The Hidden Card of World War I: The Birth of the Tank

In 1914, during World War I, the Western Front between France and the German Empire was mired in the infamous trench warfare. Both sides dug extensive trenches along the front, facing each other with machine guns and field artillery. The area between the trenches was known as "No Man's Land," an uninhabitable zone due to the constant danger.
To break this stalemate of trench warfare, the Allies secretly developed a new weapon. This project, codenamed "TANK," is what we now commonly know as the tank. Key elements of the tank included continuous tracks for traversing mud and trenches, armored plates to withstand machine-gun fire, and powerful firepower to break through enemy positions.
This exhibition will explore the history of tanks from the first MK series to today's most powerful tank, the Abrams.
