Shen and Bing are explaining the essence of this song is that everybody should exercise their own independent thought and not join others who abuse and insult others in social media. Cyberbullying is ra pant and the reckless critics and abuse on Internet cause the victims misery and severe hurt. It's implied but not stated outright (because it wouldn't pass the TV censors) that they changed their choice of song to this one as a response to a recent incident in China. About a lady in Shanghai who paid 200RMB tips for a delivery guy to go the extra mile in delivering food to her aged father and posted about it on social media as a heartwarming story, but then got attacked by flamers on the internet, and ended up committing suicide over the cyberbullying.
Before the performance, when explaining his reason for choosing this song, Zhou Shen said to the effect of: "If it was just about public figures, I wouldn't have done this performance. But in today's society, there are a lot of normal people getting affected by cyberbullying. And I want to bring strength to these people."
I really cant believe how this people can be that bad!? After that suicide how they cant feel responsible of that lost life. I will never understand this hate.
@@coffeereaction It might not even be purposeful hate directed at the person. Often it could be people who are using the anonymity offered by the internet to say things they never would in in real life. Or it could also be people who don't get how hurtful their comments could be, especially when added together in a mob, and directed at normal people who aren't prepared for the sudden attention from the masses.

This is the thing I love about Chinese music. It is not only about the music, the lyric and the message delivered by the artist are always very meaningful.

This song is an original song written by Penny Dai (a female Malaysian singer-songwriter).
It's probably different because he collaborated with Hu Yanbin. Everyone who collaborates with him will tend to go out of their comfort zone and challenge new things. Hu Yanbin is famous for doing all his own song arrangments on these shows in interesting ways (as well as writing new music & lyrics into the songs). If you look at the credits at the beginning, you'll see his name everywhere ^^ The band used in this show is also from his company. HYB likes to infuse future bass/electronic elements into rock, and that's probably why it reminds you of Eurovision ^^ He debuted in 2002 when he was 17, so this year is HYB's 20th year in the industry.
