Not Islamic sources honestly, except a mention of this in the "Stories of the prophets" by Ibn Kathir. There are Christian sources which mention beheading of Yahya (as).
I did some more research though and came across an interesting argument that since Allah says in the Quran in Chapter 19 verse 15 about Yahya (as): "Peace on him the day he was born, the day he died, and the day he will be raised back to life" this implies that he was likely not beheaded. In fact, the claim was that all prophets mentioned (by name?) in the Quran were saved from their enemies. This is quite a revelation! But then Quran also definitely refers to slaying of prophets in some passages, without explicitly naming them though.

​​@@am1124iI dunno if this is relevant to this discussion but I heard somewhere the mosque near Syria mentioned in the end times the second coming of jesus or isa a.s . That mosque if I remember correctly some stated the mosque is in a blessed area cause the area is buried the head of Yahya a.s or John the Baptist in the bible. Maybe you can find more of this cause I don't remember where I heard it.
