Overall thoughts on the way the game feels: Definitely an arcade game but with hints of sim elements sprinkled in. Good - Fun to play - Easy enough to be approachable - Enough depth to challenge faster players - Requires finesse/precision to be really fast Bad - Collisions can be very annoying and awkward. - No real connection/feeling to the ground (floaty) - Can get tricky to maintain control of the car in some situations - Kerbs are overly dangerous
Cars randomly flipping into the air brings back memories of that one kerb at Oran Park in Toca, which used to launch everyone that went over it like a catapult. Nice to see Codemasters have not forgotten their roots.
I heard that theres going to be lots of dlc and stuff so im just gonna wait till it all comes out and then get it, hopefully by then i wont be depressed and wishing for death
Nae Nae depression is a debilitating illness. Been there and manage my mental health day by day, some days better than others. Best wishes to you. As for Grid 2019 I’m waiting for a sale. The original Grid was a monster, from what I’ve seen and heard this is a toothless ancestor
At 9:09 just look at how the car slingshots around that 90 degree corner at 150 mph, almost as if it were on rails. Astonishing display of realism........
the thing that's shit is the "career" is just a checklist of hundreds of events, whereas the actual good Codemasters games - the Toca Race Driver series - actually had a proper career and story, i really miss that.
exactly wrong my cro-bro Nikola. That's what all modern racing games have become, Forza is itself just a checklist of 1000 events with no reason to continue other than the grind. A story that's engaging compels you to carry on. They need to reduce the length of racing games from 1000 hours to about 50 and just have a good story.
I've bought it, the game is really, really good actually. Played both with xbox controller and wheel - both are good. Yes the career mode is lackluster, but overall, I recommend it.
I've played 2 hours on PC and can confirm that you can disable the stupid clean line points messages. Last week I replayed Grid 1, 2 and Autosport and this new Grid is so far clearly better than Grid 2 and Autosport. It doesn't have the surprise and impact of the original Grid, but I'm still pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. There's something about Grid 1 that was like a perfect combination of elements nobody will ever be able to do again. But new Grid is still good enough that I'm not disappointed. It reminds me a lot of Dirt 3 in how polished it feels and the easy flow of going into races, back to menu, and into the next race. I've seen many complain about the campaign structure, but IMO this is just the same as every other last-gen Codemasters game. I like it, but I can see how some might have expected more after the F1 games. If you've played a ton of Codemasters racing games like me I think you'll enjoy this.
I got in on my pc yesterday, it’s a ton of fun. It is Arcady, but sometimes I don’t feel like playing all my serious sim games. Def recommend in fun factor
I've a funny story about Grid. They gave away a car for the fastest lap a long time ago. I bought the game and broke the record in 20 laps but the competition was over a year earlier lol. I thought I'd easily won a car and was jumping around with joy lol.
Finally a return to Form. I loved Grid 1, I liked Grid 2. Grid autosport was just okay. While I like sim racers, it takes more time and practice to get good. The semi arcady games allow for a quicker jump in and go.
To me it seems like there is no continuity to how fast it looks like you're going. For the tuner cars it doesn't look like you're going that fast but the speedo reads a very unrealistic 1 million mph and you blast around corners at 150+. On other race disciplines there seems to be a more accurate speed reading. Just from spectating it seems like the tuner cars are the most arcadey of them all.
That is a problem with a lot of games. It seems they want to use the numbers to do the work instead of what you are seeing. Car looks like it's on a Sunday leisure drive, engine is roaring like it's being gutted and speedometer is topping out.
So far im disappointed with how they went about the livery system. You have to unlock livery patterns via leveling up and can only change the colors and can only turn the sponsors on or off. All the menus need to have a sort option to prioritize stuff you have already unlocked. You cant save livery patterns to apply to different cars. Most stuff in the game centers around the leveling system except for the career progression itself so playercard backgrounds & banners, liverys, and team mates. It feels like this system was built with microtransactions in mind but was removed or will be added at a later date. Im honestly baffled as to why they went with this system for progression. The way Career is structured, it probably wouldn't be a sufficient progression system to keep players engaged. I would have preferred the reputation system from GRID 1 for overall progression and free up player choice a bit more instead of locking them behind levels. So far these are my only complaints about this game, everything else is fantastic. A few of these can be changed later but the LVLs are staying unfortunately. Im fine with a LVLing system, just dont like unlockables.
some of this is pretty funny to read. I especially recall that you could move liveries between cars in grid 2. man, i was kinda excited for a decent semi-arcade game (especially since they advertised themselves with GTE cars incl. liveries from the start) that's better than grid 2 (it was ok, but it wasn't that great), but it looked horrible since super gt's first video.
does it feel repetitive with only so much tracks and cars (probably like gt sports 1.00 lol)? whats the point of getting money if you cant customise your car? is it just to buy new cars and other team members? what are the goals in "career" mode? just finishing 1st or do you have a target or hwo does it work/how do you progress?
Grid autosport was prob my favorite, grid 1 was fantastic but i played it before i got huge into racing games, playing this tomorrow morn after work so excited!!
So I just did a little test, I compared the new GRID to the first one, played both for some time and the conclusion is the following: New GRID compared to the first one pros: -Better graphics -Better sounds -Rain -Qualification -Teammate commands Cons: -basically everything -Worse car physics -Worse collision physics -Worse damage model -Worse mechanical damage -Worse career mode -No sense of progression -No radio comunication during race ( time gaps, accidents etc ) -No random intense races against Ravenwest -No demolition derby -No "24 hours" of Le Mans -Boring presentation -All cars feel almost the same -Tracks are boring, with the exception of the ones from the first GRID -No drift events ( not sure about this ) -No sense of accomplishment If you were/are a huge fan of the original GRID, avoid this new one like the plague, it doesn't worth your money, not even the time to download a pirated copy.
You would get even better lap times using the (manual) transmission to slow you down through downshifting rather than braking; only using brakes when you overshoot the Entry point to the Apex.
I need to buy this, the ambiance looks amazing just like grid 2008, the game world feels alive, most sims/ sim-cade games are extremely boring to look at, there is nothing going on. Its important to me because 90% of the time I play racing games I do hotlapping to beat my own times. It can get really boring on a plain jane track dead environment with absolutely nothing going on other than you driving.
Wow you're right! It's actually much much easier to make up ground on the AI with the assists off. That's a bit strange. You're right about the physics too, they're strange sometimes, the cars move way too fast around corners and when they're sliding. But it's still fun
Hello super gt. Was you playing grid on a standard ps4? If so, how was the framerate? I know it's stated that framerate is 30 fps on standard ps4 but how does it feel ? Any comparison to Driveclub? That was 30 fps and I was quite happy with that. Just some 30 fps games jump up and down constantly and it's really annoying especially in racing games. I bought a wrc game a while ago, think it was wrc6. Anyway the framerate was so terrible that I quit after 1 race. I bloody love racing games but when the framerate constantly fluctuates it's a very unenjoyable experience. I almost pre ordered grid, because I loved the ps3 version. Spent 100s of hours playing but the sense of speed seems lost in new 2019 grid. At top speed in cockpit view seems like ya going on a stroll. I'll prob pick this up when it's cheap. Not worth possibly wasting £45-£70 . I payed £4 on a impulse buy for ps3 grid and it was best buy I've made but I just think this seems like a step back .
This “Sim” looks very familiar to racedriver:Grid released back in 2008, I remember racing the chevy lacetti in championships & trying to find the “best” chevy lacetti on the in game market like auto trader 😅 good old days
Was online last night with group that used to race the original, had brilliant fun. It's missing some of the tracks at the moment like Spa but hopefully it will return, big smiles from all last night.😁
Seems like my CZcams subscription feed is filled with sponsored videos and the general message is that Grid 2019 is a good game worth buying, but from what I've seen so far I'm not entirely convinced. The game seems a bit... um.. shallow? If I want an arcade-y racing game with sim heritage it seems that Forza Horizon 4 is still the game for me. All the pros you listed for Grid 2019 already applies to FH4 such as: - Fun to play - Easy enough to be approachable - Enough depth to challenge faster players - Requires finesse/precision to be really fast On top of that FH4 has actual car upgrades, deeper tuning options and open livery editing just to mention a few things. I'll keep an eye on Grid and how it's received at launch as well as what the marketing model looks like, but I will not buy it on launch. On the off-chance that someone makes it this far through this comment I do have a question: What's the point system for? You get points for everything such as gear shifting and racing line. Are these points used anywhere? To calculate money and experience gained at the end of the race?
I agree with horizon having one of the best arcadey feels. But i dont get the career mode either and as far as the points system it could be used to unlock livery maybe. Tbh i cant really be arsed to buy any games until next gen and new granturismo is out. Im more than happy watching videos of other people play. But i did hope this game would be good as its easy to play on a controller with a rubbish setup. Shame the career mode will get me bored after 5 races.
I can kinda already tell how the game reacts and handles by watching the gameplay. If I still played on a controller I think i would absolutely love it. But now that I'm on a wheel I tend to look alot more for realism and good handling. I have always loved grid tho.
Yeesh, is this a base PS4? I've actually been really excited for this, but this looks kind of... blurry compared to the gameplay I've seen up until this point. Maybe it's running a dynamic resolution? Can you share your opinion on the visuals at all?
I like racing games that encourage you to drive properly in order to do good. Racing games that try to teach you how utilizing a racing line, braking points, throttle control, proper steering, managing pace etc will make you faster, rather than just hitting the gas pedal as much as possible with no consequences.
On my ps4 it feels like 720P, the intro video are full of pixels, you have to have a very good pc or ps4 pro for the perfect picture, i see other people complain on the same ting on FB
I bought the F1 2018 awhile ago and I was overwhelmed with the information and the things I had to manage it so I could finish my first lap. It's too much stuff. When I saw the first video about this game I thought it was a good idea to bring some of the realism down so us filthy casuals enjoy it more.
Not at all James, it’s the most difficult and in my opinion one of the most technical forms of racing. If you have a lobby of Quick drivers that know how to race cleanly you can have some pretty close and exciting racing. If you suck at driving just stick to a game like Grid or something 🤷🏽♂️ There’s a reason why f1 drivers are the best in the world💰
@@freddytorres5714 I think a lot of people would argue that rally drivers are the best. They truly have lightning fast reflexes and complete control of their vehicle. There's way fewer engineers and technologies to help rally divers; pay drivers don't make it.
Awesome video super gt, also weren’t you scheduled to stream GRID, or did I miss it or not uploaded yet. Anyway I have ultimate edition I enjoy it. A I make me think Forzaish and the handling well is grid and different and I have O assists on sliders, Forza 6 curbs aren’t fun lol and wish I had more feeling because sometimes cars react weirdly and will oversteer or understeer but your brain is like hang on I was gentle why did it do that lol. But it is a fun game. Wish career was structured more story Like and O to hero sorta thing. But it’s more GRID and I enjoy it :)
I wish these guys would drop something more akin to their TOCA race driver games. Loved early Grid games before they went more to arcade style. First game to have mount Panorama back in the day.
But I was talking about different things on the stream. I like the physics and the way it feels, I said that on the stream. This video specifically talks about the physics and not the career mode or the multiplayer or the lack of content.
Reece Jones better than the Crew 2 worse than GT Sport. It’s like a mix of the two actually. It’s fun and forgiving until it sends you flying for being too sloppy on the exit. Turn assists off for best experience.
Are u using a game pad or wheel? N most games feel arcadie from the outside cam view, ur a skilled sim racer so why not use the wheel? If ur not using one, i want that review :)
Those audience barriers....or rather lack thereof. People would be missing arms left and right if they were allowed to get this close to the race cars during the race. XD
I have played few matches the online needs some fix but overall I like it. Its better than the previous versions. Btw last Grid I played was GRID 2. Perfect for casual players. However if you are a hardcore sim fan then you may give it a try.
Getting points for changing gears? Ya I'll pass. That's a sign of where they think fun comes from. GTS is my sim, NFS is my fun, and if I want something in-between I go to driveclub. That will always be my go to racing games.
I'm.experiancing crashes like other streamers had because the game is exclusively dx12 without an option to change to dx11 which is more stable in windows 10 as a whole, however I've been enjoying it overall when I've streamed on twich so I'd give it a 7/10 based on Dx12 issues and the bad career layout (great events bad flow)
Realy like to know, how does the control feels like, more like Grid 2 or Autosport and specially cornering? Do you loose time drifting in corners or not, cause Grid 2 is more fun to control than Autosport ? Like you driving skills and like to know your opinion!
Hello, just a quick question. The cars in the races you have to use are stock? Or can you upgrade them like engine, tires, turbo etc? Many thanks best andi
No upgrades in the game, but most of the cars aren't stock. They're "tuned" to be competitive within the given class. However, you can change the liveries
I played this game in Daytona mode, and a big crash occurred. Cool ! But ... When I watched the replay I understood that it was a script because crash all turned left at the same time for no reason. They simulated the crash. It was looking so stupid.
Code master should make a grid like the for a horizon series. But they won’t because I just found out codemasters is subsidiary of EA which means it would kill need for speed of EA wouldn’t want that
Predrag Jandric what do you mean? Not a lot of rally in this one so hard to compare. Feels like the guys who made dirt went for a more arcade racer and actually succeeded.
Overall thoughts on the way the game feels: Definitely an arcade game but with hints of sim elements sprinkled in.
Good
- Fun to play
- Easy enough to be approachable
- Enough depth to challenge faster players
- Requires finesse/precision to be really fast
Bad
- Collisions can be very annoying and awkward.
- No real connection/feeling to the ground (floaty)
- Can get tricky to maintain control of the car in some situations
- Kerbs are overly dangerous
Thanks, now I don't have to watch the video
Grid autosport experience for me: Ramming. punted in forza 7 X30000 also look out for the Russians they are especially dirty
Not to mention the lack of content that doesn't justify a full price tag.
Floaty feeling in racing games is a 100% no buy for me.
Where are the adjustment for force feedback in this game?
Cars randomly flipping into the air brings back memories of that one kerb at Oran Park in Toca, which used to launch everyone that went over it like a catapult. Nice to see Codemasters have not forgotten their roots.
I feel like racing games made for every type of player never really satisfies anyone.
Yep me included :(
I heard that theres going to be lots of dlc and stuff so im just gonna wait till it all comes out and then get it, hopefully by then i wont be depressed and wishing for death
This sentence took a dark turn real fast...
Yeah, there will be DLC. I just hope it comes out quite quickly. They also need to make changes to the multiplayer, pronto.
Yeah, don't rush it. Still a bit buggy and feels empty outside the race course. Hopefully they add more features to both singleplayer and multiplayer.

Its their newly found laziness.
Nothing has beaten ToCA 3 in my opinion, although I really loved the story behind ToCA 2! Grid was a bit disappointing after those, IMHO!
why do you need a "story" in racing game? should be: select car > select track/series > race
exactly wrong my cro-bro Nikola. That's what all modern racing games have become, Forza is itself just a checklist of 1000 events with no reason to continue other than the grind. Can we remove/hide the points award hud? The "super racing line" to "hyper racing line" to "ultra racing line" stuff annoys me.
Yes, you can. It's really annoying.
I’m not sure that can be called a career mode 😂
To be fair I agree, it's more of a linear grind of events.
Super GT thanks for the review man, it looks like a fun game.
I think that's more than Dirt Rally 2.0 at least. DR2 career mode consists of choosing a car and... that's it.
@@Super_GT a linear GRID of events.

Grid 2019 feels like the original? I’ve watched numerous reviews and it’s the first time I’ve heard that. The vagaries of sponsorship
So I just did a little test, I compared the new GRID to the first one, played both for some time and the conclusion is the following:
New GRID compared to the first one pros:
-Better graphics
-Better sounds
-Rain
-Qualification
-Teammate commands
Cons:
-basically everything
-Worse car physics
-Worse collision physics
-Worse damage model
-Worse mechanical damage
-Worse career mode
-No sense of progression
-No radio comunication during race ( time gaps, accidents etc )
-No random intense races against Ravenwest
-No demolition derby
-No "24 hours" of Le Mans
-Boring presentation
-All cars feel almost the same
-Tracks are boring, with the exception of the ones from the first GRID
-No drift events ( not sure about this )
-No sense of accomplishment
If you were/are a huge fan of the original GRID, avoid this new one like the plague, it doesn't worth your money, not even the time to download a pirated copy.

I bought the F1 2018 awhile ago and I was overwhelmed with the information and the things I had to manage it so I could finish my first lap. It's too much stuff. When I saw the first video about this game I thought it was a good idea to bring some of the realism down so us filthy casuals enjoy it more.
Vitor Cordeiro f1 is not everyone bud🤣 requires actual skill and a lot of focus to be quick
F1 games are only really good for hardcore F1 fans, you know, the nerdy type who like boring races
Not at all James, it’s the most difficult and in my opinion one of the most technical forms of racing. If you have a lobby of Quick drivers that know how to race cleanly you can have some pretty close and exciting racing. If you suck at driving just stick to a game like Grid or something 🤷🏽♂️
There’s a reason why f1 drivers are the best in the world💰
Freddy Torres you mean a custom lobby, if so then yeah but from F1 games I’ve played the multiplayer has always been shit
Looked like fun on your live stream so I bought it.
This is a sponsored video... yeah I can tell it is, because Super GT was way more critical about it on yesterdays non sponsored stream.
But I was talking about different things on the stream. I like the physics and the way it feels, I said that on the stream. This video specifically talks about the physics and not the career mode or the multiplayer or the lack of content.
@@Super_GT I get it, Shadow R! I might get it, but I'll wait until the 3rd or 4th update, after the car handling is fixed... 😁
I want to buy the game but happy to watch you play them. What level are the ai on?
Do you play i racing or is that too serious for the fanbase
The sense I'm getting from this review is that it's arcadey but with some sim elements.
Good luck!
Hey Super GT, if you had to compare the physics of the game to any recent racing games (Gran Turismo, The Crew 2, Forza etc.) which would it be?
Reece Jones better than the Crew 2 worse than GT Sport. It’s like a mix of the two actually. It’s fun and forgiving until it sends you flying for being too sloppy on the exit. Turn assists off for best experience.
First Grid were a really fun crash racing game.
Are u using a game pad or wheel? N most games feel arcadie from the outside cam view, ur a skilled sim racer so why not use the wheel? If ur not using one, i want that review :)
Ignore this comment lol spoke prematurely, sorry!
11:19 3/10 review, did not comment on how the grass feels.
Is this worth buying ? I loved old grids
Getting points for changing gears? Ya I'll pass. That's a sign of where they think fun comes from. GTS is my sim, NFS is my fun, and if I want something in-between I go to driveclub. That will always be my go to racing games.
Is there photo mode?
I couldn't find one!
@@Super_GT That's unfortunate. There's a replay though, right?
@@Super_GT yikes, that's actually a pretty big deal, a photo mode would be an instant buy from me but now I'm not so sure, pretty unfortunate
Lucille Not Lucille NFS Heat has photo mode
I'm.experiancing crashes like other streamers had because the game is exclusively dx12 without an option to change to dx11 which is more stable in windows 10 as a whole, however I've been enjoying it overall when I've streamed on twich so I'd give it a 7/10 based on Dx12 issues and the bad career layout (great events bad flow)
You covered controller and wheel controls, but as a dedicated mouse and keyboard racer, will I enjoy this game?!
Mouse and keybord? Are you in the 90s?
I really want to know if it tuns well on my Samsung Smart Fridge
@@thatsidewaysdud7623 don't forget my Gucci smart toilet
How does it compare to Grid Autosport, aka Demolition Derby Killer AI?
It's more like grid autosport than the original grid imo
Looks like the old ridge racer games
When is the review about your new racing wheel online? :D greetings from the Netherlands
Are drifting and 24h of Le Mans back in this game?
no
Realy like to know, how does the control feels like, more like Grid 2 or Autosport and specially cornering? Do you loose time drifting in corners or not, cause Grid 2 is more fun to control than Autosport ? Like you driving skills and like to know your opinion!
Honestly I’m confuse with feelings if I want the game or not
Is it possible to be fast with mouse and keyboard? Or is it a complete fool's errand?
always possible look at isuckatdriving's channel that chick only drives keyboard and mouse
Butt Bandit thank you very much. What is ment by liveries? BeSt andi
@@andreasbelger2843 livery is like a paint job. So you can give the car stripes, flames, etc and change the colors
This game has the hue/Temp to 200%
Yeah at times it looks really washed out, like it's over-exposed.
It's a good game
Yeah yeah lets get some multiplayer going wit this.
I play wreckfest on the steering wheel lmao
I play it with a direct drive wheel. It'll rip your damn arms off.
Me here actually thinking about googling Google
I did, it shows "Google LLC" as top result.
Can you feel it mr krabs
I played this game in Daytona mode, and a big crash occurred. Cool ! But ... When I watched the replay I understood that it was a script because crash all turned left at the same time for no reason. They simulated the crash. It was looking so stupid.
Hopefully you get an option to remove the hud, those numbers popping up seem even more distracting than the one's on GTS
super gt managed to find a black hole 12.42 lololo
Code master should make a grid like the for a horizon series. But they won’t because I just found out codemasters is subsidiary of EA which means it would kill need for speed of EA wouldn’t want that
Probably a lot of kids are gonna be interested in this game
Good thing they’re busy with COD

0-105 MPH in 00:03:631 s
Fast...
Were you using manual or auto gearing?
Is this going to make iRacing obsolete?
Wow that's surprising considering grid 2 was unplayable on the wheel. Did they really improve that much???
You and jimmy broadbent should battle
What about slipstream? Is there any?
Super GT how would you compare this game to DiRT Rally 2 physics ?
Predrag Jandric what do you mean? Not a lot of rally in this one so hard to compare. Feels like the guys who made dirt went for a more arcade racer and actually succeeded.
