The 718 GTS 4.0 with its N/A GT4 engine has taken the 718 to truly special. After owning 5 911’s, incl. 997 Turbo S, the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 is my favourite Porsche drivers sports car - period - size, power, feel, sublime handling & rotation with an analogue interior. End of an era. Joyful.

Good to see your comment coming from 911 ownership. Sometimes I wonder if I should have stepped up to a 992 instead of my BGTS 4.0. The Boxster is just so fun to drive.

@@tobi_dg If you need to scratch the 911 itch you really must, or need a grand tourer or 4 seats. But the 992 and 718 GTS 4.0 are now different solutions to two different questions. I came up through 993’s, 997’s and find the 992 too big for UK B roads aware of its girth, not chuckable, way too fast to wring out, false sound and too much unnecessary fashion tech i want or need. Personally i think they lost it with this 911. Not saying it’s not a brilliant car for the right person. But they feel like cars for a wider audience, a jack of all trades, for people coming from BMW’s and Audi’s. The motorsport GT3’s are a totally different thing, hard core Porsche, and truly great cars but hopeless for day to day/road cars, especially in winter but the only way to get a N/A flat 6 engine that sounds and performs amazing. Lots of 911 choice out there. Advice…drive as many as you can to find your thing. For a second opinion watch Harry’s Garage on the Boxster GTS 4.0 where he states it’s one of the greatest Porsche’s ever, including 911’s.

@@neilgaydon5430-Yes indeed , the GTS 4.0 Boxster is the one to buy. You’ll have to spend over $100,000 US, about $120,000 or more for a nice GTS Boxster in the USA. I drive a Miata GTRF which cost $35,000. I wanted a fun roadster like the old MG. The MX-5 Miata Is truly thrilling to drive.

The biggest change to the Boxster was the 981 which introduced this architecture in late 2012, and was designed from the outset with 4 cylinder motors in mind. It replaced the 986/987 which were versions of the same chassis. The 718 is a facelift of the 981, which is why it looks so similar.
BTW, The particular 914 you picture does not have a 4 cylinder engine - it has a flat 8. 2 were built, this one being Piech's.

Like others also noticed, this video is 6 days old, but talks about options from years ago. One is the fuel tank size, for 1 maybe 2 years there has been no option on the car configuration to choose a fuel tank size. But, I will will say having just gotten a 718 GTS 3 months ago, that this video is otherwise informative to a potential 718 buyer. He does touch on some of the options, but not all, and who can since there are tons of options available and you can’t describe them all on one video unless it’s just about “options”. Good video otherwise and well done.

…the NA versions are great cars & so are the turbo variants for many different reasons. Personally l couldn’t go back to an NA car after 5 years in one of these. It’s hard to put my finger on it but lm sure it has something to do with how it’s just such a well rounded car with this motor. It’s torque numbers particular when tuned is crazy really, but something that becomes very addictive in a way how the NA guys love their howl. These pull you out of corners on your weekend canyon runs faster than a gt3 and pulls that hard all the way to its 7 plus red line. Crazy performance for a car this size buy just the right amount imho. An s with pdk and Chrono is more than enough for most of us. An inexpensive tune bumps everything up 20-30% & the engine and drivetrain have zero problems coping with the extra numbers.

28:48 2016 car and 2016 information. Many inaccuracies for a 2024 purchase. Actually inaccurate from 2019 onwards. 4 point LEDs are not standard, entry lights are bixenon with just 2 LEDs. Parking sensors standards all round on all models as is the PCM with Nav and DAB radio with blue tooth for phone and wired car play. One wonders at what point this was recorded as it is way out of date even when compared with 2022 model year cars. Finally.. Lava orange? Really, I need to check my TV colour settings because this has to be Guards Red all day long

Question is what’s not to like? Simple answer- Price Price Price! With minimal options you’re paying at least $80-$100k. Ignore the base entry price because you’ll never find one at that price and you can’t order one without several options. I find the Miata is the only new affordable small light fun roadster. A Boxster new, is very expensive and not more fun than a Miata. No question I like the Boxster but it’s too much money for me and most people. The Mustang convertible is another option but much larger and heavier. There nothing else out there right now that’s a fun light and nimble. New GT RF Miata is about $35k! A new base Boxster without fancy options is about $75k. Is it worth it? I guess if you’ve got the money it might be but I’m not so sure.

You are speaking to the USA market, this video is for the UK market and they are not at all alike. I'm the UK we don't pay ADM and we can order a base car with zero or very few options. When I started looking there were many used 718 Base with 16 inch alloys, free colour and manual gearbox, no PASM and no PDK. Few of the cars I viewed had full leather. Being a member of 718 Forum I know that in USA people check every option box because of FOMO.

You are a troll who disagrees with millions of car enthusiasts and car journalists including Consumer Reports that absolutely LOVE THE MIATA. Many Porsche owners trade in their old Caymans and Boxsters, after the factory warranties expired to buy a Miata for a fun roadster that was way more affordable. Anyway keep your Cayman and I’ll keep my Miata. A Cayman is “crap” to a Ferrari owner. A Camry is probably “crap” to a BMW owner.

A Mazda Miata is not crap. I owned one, it was fun. However, the two vehicles are not comparable. I traded in my Miata for a used S 2000 in 2017 and it was a far better car. I had an opportunity in 2020 to get a very lightly used 718 Boxster well equipped. The Boxster is light years ahead of the Mazda. Again, an MX-5 is not a bad car. It’s just not comparable to a Boxster.
