BioShock is such a big part of me being a gamer and Judas is one of my most anticipated games and I'm loving the direction so far everything seems so insane both trailer are sick, I'm so happy that we got some news after a year of silence
@@dzzzzztBioShock 1 and infinite are both fps but only one is an immersive sim. Immersive sims offer different ways to approach a specific situation in a game where straight forward fps (like infinite) offer just one. It's a whole different and fascinating approach to gaming, I suggest you to do some research and play probably one of the most underrated games of all time and best immersive sim games of the last decade "Prey" by Arkane Austin
@@Sarc0n Oh, I know what you mean, thanks for the explanation! I knew this type of gameplay as "emergent gameplay" and this term "immersive sim" just sounds so vague and vacuous. One of the first such games goes way back though, long before BioShock ;) Thief: The Dark Project. It's the definiton of this type of gameplay. Then comes to mind System Shock. More recent games are Dishonored. Curiously Ken Levine has worked both on Thief and System Shock 2.
@@dzzzzzt yeah you are totally right and probably know more than I do hahaha, seems like you are a veteran of the genre, also I really like the "emergent gameplay" etiquette never thought about it
Guys, I think you nailed the set-up right on the head. i also love the "thumbs up" balloon. Please, take the time and the budget you need to make this game as best as it can be, without crunch, but also compromises. When I was a kid, your games opened my eyes that entertainment could actually be more than simply shutting off your brain. I am waiting patiently.
And I thought the context might become clearer after a second trailer… lol but on a serious note it looks incredible and I cannot wait to see what Ken and the team have written for us this time. Bioshock is my favorite series and I couldn’t be more excited to see the narrative and world Judas brings us!
I've been waiting for this for over a year, ever since the Game Awards trailer. This looks damn good, can't wait to see what crazy stuff Ken and the team have cooked up
So far it looks like Bioshock infinite without any of the themes or iconic elements that made the game one of my all time favorites. Atomic Heart was similar to how I feel about Judas, but that game felt hollow. I really hope in the coming months we get info about the lore and the innovative elements that Ken Levine is known for. Since a lot has happened since Infinite, with shake ups and delays and I’m sure world events, I anticipate that Judas won’t be as bold as Levine’s other games. I hope I’m wrong, though. I hope at the very least, Judas is a solid foundation Ghost Story needs. Idk if Judas is supposed to be a whole new IP or just its own thing, but I really just hope that the time it’s taken to make it pays off.

That's why we're expecting it. The main thing is that there is something else new and less similar in gameplay to bioshock infinite - which was a great bioshock, but the gameplay was significantly stripped down and simplified compared to immersive sims.
I like that you guys have shown very little of this game so people don't get too high expectations like Infinite (which I still loved even while waiting three years for it). Can't wait to see more! Love your work Ken & co!
Here are some things that stuck out to me and some theories I have. It's just me having fun so enjoy it or whatever. Society with 3 idols (Officer, Merchant?, and pink-haired lady) as evidenced by one shirt in meme font supporting the "big 3." Also another shirt with meme font saying "I shamed Judas" that the characters presumably got when Judas is hung above the stage in a later scene. Other meme shirts say "100% unique, Love the Mission, Eat the Cookie, and Follow Orders." Who knows how the big 3 got to the top but they seem to be some sort of influencers. This society could be similar to the Black Mirror episode "Nosedive" or China's social credit system. The idea of everything being recorded is an interesting concept because who doesn't love a totalitarian surveillance state. I wonder if the player will be able to "rewind" their choices or if this game is a time-loop game based on the ship (labeled Mayflower) being "broken" and potentially exploding at the end of each cycle. This could also fit with Levine's Narrative legos concept and his love for systemic games. There is also a short snippet where it looks like Judas is respawning by being 3D printed. One interesting piece of advertising in the trailer shows a creepy guy and a woman in fear. It is titled "Long Hugger." I wonder if there is some stigma or limit on human touch or intimacy in this state? Makes sense with the potential para-social themes. Could also be inspired by covid and social distancing. It looks like VR is a thing in this world and that may be how they connect para-socially. In Judas' short flashes between periods, it appears at one point, the story takes place in June 1979. Now I looked at historical events that may have happened because I'm a nerd and the only one I could find having to potentially do with science fiction is "the source", an early version of the internet that launched around that time. Also keep in mind the soviet union was going strong at this time. At one point, an asteroid comes down and Judas appears to be piloting some sort of vehicle. I am unsure which city we are looking at in this scene but it sure ain't earth due to the two moons present. When it comes to enemies, they have a childlike quality to them and I am interested in finding out who created them and why they look like that (you know there will be some deep lore surrounding the psychology of why things look so toylike). I wonder if pink haired woman designed them because she was seen riding a sentry turret in the last trailer. It seems the pink hair lady's character model changed since last trailer or this could be before she gets messed up and reveals her robotic skeleton.
You could have told me that this is a new Bioshock, and I would have totally believed it. Perhaps the team behind it deliberately chose to do so, or the Bioshock essence became deeply ingrained in them. Either way, it looks awesome!!
Ever since the announcement trailer, it's been fairly obvious the themes this game will be tackling. Marxism (or some form of it), Gen-Zs obsession with being unique to the point of unwittingly becoming the newest member of their cult, the idea that love and starting a family is toxic etc. It appears the pendulum is starting to swing back the other way, and I'm fucking stoked if that's the case.
@@Iobsterpeterson- No? From what’s been shown and described in interviews, it seems to be a take on religion and police states (the description literally describes how people are encouraged to relentlessly spy on one another).
@@iris_ofthestorm4260 Says "No?" with complete certainty, but then follows that up with an uncertain "it seems." There may be themes of religion, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong. One could argue that Leftism has become a kind of religion in itself. The description also mentions people being trained to tear others apart at the slightest offense, which is very much how the radical left acts. Perhaps the game is tackling both sides.
@@Iobsterpeterson People have been purity-checking and enforcing morals for all of recorded history. Assigning a slant to it before we see the game is just confirmation bias.
I think Levine is great but I'm somewhat shocked (no pun intended ;) ) by this trailer. I mean, he goes away for a decade or so to work on a project that I have heard has been built, torn down and then almost rebuilt from scratch several times because he's a perfectionist who is trying create something truly original only to discover that the culmination of all these iterations is...Bioshock in space. So we've now had two System Shock's in space, two Bioshock's in the deep sea, one Bioshock in the sky and now we kind of have another 'JudasShock' set in space again? I know he wasn't in charge of all those but still. Unless there's some kind of special and original core mechanic to the game's structure like the one Deathloop attempted (that I wasn't even that keen on) then I'm not sure why it took so long to settle on this. As for the gameplay, I hope it has moved on from Infinite which I found slightly disappointing. There was no real variety in the mechanics. Most of the powers did the same thing but in different flavours and there were no real System Shock 2 skills and rpg mechanics. As for gunplay, Bioshock 2 has the combat I enjoyed the most. More variety in how combat played out, especially those moments where you had to prepare defences for the onslaughts. Still, I wish the project all the best!
With AI taking over everything in our lives, once again Ken and the team have come out with something that's way ahead of its time. I am so excited for this one.

Love Ken's mind and his vision for games. I hope he can stay healthy and remain fulfilled throughout the process.

It reminded me of George Orwell's 1984, with Bioshock-style gameplay, this game promises a lot. 👏
