles are pieced together along different patterns unlike traditional berets of knitted bonnets. I harbor a personal dislike for the racing cap style, but do favor newsboy caps. I have a coarse and fuzzy classic black and natural herringbone tweed newsboy made in Ireland by Jonathan Richard. It is my constant companion these last 30 years during fall and spring, abandoned only during the depths of winter for Nordic stocking caps, and during summer for various (usually felt) flat-brimmed "cowboy" hats. A good oversized tweed newsboy is as Scottish as Irish, as evidenced by traditional golfing attire: as such perfect for day wear with the kilt when weather requires. Baseball caps are a hideous abomination, especially those of the adjustable variety. They are appallingly déclassé, cheap, cheesy, and should never be worn with a kilt, or with anything else for that matter. They look best in a dumpster. We can now (and should) return to the fedora (or even homburg) for manly shading headgear.
