TMC Flatbed Strap Load Fail

  • This is not typical of TMC. TMC drivers seem to be pretty cool drivers and drive safe. This is just a situation that happens to everyone at one time or another. In transit a strap or two might work itself loose. That big piece he has with the real loose strap still has three holding it down but the problem is the DOT. Safety wise I'd say his load looks OK but the coppers and DOT just LOVE to see this. It gives them an excuse to pull you over. Then they rake you over the coals while they go on a fishing expedition to try and find more on you.
BTW I tried to let him know but he must not have had his radio on.
Bottom line is and the main reason I uploaded this: DON'T FEED THE BEARS!

I pulled flatbed for 5 years. don't be afraid to use a little bit of torque when tightening the straps. I used to haul drywall and I've caught hell from a few customers about some of the top pieces being cracked because of "over tightening". I've always told them a few cracked boards are a hell of a lot easier to explain than the entire load falling all over the highway

As long as you pay to replace what broke there's no problem.

you holler at him on the cb? probably had no idea it was flapping loose. I know it's his responsibility to secure that load but boy that would suck if it came off

straps on that are fine. but you never straighten the strap out. always put 1 twist in a long straight strap. It won't catch the wind and flap in the breeze that way and it will keep the strap from working loose. any old school trucker can tell you that if he knows anything

    Mine is still working perfectly!

Yeah it's a re-upload. I got sick of the copyright warnings so I replaced the music. Mine quit working awhile back but I think it's because I had it on nonstop all day and night in the truck. Either that or my elec system fried it. I wish I had it back, I still think it was the best camera I've had so far.

  • @ldg332004

It looks like 2 different people were tying things down cause the front two pieces looked good with the straps ran behind the bumper rail, but the rear 2 pieces of the load are both tied directly to the bumper rail. Isn't that illegal? I was told it was.

It looks like he missed that strap with the bar. He probably tightened it down by hand, and then got distracted when he was walking around tightening everything all the way down and missed it.

if the man sees it ,could be a big ticket , all he has to do is make one wrong turn and the pallet will slide off the truck

I think its wrong to record other drivers mistake and post them on youtube as in trucking there are a million things that can go wrong and no one is perfect. Dont be surprised if you find yourself on social media for a f up. But then again, this guy may he a former and jaded TMC driver out to grind an axe.
