On the surface, the show and toyline look cheesy and barbaric, but I love the simplicity of a child's show using fantasy stories to teach real life lessons. I was rewatching recently and was blown off my chair with the veiled advice about reporting sexual abuse at the end of one show. I mean, that would literally get banned nowadays, but that message probably helped a lot of kids experiencing that.

And do it all again. The world has changed so much since then. And not for the better either. I kinda feel sorry for kids today. They really don't have anything. Glad to be an eighty's kid!

I am now only missing two vehicles, two erm.....figures (Twistoid and his twin), the comet.....things, and all but the outer two towers of Eternia.
A lot of Christmas mornings are fading with time. But I remember the morning I opened Castle Greyskull in 1983. I will never forget it. I had it until 1995, when sadly I had to leave it to move to Oklahoma. Mom found it here in town in 2016, and I got it for Christmas one more time. And my collection began again with it.

I may not have the biggest MOTU toy collection like you, but I got a lot of good memories from the cartoon. First of all, you are right about one thing, Lou Scheimer was great man, giving us such awesome cartons like He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. He is the true face of Children's TV unlike the ones we see from Litton Entertainment. And I don't care what some people say about the cartoon itself, through the life lessons at the end of every episode, we learn to be better people down the long haul, far more better than those "Edutainment" shows we see today. Well done on the video, especially reminding me how awesome and well-informed the cartoon was and always will be. Keep up the good work. ;)

@@MichaelMercy Quite true. I say the same for the other cartoons I grew up watching in the 80s and 90s like G.I. Joe, Centurions, She-Ra, Filmation's Ghostbusters, Inspector Gadget, Heathcliff, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and, yes, even Sailor Moon. Their PSA/life lesson/science fact segments on their shows way better than those of Litton Entertainment and that's a fact.

Great video! Makes a person realize how lucky they were--me and my brother--to grow up during what now seems like a golden age of toys. My brother was into Star Wars, He-Man, and Transformers. TV shows were sometimes seen as mere commercials but they were really much more than this. The idea of re-paints and re-use never bothered me either. That was one of the ways that carmaker AMC used to survive back in the 70s. The He-Man cartoon certainly was great and seeing that on TV during the same period as Transformers was awesome to say the least.

  • @SgtRoxx72
    @SgtRoxx72 Před 5 lety +1

Amazing video as always brother! Even though I didn't collect these figures as a child, I enjoyed the cartoon very much. Even back then I knew they were full of heart, and valuable moral lessons. He-Man might have had a bigger affect on me than I realize. Many of the lessons that were taught I still live by today. Thanks to other cartoons I learned not to take a bath with a toaster and not to leave a rake lying in the yard, but He-Man taught me to have self-worth and to be kind to others. Put others before yourself, and to do it unselfishly. Life lessons that I still practice every day.

Great job on this video! Well done! I was a huge fan of Masters of the Universe back then starting in 1982. The comics that came with the characters were great as well as the toys. I thought the cartoon was a little on the childish side compared to the original image of the toys and included comics but still well done. The music was memorable and good too. They even used some very good 24fps animation which is rare in cartoons (and re-used many of those scenes again and again). I didn't understand that back then but simply noticed it looked more fluid and real. The cartoon seemed to bring the franchise to the masses and had some good moral lessons too. I remember seeing the Sorceress toy at a KB toy store near the end of the run but by then had quit buying the toys. Seems some of the most creative toys were at the end.

17:20 I totally agree with you. It is still something you can show to the kids of today - maybe for a better world . . . :-) Greetings from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

I remember that record that came with the Talon Fighter. My cousin and I used to scratch with it on my record player.

I really was crazy for these action figures back then collected almost all of them.

That was a fun video that was way more heartfelt at the end than I was expecting. I took large pistol from another Mega Construx figure today and posed He-man with it along with his axe, then called him Gun-darr. All he needs to complete the illusion is a scale version of Cupcake Fury.

Great review!! Man, I need to get back into collecting He-Man figures. Boy, the prices have skyrocket a lot this year.

I want to go back to the 80's to re-live my childhood and not worry about Covid, paying bills, or any other adult issues. I wish to go back to being a kid spending hours in my room playing with my Masters of the Universe Toys. I had Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain. I did not have Eternia.

So are "Robuts" better than Robots? I took those messages to heart as a kid. That's what cartoons lack today.

I was a collector of the original line back in 1982. I have just recently just started buying vintage figures & Classics again.

"Man-E-Weapons," which I got for birthday in 1983 from a classmate, was my first MOTU figure, and the reason I am frequently low on funds to ths day. 🤣
Addendum: Anyone else notice that Linda Gary played Teela on the Point Dread record, too?
