I actually take my dog out for a skate but its not for a long distance. Haven't trained her well enough to not cross my path and come to immediate stops if she spots a hydrant or somthing to pee on lol. She's a really nosy dog so we tend to stop alot cause she wants to smell everything. Great video btw and love your dog.

I skate with my dog 2 to 4 miles. She runs unleashed. We aren't near roads though

Consistently I would say about 4 years...it took me about 6 months to get really good at it though.

How do you build up the courage to skate without a helmet?
Are you falling backwards or forwards more?
I rarely fall, usually due to loss of traction whilst turning hard. Helmets are mandatory in my State, big fines for failure to wear one.
