Everytime when I have some issues with my bike or I'm interrested in such fancy stuff like chain waxing, i finally get to your videos. Don't know why i don't take the easy way and first search your content ;-) Your videos are really an excellent support! THX
Awesome timing, just bought a longer stem and found out left turns are not possible anymore and I need those sometimes. Ready to install some fresh white brake hose now after this perfectly detailed video. Thanks for your efforts mate ! Greetings from Amsterdam
As usual a great video. Just brought a Gravel Bike so having seen this I may shorten the lines because you make it look so easy to do. Going to have to look at the air bleeding video now though.
I've just tried this using the hammer, pliers and rag technique - it didn't work. However, using a bit of old inner tube wrapped around the hose instead of the rag worked great.
Hey Oz, thanks for making this video. I watched your video and was able to shorten my hydraulic cables with no issues. I actually used some wood working clamps to hold the cable while I hammered the barb in and that worked great. Also, I used an extremely sharp razor blade and it cut through with just a bit of pressure.
After two years of repairing hydraulic brakes on various bikes, I have not kept track of which bleed adapters for the syringe (caliper) and funnel (lever reservoir). Are there names for the various skinny/long/short/fat/small-pitch/large-pitch adapters that match manufacturers? Thank you for your video work.
Love the vids Oz, I have hydraulic brakes, but my front brake lever has become very spongey after a few days of being idle, if I pull the brake a few times it seems to tighten up again, any ideas why it's spongey?
awesome video ! BTW, I dont understand that, I was told to not put a carbon bike on the horizontal bar on the bike stand . You obviously use it and clamp it . Could you give a reason for that ?
Hey Mr Oz, my local 99 bikes store charged me $62 for a rear gear cable replacement, they had to tunes gears and the internal routing is a bit tricky, do you think the price is high because I think last time it was like $20 - 40 and he had to fish out all the cable strands out the shifter, yes my Shimano shifter is snapping cables every 2000km, there is no way I'm paying $62 every season
I want to change the steering wheel to a new one with hidden cable wiring. But this j-kit does not fit into the hole of the new steering wheel. Any solution? Is it possible to somehow completely remove this j-kit and put it back on after laying the cables in the steering wheel?
remove the wheels and place them far away, cover up the brake pads first before doing anything. a single drop of mineral oil in the brake pad means end of life.
Internal cable routing. Disc brakes. Two items i give zero about. Icr is just a stop gap until everything is wireless. Disc is anti climbing. Road bIke is only good at climbing. If your not climbing why ride a road bike?
This was objected to him many times, and he's aware of what is he doing. The jaws of the clamp are not set to firm hold, the frame rather hangs on the hook.
@@noahhalbfoster6892 I understand your concerns, and I would also never clamp the frame myself. I'm just saying this is a frequent comment on this channel and I doubt Mr. OZ will ever change his habits. Maybe he should not give the beginners the hint of clamping the frame, even if he never had a problem. Following guides from a respected person can lead to expensive lessons.

Great energy and technical knowledge, thanks a lot!
Thank you for explaining this in a very understandable way.

Great Video, always informative and step by step👍🏻 Good to see you guys working hard out on the bikes as well😉

Great, thanks a lot, dear. It helped me much.
What’s the name of the tool for the olive/insert?
Really good video.
영상대로 집에서 따라 해 보겠습니다.
Thx for the music
Very energetic 😹

Basically it's Shimano or SRAM. It will specify on the sellers website which they will fit.

Yes,air bubbles in the line. The next vid will show how to fix that 😁
Love how you show multiple ways to skin the cat.
No Worries OZ Style........ Perfect 👌 Liked, Subbed etc. ;)
awesome video !
BTW, I dont understand that, I was told to not put a carbon bike on the horizontal bar on the bike stand . You obviously use it and clamp it .
Could you give a reason for that ?
It's not clamped. For thin walled tubes I use 2 curved soft poly pipe pieces to distribute any forces on the tubing.
I got plenty of practice of cutting and joining brake lines on my MTB.
Did you reuse old barb and olive or must be new ones. You should mention that. Could be too late when line already cut
Always use new ones, they are designed for only one installation.

Dont use stainless steel gear cables as they tend to break easier than standard ones around tight corners....thats why they snap in the lever.

J-kit not used with internal cabling.
What is the brand/model of this press tool, I can't find it?
There are quite a few available on Aliexpress.
Hello. Can you reuse the old olive/insert? Is it recommended?
You can if you are careful to not damage its shape. Smear some grease on it when reinstalling helps it seal.
good tips!
Who the poor guy grinding and getting dropped as a result at 9:26?
Haha. Thats Gary. He was there last TDU,Satdy morning ride when we met.
looks like same guy going first @10:02
Nice video
do you have any tips if the hose joint is leaking?
Leaking at joint or along the hose?
From the intro it looks like you oldies are doing better than us young ones!
Hi! What kind of bike repair stand or clamp is that? Thank you.
30 year old Blackburn
@@stevenleffanue Thank you!
7:44 do I need to push it in firmly, or? Aka when do I know it's in correctly?
No , doing up the nut pushes it in place
@@stevenleffanue that makes sense 👍
can we reuse the barb and oilve or do we need a new one?
Preferably new ones especially the olive
@@stevenleffanue TY sir! Great videos, We are eagerly watching for the R12 update
Next update is about integrated bar and headset setup
@@stevenleffanue Awesome!
How do you know what type of barb to buy
Usually its bh90 or bh59 with Shimano. Otherwise Google
@@stevenleffanue thanks!
Two Lego bricks… that’s a big ask 😃
mamil power!
Ang galeng mo tanda
Insane how no one shows how far to push in the hose!!! They explain so much unnecessary bs but leave out info
Is there a fly in my room or in your video?🤣
Haha...it will be in the video....its Australia, land of flies.

Road bIke is only good at climbing.
If your not climbing why ride a road bike?
Climbing is more about the riders physical and mental ability and less about what bike he or she rides!
For gods sake do not clamp the Frame!!! use the seat post!!!
This was objected to him many times, and he's aware of what is he doing. The jaws of the clamp are not set to firm hold, the frame rather hangs on the hook.
@@chch242 I did see that but still way easier to replace post if something goes wrong
