3:00 what a move
I've only recently properly looked into forearm pronation and it made a world a world of difference. While the movement looks "off" from an outside view (i.e. "how can you possible it hit downwards with using your wrist?!"), it feels a lot more natural and allows for significantly more power.
I've noticed a lot of coaches will teach the wrist snapping technique, but I ended up just hurting my wrist with lingering pain for 2 days.
Great video!
An easy way to diagnose if you are breaking at the wrist is, you'll tend to sometimes hit your left leg with the racket when you smash. Of course this is if you are a right hander. Are you experiencing this? 😉👌
yes
how can I avoid hitting
I usually hit onto my knees
@@sammersrivastava5921, do not break your wrist when you smash. rotate instead. Watch the video again where I explained at time 3:30.
Thank you
😁🙏
Thank you sir
Welcome Wolf 😉 nice to hear from you 👍
Great video coach
😁🙏
my coach keep saying that's nothing wrong, using pronation or wrist snapping is up to you, if you train to use wrist snapping it's good without pain like a loot of people said and safe more energy, but pronation feels more natural to me and a lot of top palyer like LCW and praven jordan using arm pronation and the result is so powerful
What if the shuttle’s position is more above our head and less to the side?
If you can't get into a desired positioning for a certain shot, take for example a smash. Play a drop shot instead, wait for the next opportunity. Be patient, forcing to make that smash will usually result in a low quality shot causing more harm on yourself than your opponent. Hey Chi Tung nice to hear from you 😁✌
That's an excellent answer.. I have seen people suggest rolling the wrist into the smash if shuttle directly over the head. I guess it may still work but maybe less power and perhaps even risk of injury if hit too hard. Nice to you on CZcams so often Coach B!
Ps sorry.. I just realised u referred to as breaking the wrist
@@BadmintonB and this so true.. I know a few players who can't smash properly but they keep doing it when they are in terrible position and every time shuttle goes into net.
Hi coach can u suggest best badminton shoes? Im thinking asics court control ff what do you think?
Hi Fat, yes I've already released a video on that. Here's the video link : czcams.com/video/xowPe744Kac/video.html
The shoe recommendation is remedy 2, which starts at time 3:40. There is also an affiliate link for purchase at the description box. Enjoy it 😁👌
Hi, what about badminton workouts...
I'll have those on my Tik Tok account instead. 😁👌
Batminton grip
Thanks for the great video! I have a confusion. As shown in the video, should the thumb be over the index finger at the time of pronation?
Thanks for the compliment Molson, yes that's the most natural way to grip in order to exert full throttle especially when it's a cross court smash. But when it comes to straight smashes, you will use your normal smashing grip to begin with and then switch immediately after impact to finish the follow through of the half pronation execution.
Please take note that all this can be altered by positioning yourself or the extension of your arm at different angles to the on coming shuttle.
It may look simple, but there are actually lots of technical details in this skillset. Without guidance many will tend to fire the bird to the left if he or she is a right hander.
Thank you!

Does pronation also include snapping your wrist? I am pronating but i snap my wrist at the point of impact
Yes provided it's in the same direction as your forearm rotation. By doing that, you will produce a more power concentrated shot. 😊👍
When iam doing pronation iam slicing shuttle cock to either sides and not getting a clean hit. I watched lot of videos and also yours but still not getting it. The grip is tricky
Behind the head the grip before hitting shuttle cock is tricky and also pronation is very very tricky.
During pronation execution of simple forehand clear,
your racket is held 90 degrees to the forearm and it is pointed downward,
when you pronate and keeping your racket at 90 degrees to the forearm,
before hitting the shuttle, does your racket changed to parallel to the forearm by not cocking your wrist anymore?
or you still keep as much as possible 60 to 90 degrees between your racket and the forearm?
which is the proper way of pronating? Thanks
