Damn.. this inventor is so great, he not only lost his thumb doing what he loves, but also had the skill to create a new one for himself. Now that's dedication, right there.
I don't think this thing is for him. In some shots you can see both of his hands and both of them have thumbs
The guy making it clearly has both thumbs. I wouldn't want metal though. Seems clunky and can turn green after awhile but I guess this is the cheap way of doing it instead of getting a real prosthetic.

I also thought this was strange, just cause something is made of shinny metal doesn't make it jewelry. The primary function of jewelry is for it to look good, it's a cosmetic object and not a functional one.

To be fair, I was in the middle of a talk about the Paralympics and forgot the word prosthetic so I ended up saying “not real leg”. 3 whole minutes later I remembered the actual word.
This is so incredible. It shows your inclusivity is important. Someone’s an intellectual disability loves these type of things. I have fingers, but imagine not having one and now being able to wearing a ring that’s a big deal.

Awesome my mo. Lost her tip of her right hand in a warehouse machinery that malfunction. She got paid, but I say it wasn't enough. I wasn't there when it happened. Now she's 70 and she is very active for her age. It doesn't stop her. She lived with this now about 25 yrs. She is a strong lady. This is so ingenious for whoever its for. Not having a thumb is hard. People would understand more if they didn't have one or part of a finger. God bless.

The engineering is amazing! A simple rod and cam mechanism that makes the end of the prosthetic thumb bend inwards when the base of the thumb moves! Iron man!

Oh wow I would love to have someone like you in my life, I had my thumb amputated in Feb because of a disability I have and have tried all sorts of contraptions to help me live somewhat of a normal life but to no avail. Your thumb looks amazing 😻

@Logan because your touch screen uses the electricity in your body to tell when a touch occurs. That's also how the pens work because it's metal on the sides so you conduct through the pen to the screen

@@bendyinkdemon3094 I think there is only one kind of brass, but it makes sense..since metal warms up and the body is warm. Might be an issue if it gets really cold outside, I'm sure he'll find a solution..and brass doesn't rust like other metals, easier to maintain.

@@vegastrina no you can use any type of brass or metal and it doesn't really matter the temperature, phones don't work on body temperature. Pretty sure has to do with electrical conductivity.

I have the same injury but not with my dominate hand, I’m nearing a year to the day of the accident and although something like this isn’t practical to me it’s awesome seeing a functional art piece that helps someone. Keep up the good work

Honestly this was a really well thought out prosthetic, you even accounted for bio-electricity through the metal for phone touchscreen.
And it works so well, hopefully its working as a nice everyday solution for ya, hell put a glove on and you might even forget its a prosthetic entirely.

"Ornament" is something that creates adornment "to make more beautiful". This is a functional limb which is defined as Prostheses "an artificial device to replace or augment a missing or impaired part of the body". A Prostheses can be ornamental, but an ornament can not be a Prostheses.
