Girl! You got almost 300 comments on this video and these comments are crazy. Everything you said in this video is correct. Finally leaving after almost 12 years (3.5 years in operations, specially repairs and after sales services, and the rest as a sales associate). For those who have anything negative to say about this video, come back in 5 years and you will see exactly what she is saying. Always choose leather over canvas. Meanwhile I have vintage Louis vuitton bags that have never cracked. People purchase Speedy 30 sans bandouliere bc it is an iconic top handle bag, NOT to save $500. I purchased my Speedy 30 in 2010 to carry it in the crook of my arm. I would never carry a 30 crossbody or as a shoulder bag, now my Keepall 45 and 50 are bandouliere bags, but those bags are designed for very different purposes.

So sad Louis Vuitton has used inferior canvas for the last several years and raised prices often. I bagan buying LV in the mid 80s and my older bags have never cracked. If you want quality, buy vintage. Thank you for the revue. Some of the bags featured were on my to buy list. i have changed my mind and have subscribed to your channel.
Regarding the peeling vs pilling
Peeling is when the lining or fabric or overcoat lifts from a surface whereas pilling is when a material (usually fabric like silk lining) starts getting snags and contact causes the material to bunch up and fray. Thanks for the video. You have many good examples.
I own the pochette metis. I bought it 2 years ago and itâs in great condition. So far so good because I donât use it that often. I have other bags that I interchange it with so maybe thatâs why I havenât seen any of issues other ppl have but honestly I love the design so much and I do plan on getting it in leather.
I use my Neo Noe as a work bag and have had no issues at all. Itâs a comfortable bag, fits a good amount and hadnât lost its shape. With that being said, I also take care of all my bags and donât carry a water bottle, pens, keys or anything that can damage the interior.

Mine is in perfect shape. It is three years old and my most used bag. I donât baby it, but I donât abuse it either. I am careful not to overload my bags as I feel that is what causes most of the problems.

Hi sweetie, your point is valid because proper care can go a far way in preserving any item, BUT, this video was not to bad talk the bags, Maison Malli was saying that they are simply not worth the money when compared to multiple other options of bags that LV would have which require less maintenance.
Also, you are speaking from a subjective perspective where your special efforts to preserve these bags worked for you, Maison Malli is speaking from an objective perspective where she would have gathered shared experiences and reviews from hundreds (if not more) clients, including her personal expertise.

The cracking issues on the pochette MĂ©tis is a very well known issue and caused a lot of strife for a lot of people, the lack of a strap and bigger sizes on the speedy is also a very common complaint, a lot of the points in this video are very well known and I am glad for videos like this as I have avoided a lot of the heartache inconvenience and time needed to deal with these issues as LV can be a nightmare to deal with.

I have the PM in Empriente and Reverse my empriente is a work horse and I never have any issues with. My reverse I just got back from LV Repairs in Paris for glazing and while replacing the glazing they saw a crack in canvas and replaced my whole flap at no charge so basically I got a whole new bag back. The Reverse I know now I have to treat with kid gloves and not use it at much as my blk PM. But love the bag it great for everyday and travel. When I suggest this bag I always tell everyone to spend a bit more for the Empreinte they will get more wear for their money with no issues.
Whether my bag is $50 or $5,000, I treat it the same, and get the same mileage out of both.
My first LV was a Black Epi Speedy 30. This bag was purchased in 1998/99. I have gone on to purchase two additional Speedy. bags, mono and DE Azur. I love all three and have never had a problem. The Speedy bag is a classic. In my opinion, it is meant to be carried in the crook of your elbow.

Thank you for this perspective! I totally agree that when you are buying a luxury item you really don't want to skimp over a few dollars if it means the item will more perfectly fit your needs. (I'm thinking specifically of the Speedy vs Speedy B.) I have a PM in canvas and so far haven't had any issues, but honestly I don't use it very often. Like others have mentioned I'd love to hear your thoughts on bags and SLGs that are wonderful but may not be as popular. Thanks for another wonderful video!!

Want to share that I spoke with a CA last week. I mentioned I was trying to decide between the Neverfull and Neonoe. She politely pointed out in the most pc way that the Neonoe âchanges shapeâ based on what you carry, so recommended I stay mindful of that. She basically said what you saidâŠâitâs going to look a mess laterâ lol

Hey @Susan, I just got the Neo Noe in Empriente. How do you find it compared to the canvas? Just on first impression the leather feels way too soft to hold its structure. Even the bottom feels thin but I havenât used the bag yet so again just my first impression.
@@ModesTy33 I think the canvas will lose it's shape about the same maybe even more. The empreinte is so nice and I carried it on vacation and everyday for a month and I saw zero sag. I don't over stuff my bags. The neonoe canvas I've carried a little more and again no sagging. I think I worry about the canvas bag way more than the empreinte. But I've have zero issues. I'm way okay with my leather getting softer. Leather to me is better over time. (Hope I answered your question)

I sat here and watched the entire video and I don't intend to buy any of these bags. I have the speedy but I was a bit put off when it came as its canvas. I feel like with my kind of work I can't just throw the bag everywhere and I cannot baby a bag. Great video, learnt a lot.

I have 3 of the 5. Wow! But I will say I have no issues so far. I do not carry much in my bags and I rotate often. Hoping I will be ok. After last years price increases I have lost interest in purchasing LV. Still love what I have but my last 2 large purchases have been YSL and some contemporary. Love your videos!

I agree with you about the Canvas LV bags. I got my first one in 1985 and it's in better condition than my newer LV bags. Even some of the leather ones.
The first 3 I own and love so I was like ouch LOL. You made VALID points on all 5 bags. I agree the speedy bag w/o the strap isnât practical for daily use. I love it though still canât lie. I havenât had any issues with my PM or NeoNoe but then again I donât wear them constantly. I think they both make great bags in canvas or leather but you do need to be mindful that canvas is just that canvas. Itâs not going to wear like leather. Love your videos â€ïž

I definitely disagree with the capucines and the shape. I think with the Birkin, Kelley, and classic flaps, people definitely stuff them to hold their shape. Over time they will all lose their shape or crease awkwardly if not stored properly. I think the capucines is the high-end of Louis Vuitton and think it should be coveted and recognized for its beautiful leather. I can see your points for everything else you talked about in this video. Thank you for sharing đ
When I buy canvas I expect to run in it to the ground and use it everyday. I expect to replace it within 3-5 years. this is my outlook on canvas.. itâs meant to be an everyday casual piece.
I bought the 30 and 35 without the bando, last year, preloved vintage from the 80s. I swap them out as every day bags and theyâre holding up just fine, love them. I donât stuff them, wallet, sunglasses⊠few small necessities and they do fine. I would however recommend the keepalls with bando⊠I bought the 55 and wouldnât carry that around without a shoulder strap walking to the terminals in airports đ
I have the speedy 35 without the bando. My first LV purchase and in hindsight, it's big for my frame but I purchased an organizer for it and it's not the bottomless pit.

I have the Canvas Pochette Metis and the Neo Noe and love both. I take care of them and rotate with other bags. My Neo Noe is 4 years old and has not done any of the things youâve described. Itâs still in good shape! No cracking at all either

Now the Dooney & Bourke coated canvas is amazing in that it can be used as an every day bag. Now I also have several bags that I rotate so they donât get worn out. But over all a good bag. I have the Neo Noe, but I do keep inserts in it for organization and I try not to overstuff it so hopefully that will allow me to keep the bag nice longer, plus I rotate my bags. Regarding the Cappucine, I bought the double V bag, which for me was similar to this bag at a lesser price point. One of the bags that I hate they discontinued that was classic was the Sophia Coppola bag.

The other day I stopped by a boutique, asking to try a Mylockme and Buci, and the SA was being very nice and helpful. And suddenly she just put two Capucines in front of me đ Just like the Mylockme, they didnât feel special to me at all. Plus the Capucines donât even have a proper closure?

I'm curious what your opinion is as to why LV is making canvas pieces harder to get while pushing their leather pieces to the forefront? Is it to compete with Chanel and HermĂšs or to avoid the problems with canvas bags?
If you think deeper, the canvas does came from France, but where they âactually got themâ and where the materials are from. Lets think about the oversea boarder from Asia is shut down or very limited of all their shipment right now, I think we have a pretty clear answer right? Which one you will choose to import? Leathers to make more money or canvas that make less ;)

As regards to the Speedy, I'm just in love with my 30 and my 35 WITHOUT shoulder strap. In fact, I find the speedy with strap so ugly when it's carrying on the shoulder with these useless handles đ . By the way, I love them since I used a bag organizer, without the organizer it's just a mess and a waste of time to find your stuff. I use them very often and just got the 35 recently because I found that my 30 was a little too small for my everyday use at work when I need to carry a jacket, an umbrella and a bottle of water.

I only have the pochette metis in canvas, as it didnât exist in leather when i got mine. Eventhough i am aware of the issues i might end up having with it, iâd still buy it again. It is one of my most worn bags and i love the look of it too much.
I have a PM and my first one had cracking issues. LV replaced it and itâs been fine since. I do want another one bc I love the style but would def get it in the leather this time around. I also used to have a speedy 35. It was my first LV bag and although I loved it I sold it bc it was just too big and heavy to carry everyday and got the speedy b25 and Iâm happy with that decision. I do want a 30 one day though. I donât own the others you mentioned but I agree they do push the capucine bag way too much and itâs just not the it bag for me.

I have the PM in canvas, I chose not to get the leather version bc over time the LV imprint flatten out overtime. I have watched several videos on complaints about this, you might want to touch on that issue as well so people will be aware of the pros and cons for both materials.
Only if youâre using it every single day beaten to death. I have a few items I empriente and my cles is JUST now smoothing but I can still see the embossed LV itâs just smoothed out in some areas that are regularly coming into contact with friction

Interesting and thoughtful views. I own 7 speedies in various sizes from 25 to 40 which are my workhorse bags and the one used the least is the 25 because of its capacity but it is in the original epi and so I will never part with it. The speedy is my favourite silhouette from LV and it is for the very reason that you mentioned why I wonât be buying anymore. I much prefer without the bandolier strap, I carry my bags in the crook of my elbow and get on just fine with them. I find with the strap itâs awkward to carry where it sits on the body and I wouldnât wear it crossbody. I wear my keepall the same way, I have a size 60 and with the strap and bag at full capacity makes it uncomfortable to carry so I purchased without.

Well said. I had a stored PA Used about 8 times. Not at all during lock down. Went to use it and noticed a crack. Paid them ÂŁ165 for put a new panel in where the d-ring is. They ruined it. We had to really argue our point. Eventually they gave me a new one. Sold 1 mini PM now going to sell my reverse. Thanks for affirming how bad they can be.

If I had to hazard a guess I'd say Neverfull is on that list of best value. I live in a city and it's just the best bag. Even for travelling. For babies. Even took the cat to the vets in a Neverfull as I couldn't find a cat basket in a hurry LOL!

I have no issue with my Neo noe and it kept its shape cos of the bag organiser inside. It made my bag looks so good whenever I use it so I have no complains. As for the Pochette metis, I use it everyday for the last 2 years and it held up really well. All my bags are from France and I highly recommend all the made in France items.
Iâm here to tell you thatâs a Lv myth. Bag made in France are defective too. I have clients come in alllllllllll the time with defective France made bags. All of the materials are imported from France for us made bags. The artisans are all trained the same way, the problem is the quality of the canvas has gone down. Iâve seen clients bring in bags they have had for 30 years and the canvas is just WOW, amazing! My 2 cents of working there 7 years and going through many bags đ
I have purchased 3 pouchette metis and returned each one. Itâs an it bag but not for me. The speedy 30 in ebene is my all time fav bag holds it all and with an organizer holds its shape well⊠love it in azur as well for summer and didnât and wouldnât recommend azur crossbody or tote due to color transfer on the azur bags. The neonoe is my next purchase if I can land one due to its everyday casual appeal again organizers are a must with most of these larger canvas bags to hold shape. Iâm not a fan of the cappuccin bag at any price point as itâs a bit too old looking for me. Loved your video. Thank you

Great video! Iâve had a Pochette MĂ©tis and she cracked twice, after Iâve got a brand new one Iâve decided to part with it. Itâs too much stress going to the store and everything.
I wanted to buy one because it was so beautiful. I then heard all the horror stories just like yours. So sorry you had to endure problems of such low quality.

You are spot on about those bags. 1 more MĂ©tis issue⊠the freaking strap edging. Iâve never seen so much product in buckets to be damaged out. I mean those buckets were always full!

I love capucines . I bought 2 from my SA. One calf Bb one croc mini. She is very happy so do i. I will totally get the third one. Love cap. Better than Chanel quality. All the bag LV made under 4500 doesnât use high end leather. Cap does. The leather is the as same as Hermes T leather.

Great video thank you. I have a Neonoe and so far so good. I will keep my eye out for any cracking or problems with the glazing. I do switch my bags fairly often and I have been buying my bags mostly leather since you gave me the tip when I was looking at getting the neverfull MM. I am so so glad I got that in leather it is amazing.
I can not see that kind of money for canvas, not when Chloe, Burberry & Dior put out such beautiful, long lasting leathers. 20 years from purchase you still have a beautiful leather bag.

LV has address the issues of the canvas on PM. my new one is very well made. canvas is softer, no cracking & glazing issues... so i would highly recommend the revamp PM!

I totally agree that canvas cracks. I have a speedy 35 for about 10 years now and I just noticed that it's cracking. I was upset at first but my husband reminded me that I got my money's worth per use so I got over it. But I would never buy another canvas. I do have a question though. Am I able to get the cracks fixed? They are at the top by the zipper

Great video! I have the Speedy B 30 which I always use hand-held by the top handles. I have one section of the strap attached and looped under the bag just because I like the look - it makes the bag look a little more interesting! Occasionally, I'll carry it on my shoulder when I need to be hands-free for a quick second and really like having this option even though I mainly carry it in hand.

1 more thing, IMO, I think LVâs on the go is their âit badâ. I see a lot of celebs, bloggers, and LV fans have it. I eventually want to get one myself in the reverse monogram or Empriente Leather.

I have two of the bags (Neo Noe & Pochette MĂ©tis) on your list and they are still in pristine condition. I switch my bags out a lot. Unfortunately, I think these issues are only revealed after theyâve been used quite a bitâŠđ

I have an azur Neo NoĂ© thatâs 2 1/2 years old and is still like new.
Iâve owned it in the monogram canvas (in the red leather) for two years now and it still looks new, too! I donât baby my bags either.
I own this bag in the canvas with black leather. I think I've had it 3 years now, no issues. It's in my rotation very often. So if you do have any issues don't think that'll happen anytime soon. đ
