Originally constructed in 1914, Tokyo Station is one of the largest train stations in Japan, used by many people everyday. As a transit hub with a dense network of local and bullet train lines, most travelers would pass through at least once during their stay in eastern Japan. Additionally, the station is also the zero mile marker for many train lines.
With its multiple levels and labyrinth of shopping and dining streets, Tokyo Station can be quite confusing to travelers. However, it is a great place to spend a day and to make things easier, we have compiled a list of 7 things to know about Tokyo Station.

I lost my ipad on the bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo. On my find my phone app, I knew it was still at the Tokyo train station. I learned from our trip coordinator (she didn’t know it before I asked for help) that there are two Lost & Found offices there. One is for random stuff and the other was, drum roll, A LOST & FOUND FOR DIGITAL DEVICES!!!!! I got my ipad back the next day. After several questions from the clerk there, she presented to me my ipad. I wept. Only in Japan.

I can spend a whole week in Tokyo station without a need of going out (as long as wallet is fat enough), so many choices of good restaurants and stores in underground level.

Thank you guys for continuing to put out great content during the virus pandemic. My family and I cancelled our plans to visit in September after the Olympics had concluded, but we're already working on plans to visit Japan next year (apparently after those Olympics have concluded :P). Thanks for the many helpful tips and suggestions!
Hope you'll have a great trip to Japan!
Got lost there. Overwhelmed by the number of people. Wish I explored it more
Great video and interesting facts. Didn't know there was a hotel in the actual station building. However: keep your eye on the direction signs and don't get lost in the undergrounds of Tokyo Station 😅
Been there many times. Hope to go there again someday.
WONDERFULLY educational with stunning visuals of the objects rather than the CZcamsr!
Even if I was born and raised in Tokyo, I often get lost at this station lol
Rindu.....rindu jepang..apalagi begitu liat Tokyo Station....argh....makin rindu....so...beautiful🥰
The main entry has a site where one of the Japanese PM was stabbed to death long long time back. The visit to this station is absolutely essential to know the extent of the non fare revenue generated. Overall a marvelous place. My videos have a few on the Tokyo station too.
Great vid.

¡ Muchas gracias!
Oh my god i misssssss tsuchiura ibaraki tsukuba arakawa etc......love you

Thank you for this video. A good place to get lost ;)
If possible can you please tell me what "Shin" as in Shin Marunouchi Shin Sapporo etc etc mean?
A few years ago i was doing a job in Hakodate and traveled from there back to Sapporo to get a flight back to Aust.
Of course I got of the train at Sapporo and not Shin Sapporo where the airport is :(
shin=新=new
But
shin + place name ==> another ~
for example, Shin Yokohama is another station not Yokohama.
@@patocar55 Many thanks for that :)
What a nifty little video. Tokyo station looks like a 'must visit' place to me. I would imagine that the hotel, which looks amazing, might be just a tad out of reach for my budget. But one can still dream.
Aww the joy of going up and down the stairs not again 🙄

Insider tip: Just avoid the 7 stories of clusterfuck that is Tokyo Station and use Shin-Yokohama or Shinagawa instead.
The female narrator enunciates certain words with an English colonial accent e.g. bars/spas/airport/porter (5:00 Tokyo Station Hotel) which sounds discordant with her overall accent. Possibly a mix of Singaporean and American teachers?
