I think it's stunning. It has a kind of monstrous beauty. I know there's the Ecozilla and the NY0080 Godzilla, but this one is properly Godzillian. I love it. Great video, thanks man.

totally love this historic case design. this is a great watch otherwise as well...very light, super alignment and cosmetics...the sec hand is 95%+ on the markers all the time (just some minor drift every now and then), the crown is A+++, the lume as well. i'm a classic dive watch collector and lover going back to the Rolex sub, and many many 60s Swiss and Japanese models...and despite that i adore this case design. which means nothing really, as we all have our own tastes. but just to let you know that as a 35yr mechanical dive watch collector/seller/restorer i absolutely appreciate this case, as different as it is. this is a winner watch. lucky enough to get the version you show here from amazon for $261...i just lucked into it. but would have bought at $400, and been happy. by the way, the strap is super comfortable...me with a 7 1/4" wrist. hope that helps in your survey of what people think of the style.

Picked up the blue version. Your quibbles about the date window and strap are 100% correct. Other than that, I'm loving this watch. What's funny is how small it looks because of the dial diameter. Your video and photos I've seen make it look huge, but it definitely doesn't feel that way. I was torn between this and a Seiko Tuna. Really glad I went with the Citizen. Your Bell & Ross comment is what I was thinking too. Also has a Luminox tactical watch feel. I picked this up for just under $400 and I think it's a bargain at that price point. Thanks for reviewing it!

The square, obviously gives the watch its own identity, sandblasted titanium gives the metal that weathered
metal look, too bad on the case back they didn't do anything more but as a tool watch I guess that's enough. Great video, a lot will like or dislike the look thank you for bringing it to the channel and review!
The gold or yellow details on hands and number markings remind me of my Casio watches of the 90's.

You've hit the nail on the head, when you say the look is polarizing. I can't speak for anyone else (obviously).... But I Love everything about it. You're also correct when you say Seiko could learn a thing or two about QC from Citizen. I currently own 18 eco drives and can honestly say, I've never had any issues. I also own a few Seikos and the build quality just ain't what it used to be. Still love em though. Great Review, as always... Cheers from the UK !!!

I purchased one for $325 and was excited to get it. I’m on the fence with its overall size. I’m a big guy (6’7” 245) and it just feels too small. To be honest, thanks to the weight (or lack of) it feels like a very expensive toy. I expected (due to reviews) some massive beast of a watch. It’s like wearing a 80’s swatch.

The pseudonym "TORTOISE" is so fitting with this watch.
Draw an outline of a TORTOISE and you will see what I mean.
The crown is the head and the 4 corners are the stubby legs of a TORTOISE.
I love the watch but I would have to swap the minute hand with a red or orange SEIKO TURTLE PADI hand to make it pop.
450 is a 3rd of what a TUNA would cost.
    It's an eccentric timepiece

They also made an 800m version to go with the 1300m back in the 80s . I had one. It had gas permeable o rings so didn't need a helium escape valve. The modern one your reviewing has a durinox coating on the grade 5 titanium so should be less prone to scratches.

I like the case design, but it's the size, Citizen's website quotes it at 47mm, to be polite it's just a little too big! Fair enough if it had the same depth rating as the original it would be understandable. It should have been 42mm with 20 - 22mm lugs, I'd probably have paid up for that imaginary version!

Helpful review. I like Citizen's dive watches, already wear an ecozilla with aftermarket lugs, a titanium mechanical diver (nb6004-83e), and a thinner titanium eco-drive diver. Eyed this on and off for a while, and with the all-in price under $250, just purchased. I'm also a happy seiko tuna wearer, so this should work fine. Interesting comment about the watch feeling small - I have an 8 1/4 inch wrist and am intrigued to see how it wears.

It’s crazy how expensive that original version was at the time with a quartz movement they must have spent a ton of money on tooling and R&D i personally love retro dive watch reissues from a variety of brands so I like the new modern reinterpretations I haven’t really got to look at this one up close until now these dials might be some of the coolest I’ve seen from citizen I am also on the fence I like the eco drive although I wouldn’t have minded a 4 hertz myiota either but oh well and I like the fact they got rid of the date function and moved the crown to 3 o clock but I really wish they would have kept the screws I’m sure a lot of people like that they got rid of them but I love seeing hardware on the outside of my tool watches it just screens function over form. Same with the QC never had a problem with citizen I’ve bought Seikos for $1k plus and had the bezel not be aligned I have cheap pro masters less than $200 the bezel action is phenomenal and all my pro masters have milled claps most with ratcheting dive extensions your going to have to pay 4-5 times as much for a seiko I still can’t quit them I have a box full bod them and maybe 6-7 citizens Maybe I’ll flip a coin on it 🤣

Quartz was still well respected when this watch first came out and (If I remember correctly) was not only more desirable than auto but in many cases rather pricey in the early 80s. It's only after the Swiss revival that the average consumer began to see automatic as superior.

Gotta be one of the ugliest case designs ever created

This may well be the ugliest watch I have ever seen.

Its a dive watch, not a dress one. And she is perfect at it

I like the square case and color. You just said nobody needs 100m on a watch. You and I ... Maybe not... But there's professional divers that do and that's what Citizen sells, as much as other brands sell the concept, which is nice to have. I'm putting a link here for these guys, sponsored by Citizen. One of them is Ben Reymenants. He goes down to 200m and loves that Citizen surpasses that depth. Having said that most of the legit divers I know either use Citizen, Seiko, or the dive computer with no backup watch. Here's the link, I know you'll enjoy it. czcams.com/video/Vg7VvHNcXBA/video.html
