I have a 100% Oakley prescription frame and lens from 2010 or so with AR treatment- I take those out and the lenses altogether just look like they are very high quality, super clear and clean. When I used them I just remember having full peripheral vision inside the lenses, with no warping. Those came directly from Oakley- perfect on delivery.
I then got a pair Oakley frame eyeglasses with Cryzal lenses from a mall glasses seller (using my flex-spending last minute) after getting a hard sale for them- you could just tell that they were trying to lenses made as fast as possible because the AR coating wasn't perfect like the old Oakley lens. That frame had image warping at the edges of the lens. I'm now using a 2008 pair of Oakley Evade with lens made by DavisVision- the edges weren't polished and there is lots of warping at the outer edges of the lens, and the AR coating has a yellowish tinge- the lenses suck but the glasses are nice for around the house wear.
I'll probably opt for Oakley lenses on my next prescription. Between the quality of the lens finishing and the range of your pupil distance they set the lenses (which is what controls whether the lens image alignment warps or not for your eyes)- they seem to just get it right without a rush.
Fun fact: The anti reflective coating on lenses is an impedance adapter! Allows for maximum transmission of signal from gas to solid medium minimizing bouncing off, like the eardrum and the three little bones in the ear adapt ad amplify the signal for the next liquid stage.
what
Funny fact. LensCrafters and Oakley are the same company. Along with EyeMed , Varilux, Essilor , etc.
I just grabbed a pair of Oakleys with authentic lenses and they are really Essilor ideal advanced lenses with an O lasered on . I love them still.
nice. finally some visiophile content
yup
Luxottica also owns most lens manufacturers as well as most stores that sell their (designer) branded fashion accessories called glasses. The only reall good alternative to lenses made by a Luxottica owned manufacturer are the Zeiss lenses (Carl Zeiss), everything else is basically garbage.
As for washing glasses, as an expert glasses user (30+ years of wearing glasses) I recommend a clear (dye free) odor-free dishwash soap (for handwashing dishes) rinsed with lukewarm water and dried off with a good microfiber cloth.
Alright
yeah "clear" is great but I just love the "creaminess" and "texture" my dirty 4 year old target lenses give to my vision experience, having perfect clear lenses is too fatiguing for me 😅😅
k
Going to try some thanks

usually glasses have a UV filter applied. that usually gets either worn off or scratched off, so gotta be careful with that. super important to have that coating though as it could make using a computer or going outside a lot less painful for your eyes. my transitionals/photochromic will get dark when UV is high in sunlight to prevent my eyes from being worn down quickly, since I have blue eyes it can be painful for me to go outside in the bright sunlight before my eyes can go through Miosis
UV or glare filter I mean. usually both.
k
Yes, the FR graphs are super sharp!
yup
what makes you choose specifically for that kind of frame? its pitchman r carbon. same like mine. i was considering getting a replacement temple (black color) cause i wasnt too confident of the looks. but seeing that youre using it now, it definitely looks good on you
i changed the temples. see my more recent videos
I love me some Oakley. I tried other big brands but Oakley never did me wrong 👍🏻
Fun fact glasses are pretty much one company one owns all makes all just re name a monopoly for classes why also expensive lol
@@xxdropdeadxx6679 I know it. It comes down to the style and technology for me. I tried rayban frames but Oakley always is my go to. For example , rayban nose pads slide down my nose but oakleys will stay on all day. Comes down to personal preference .
@@Anthony-zw1qb i loved the ray bans i had but it got ran over at work looking at some Oakley but worried about breakage n peeling see mix reviews that their quality going down hill
Those Oakley's look sharp, Shar!

VERY interesting video, I use oakley and it was a $300 set of frames very expensive, nice comprehensive video. Instead of the most handsome audioman I'd say you are the most handsome interesting man.
thanks
Who makes the prescription lens for the Oakleys? Oakley or one's local optometrist? In other words, you pick the frames, how do you get the prescription lens?
I can't talk about their prescriptions, because I don't use prescriptions... But their polarized sunglasses are really good for sports like sailing, really happy with my pair.
nice
@@Sharur1 Yeah, they are expensive, but they are so worth it.
Thats where going to an optometrist office that carries the brand you like and try on glasses.
I got the highest end transitional glasses with polycarb for $100 at zenni. the lenses alone would cost double at any major glasses maker.
the glasses i had before were pretty crappy. made by raybans and after 2 years the clear plastic had hairline cracks all over it and they felt super lightweight and cheap. these new ones have an adjustable nose bridge and a tighter fit that works a lot better for me.
will def be getting zenni glasses from now on
Polycarbonate has too low of an abbe value
@@Sharur1 I am wondering how much of it is just marketing wank
these $100 lenses have been the best glasses i've ever had. even going to a local optometrist and getting real glass lens custom made.
It's not. Compare your polycarbonate lens to glass of the same power and you will notice the difference in optical clarity. Plutonite is said to rival glass in optical clarity, but even just comparing standard polycarbonate vs plutonite myself, I can read text with my Oakley lenses that are too blurry with my normal polycarbonate lenses.
@@Sharur1 okay looking it up, I got 1.67 High index lenses made by Mitsui Chemicals in japan.
it should be comparable to your glasses, no?
also I do apologize for saying polycarb when it's proprietary lens tech.
to me it seems like it's just marketing wank for high refractive index lenses.
oakley and RED cameras were founded by the same guy and they love using marketing wank to describe extremely pedestrian products or ideas, most of the time done poorly.
Clears ones fits your eyes better . When you choose a frame you have to think eyes like its a painting, eyes should be in center.
nice
i recommend lasik so you can get a proper seal with headphones
don't wear over ears
Did you get the Pitchman's directly from Oakley or through Lenscrafters?
lenscrafters
I think they are good glasses, but unfortunately there are not many of this brand in Iran. In some sites such as Aynak bluebyby But I did not find it
Do Oakley eyeglasses really grip to your head and stay in place despite having library temples?
no, unfortunately
My prescription is like -0.5 and -0.25. So it's very minor and I only wear them for high fidelity 4k hdr movie watching in my home theater. I think it's considered 20 20 vision.
Is getting lasik worth it even if the prescription is so low?
Is it worth changing you eyes structure permanently for a slight disadvantage in vision? Ask that yourself.
lasik isn't guaranteed to get you better than 20/20. Usually people with really bad vision are happiest coming out of lasik.
no at that vision, even at the low-ish rates of complication for lasik i wouldn't even think of risking it. I barely wear my glasses at -1.0.
-1 dioptres not bad. I'm at -7 dioptres T T. The main problem for me is fit cuz being east asian means typically lower nose bridges, and many of the frames aren't meant for low nose bridges. Glasses always be sliding down my nose. Glad them frames look like they fit you.
Edit: Never knew typical polycarbonate lenses actually blurry. Interesting. Also about your reasoning for not wearing glasses when filming your videos, there are anti reflection coatings for lenses, but you often gotta pay more for. Also for lasik, I'd rather have glasses and have myopia ground me to reality to keep reminding me that myopia can get worse, because myopia causes elongation of the eyball, and if your retina snaps, you're permanently blind. Also, may I ask when you first got diagnosed with myopia, because typically only children are diagnosed with it.
I was first "diagnosed" when I was 12 or 13 because I couldn't see as clearly through my right eye as my left even though my right was still 20/20. I wanted 20/10 vision.
@@Sharur1 Wow, and you're at only -1 dioptres? That's good your myopia doesn't progress quickly. Has it stopped progressing for you by now or do you feel it's still going, because typically it should stop around 18. Like I said previously I'm already at high myopia and I'm 18, so hopefully it stopped.
It's not changed in at least 5 years
@@Sharur1 You're pretty lucky man. Astigmatism came out of left field at 18, and looking at stripes or thin lines would give me a headache without glasses. The last thing you want is your ears and eyes going to sh!t
PRK might be a better option than lasik as the flap can come off. In PRK the part above the area the laser operates on is dissolved and when it grows back it is better attached than the flap in lasik surgery.
I have 20/20 vision so no glasses. But I like RAY-BAN for sunglasses.
Get lasik it’s worth it
I had 20/20 when I first got lenses because I wanted 20/10. 20/20 is not very good.
What size did you go for please?

ok let's wait 1 more year so we can have the moondrop variation of glasses

good
i got hearing dmg from that oakley clip

did u try equing your glasses 😂

But plastic is useless anyways gets scratched glass is much better for lenses
Try KZ EDX Ultra if it doesn't sound good use Variations EQ might sound acceptable and better than any Khan Quarks DSP or Ding dong
plastic is lighter
@@Sharur1 it's absolutely not two glass lenses will weight 5 gram only which is not heavy compared to plastic

@@AlexB-dl5ou so explain why at a distance where discord messages are too blurry to read on my old glasses, they are crystal clear on the oakley's
@@Sharur1 plastic structure breaking down over time, probably tons o mico abrasions you can't see but blur the image since it's plastic
@@AlexB-dl5ou Do you not realize that standard polycarbonate has the lowest abbe value out of all common lens material? The human eye is stated to have an ABBE value of 40-50 and that you cannot distinguish between ABBE values somewhere above that range. Standard polycarbonate has an abbe value of 30. Just like with IEMs, there are measurable factors outside of lens power that determine optical clarity :)
