As a Vegan let me tell you you'll be missing nothing at any celebration and after about 2 years your brain forgets the tastes it used to like, but 1st get the boat finished the make changes if you want to.

Changing the subject but as of yesterday 7th January 2024, the river level has risen maybe four feet above normal where we moor near St Ives. The water is around a foot deep over the mooring, which can be very dangerous for boats, especially when the level starts falling again as it's possible to get caught on top of structures and banks. I used to live near St Neots and remember the level could rise quite a lot after heavy prolonged rain. There have been photos in the local press showing Riverside park flooded too in the past couple of days. It's noticeable in your videos that your mooring hasn't got any flood poles to prevent the boat floating over the mooring. Unless it's a floating pontoon, you need to check the mooring ropes every day at the moment to make sure they are slack enough to allow for the rise in level but also tight enough so the bow can't drift over the top of the mooring platform in front of the boat. Even if it is a floating pontoon, there's a limit to how high it can go. I've seen several narrow boats on finger moorings get sunk in the past due to moving forward over the bank when water levels are high and then the bow getting stuck when it falls again. That can allow the stern to dip below the water surface and the hull can flood instantly. The water levels at the moment are the highest I can recall since Easter 1998 so extra care is needed.
Oh woaw, what a great insight, luckily we are on a floating pontoon so we're in luck, st neots has been massively flooded..we have only been up this way a few years so have never seen anything like this, the river is also absolutely rapid, hopefully everyone stays safe 😀
