Very nice, Ive always loved Buffy Sainte-Marie and her version but I'll now be adding this version in my listening rotation as well moving forward.

The lyrics were actually written by that Canadian guy called Leonard Cohen, you might have heard of him. Set to music by some lady called Buffy Sainte-Marie. :)

I love him but man his music gets intense.
We already knew Chris is one of the finest musicians ever but it's still wonderful to be thrilled when he enters new territory. The subject matter may not be the most accessible but this is one amazing performance. There are very few people who can sing AND play with such power and maturity of vision. I think maybe Hendrix would be in a similar class and maybe Joni Mitchell but in a different way and certainly Paul Brady in pieces like Arthur McBride. But it's an elite group...

While I prefer the recording on the album, this cover is simply amazing. Especially when Chris gets into those... downward movements, I have no idea how to explain it... around 4:10. You can feel and hear the magic that he's singing about coursing through the land. The song is almost too alive for him to express, like some other force has taken over.
