    I just sailed solo on the NCL sky and got a great deal on a solo ocean view.

      NCL does such a great job with Solo cruising. I am so glad to see that they extended their studios into other stateroom categories. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching!

    It very unfair that solo travellers have to paid double cost. In this day and age all ships should have solo rooms 😮

      I agree completely! You can find good solo deals, but you have to hunt for them and plan early. I have a couple this summer where I was able to apply a solo promo to the cruise. Also, many more cruise lines are offering solo accommodations but the choices are still very limited. Thanks for sharing and for watching!

    I prefer to dine alone...my own table.. I'll wait.

      I also like to dine alone when traveling solo. Normally the desk at the MDR will accommodate you. I had to wait until most were seated to change my assignment but the rest of the cruise they sat me at the same table by myself.

    Vacations, for me, are for relaxation and having a flexible plan so, I enjoy cruising solo. If I want company, there are always people to engage. If I want some me time, I take it. The only down side to cruising solo are the ports of call. I don't feel safe exploring on my own. I will either join an organized excursion or remain on board.

    • @seemoreseascruises3791
      @seemoreseascruises3791  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I agree with you 100%! The flexibility of being able to set your own schedule and having your own agenda is so relaxing. I tend to stay on the ship when in ports too. Going on an organized excursion is not only more safe for you it also tends to give me that nudge to get off the ship. I am normally very glad that I did. Thanks so much for sharing!

    I did two solo cruises last year and loved them. The first was a solo cabin on the Koningsdam to Alaska. The second was an Atlantic transit with a 0% single supplement on the Edge. Being alone at dinner or going ashore is very much a plus, and no one is really alone when you sit at the bar.

    • @seemoreseascruises3791
      @seemoreseascruises3791  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I have done a few and like them as well. I want to try a single infinite veranda on the Edge Class someday. I also enjoy dining solo. This last solo I ate at a table for 8 and it was a good group. Thanks for sharing as always!!

    This is a great video. I've cruised twice solo. The cost the last time was so high that I swore I was done. Now that NCL has added solo balconies I am going to give it another try.

    • @seemoreseascruises3791
      @seemoreseascruises3791  Před 8 měsíci

      I am hoping that this NCL move is going to be a game changer. It will be interesting to see the pricing levels and strategies. I never really saw the small NCL studios a good option for me but having a balcony solo could be a great option. Celebrity's solo balconies are actually a great deal compared to the double occupancy prices though still pricey. I hope it works out for you! Thanks for watching!

    Marketing to solo cruisers & having fun benefits for solo cruisers is the wise solution. Virgin has a Solo Lounge in their studio cabin I read. Solo travelers can be a benefit to cruise ship profits if they know how to make it like a special club with benefits.

      I could not agree more! I just got off a Virgin cruise and they have daily solo happy hours. The Virgin solo staterooms are pretty small but they also offer some great solo rates from time to time. NCL has a dedicated lounge in their studio area. Thanks for watching!

    I took my first cruise ever in Oct on Princess, solo to Canada/New England. Loved it and am taking another Princess cruise solo to Alaska in May. I travel alone because I want to travel, my husband doesn't enjoy travelling, but is ok with me going alone. Maybe this is obvious, but a great reason to travel solo is wanting to travel and not having a travel companion. I am finding that cruising is a very comfortable way to travel alone because the social atmosphere is there when I want it and the environment is safe. I am an introvert and do enjoy/prefer spending time alone. Love being with my husband and good friends but am ok not spending fleeting time with strangers. I enjoyed taking my meals alone. As to pricing, I chose my first cruise by date and itinerary. I was given a price and decided I could afford it. For planning Alaska, i really looked only at Princess because I was so pleased with my first trip i had no reason to change. I did get a list of sailings with reduced single supplements and chose one from that list that happened to work for me on a ship i thought i would like. Rather than shop by price, i think it best to choose what i want and then see if i'm comfortable with the #. If Alaska goes well, I look forward to many future solo cruises. The itineraries seem awesome and the possibilities endless.

      @seemoreseascruises3791  Před 5 měsíci

      That is a great way to look at it for sure! Price is normally a big factor for most but I also take a look at the ship and the itinerary first with itinerary being the highest priority. The cruise line is also important in my experience since each has it's own personality. I completely understand the introvert aspect having being married to one. We travel very differently even on the same cruise. I do a lot of activities and attend the theater shows while he likes the less crowded venues. Keep doing what you are doing! I am glad that it works for you! I hope to have a few solo cruises in the coming year. Thanks for sharing and for watching!

    I’ve done a lot of solo travel, finally booked my first cruise! Going with NCL! Can’t wait, I can already feel the cruise addiction and I haven’t even boarded!

      Good for you! Yes, that cruise addiction is in your future! LOL. NCL is a great first option for solo - they do it best. Are you in a solo studio or in the newly announced solo Oceanview or balcony stateroom? I think that this solo expansion was a brilliant move by NCL.

    I found a solo balcony on Princess to Alaska this summer that was less expensive than the solo balcony on Norwegian.

      Good for you! That is a great score! I found a very inexpensive solo deal on Celebrity for May. Though Celebrity has had a huge amount of bad press lately due to their new pricing policies which really deters solo travelers, there are still single supplement deals to be had on some sailings. You really have to dig to find many of these on most lines. Thanks for sharing and for watching!

    thanks buddy, I normally watch Gary Bembridge videos, but I see you've got an Indiana university plaque on your wall, and we hoosiers gotta support each other! I just finished a cruise on the NCL Viva in europe and booked a solo studio cabin. 3 weeks before, i offered a small bit of money and got my own balcony cabin! I'm back on princess this october(I did the discovery last february) and it's so cheap, I'm just paying the double price. keep up the good work.

      Go Hoosiers! Thank you so much for watching and supporting. The Solo segment is an ever changing area but so glad to hear that there are deals out there. I just did one on Celebrity in a standard balcony at a solo price without the double occupancy price. They are out there, you just need to do the research. I appreciate you sharing your experience and for watching!

    Unfortunately I've heard that Celebrity is charging solo cruisers a lot of money recently. Here's a link to a video about it:
    czcams.com/video/JGV8imyP8CM/video.html

    • @seemoreseascruises3791
      @seemoreseascruises3791  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes they are. On most sailings it is more for a solo passenger than it would be for double occupancy. There are however some single supplement waiver sailings available. I booked a solo inside cabin for a May sailing on the Reflection which is a 4 Night Bahamas cruise for only $560. This included a single supplement waiver special. I don't think this makes up for the standard policy for overcharging for a solo passenger. I know Celebrity sales teams are very upset with the new policy and they are pushing hard internally to get this reversed. Time will tell. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
