I noticed the audience became more animated when Sexxy Redd was on stage, but Victoria Monet's fantastic performance of 'On My Mama' and 'Alright' didn't get a full standing ovation. I saw Prince and Michael Jackson go head to head in real-time, nothing will ever compare to that. Like you said, no artist development. I can't wait for the Olympics!!! I love gymnastics, swimming and track but I also LOVE table tennis, speed walking and the decathlon sports. 😊

I miss the BET days when Robert Johnson was owner and had shows like Video Soul with Donnie Simpson; Teen Summit; Tavis Smiley; Ed Gordon etc. 80s, 90s and maybe early 2000s had the best music on BET. Today's music industry heads have all but eliminated R&B/Soul music. What talented and diverse singers/musicians we had in the 60s-90s! Very few in todays music have the talent we grew up with. If you look at old videos or television performances, the women were mostly fully clothed or respectfully dressed.

It’s not the same I loved the old school Bet Awards
I am with you on today’s “talent “, if that’s what people call it. I don’t waste my time watching these award shows because most of the time I don’t even know who they are or what their current musical contribution is.
We HAVE heard from winners and some other contestants on American Idol!!! There's quite a few that we still hear about! Also I learned years ago that it's best not to win on American Idol because you won't have to be stuck with their contracts and you will have to sing what they tell you to sing.
I watched the BET Awards, and my personal complaint was why all the female "rappers" dressed the same. I asked my husband since when ever did All the female rappers dress and perform the same shit?! Not one of them have their own personality. One after the other same outfit...different design but literally the same booty shorts. And let's not talk about their signature dance move! That was very depressing to watch. Look, I thought my tv was acting up when Usher was speaking.
I haven't watched the B E T AWARDS in years! It's disgraceful!

It’s a different business because we/ they keep spending money on the mess. This is the Music BUSINESS, if we /they stop buying the mess, it will go away. They didn’t buy Jennifer Hudson’s music. They didn’t buy Fantasia’s music. There are “real” talented people out there, young and older. If we/they spend money on them the music industry will shift.

You know for me thier is not much great talented singers that comes on award shows anymore...I got spoiled back in the goods days of talented singers that performed brilliantly, and looked respectful on stage so once again no surprise on how the show turn out.

I miss the BET days when Robert Johnson was owner and had shows like Video Soul with Donnie Simpson; Teen Summit; Tavis Smiley; Ed Gordon etc. 80s, 90s and maybe early 2000s had the best music on BET. Today's music industry heads have all but eliminated R&B/Soul music. What talented and diverse singers/musicians we had in the 60s-90s! Very few in todays music have the talent we grew up with. If you look at old videos or television performances, the women were mostly fully clothed or respectfully dressed.

It is good seeing that Jamie Foxx is improving with his health. He had a great medical facility and a good team of drs. Paula Abdul was always that pretty girl. Eventually, aging catches up to us all. Sad, people have to pay so much to stay youthful looking. Love of self instead of image or industry standards is so important. Growing older with style and grace is my goal. I'm glad I have seen my mom, other women in my family, and others who embraced aging with grace. I always loved Shanice beautiful voice and gorgeous smile. Didn't know her mom was a singer. I see it runs in the family. I love the Track and Field events at the Olympics.
