  • With the stressors of coronavirus causing a lot of anxiety, my sister suggested I do a video to help people learn how to be calm in the storm. Learn the basic tricks to calm your physical and mental reactions so that you won't be at the mercy of the current stressors.
"How to stop worrying and start living" by Dale Carnegie is a great book to start with. Other suggestions include "Be Here Now" and "Buddhism Plain and Simple" . Eastern philosophies are excellent at teaching mindful awareness and mental discipline.
Do slow breathing in through your nose, out through your mouth during your day. Practice being fully aware of your breathing. This may be done anytime you are on "autopilot" - in the shower, driving, walking, etc.

My biggest stress relief: Retired on April 4, 2020.
I've lost 23 pounds as of August 2, 2020. Still losing, about 10 more to go.
Commuting and sedentary jobs make it extremely hard to lose weight.
But there's no excuse for able-bodied retirees. Fitness is my new full time job.

I have been practicing deep breathing and mindfulness (in the moment) for awhile. Both strategies have been really helpful in reducing some destructive habits that have occurred when my son died.

In 1918 there was no AC, running water etc. Very helpful! I use these techniques, but need to be more mindful. My favorite quote from my favorite president, Lincoln, "Most people are as happy as they make up their minds to be"

So good to see you again! Please keep posting. Your analogy of walking with your dog, being present in the moment & your diagram was REALLY good! Thank you & hope to see you again very soon. Btw, does naloxone help with food cravings?

You may want to see your primary care provider for some extra help. Practice the breathing exercise.

Question: I work in a convalescent psych ward. It's very smelly and with terrible noises. I sit there with patients who have to be watched 24/7. I often get anxious because I wear a face shield and mask and feel like I need to move around or can't breathe. I love breathing exercises but not around them or in that place. I am surrounded by terrible sights. There is no beauty there. What else can I do?

I would LOVE a video for PCOS weight loss! Im 40 now and I just can NOT get it to go away unless I eat nothing and completely eliminate ALL carbs and ALL sugar. Thats not realistic so even when I do lose weight it comes right back. I know I am on track for t2 Diabetes and already predisposed with PCOS. I can't eat nothing forever. Thinking about Contrave as I also have depression/anxiety and have taken Bupioron (sp) in the past and I am sure Cortisol isn't helping any of this. 🤦‍♀️ Miserable.

PCOS doesn’t cause obesity. Start Wellbutrin & phentermine, count calories & be honest with every morsel. Increase exercise, even if it’s only walking. Get a basic Fitbit to count steps. You CAN do this! XX 😘

@@josie3674 Are you a doctor? Sure hope not. Insulin resistance PCOS DOES cause a myriad of weight issues including extreme cortisol levels and testosterone levels out of balance. No offense but I do not think you have read enough on this VERY complex topic. Women with PCOS also usually struggle with depression and
