    Even though I’ve been a professional photographer for the last 13 years (weddings) and understand many of the concepts you talk about, I always felt drawn to your videos. You have great images. But what I appreciate most is your engineer mindset applied to photography. I love the way your problem solve, iterate and reach to conclusions. And the systems and guidelines you create after it.
    I think you are one of the best photography educators in the world.

    I am a portrait photographer who only dabbles in street photos. In my genre, "focus" is simple...you shoot the subject. Thus, I have always been a little lost when out and about. That said, my "epiphany" from this video was "think in three's... an establishing shot, subject image, detail." Brilliantly simple idea. Thanks for the knock in the head Roman - I needed this.

    Some good advice, especially about travelling light. All i have in my bag is my Sony A6700 and single zoom lens, a lens cloth and a rain cover for the bag. My lens is the 18-135 f3. 5-5.6 which is very small and light. It means i have a choice of focal length and no need to change lenses. I can still concentrate on a single focal length if I wish.

    Roman, thank you for another wonderful and helpful video. Question - when referring to focal lengths, are you referring to full frame equivalents, or the actual APS-C focal length you use on your Fuji cameras? EG, when you said how much you appreciated the 50mm focal range, did you mean that in full frame equivalent, so that would be an APS-C 35mm lens? Or, did you mean the APS-C 50mm focal length (75mm full frame equivalent)? Thanks again!

    In line with putting in time is to go out shooting regardless of the weather.
    I used to be a fair weather photographer. Once I stopped that and went out whether it was hot, cold, raining, or snowing my photography improved dramatically.
    Partly because I didn't stay home due to 'bad' weather but also because I was able to get shots fair weather photographers never even get the opportunity to take.

    Thanks for sharing these tips. I would only qualify the 6th one (traveling light): it's far better, in my opinion, to take 2 cameras (e.g. one with a 28mm and the other with a 50mm) than 1 body with 2 lenses. The added weight is largely outweighed by the increased reactivity and time saving. Cheers !

      Why not use a zoom lens?

    • @philociraptor6751
      @philociraptor6751 Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@tititatiti Why not, indeed. It depends how you use them. Many photographers (I'm one of those) prefer prime lenses for various reasons, in particular: 1) The more you get accustomed to a focal length, the more you learn to "see" in that focal length and compose the image in your head before you even take the camera. 2) The more options you have, the more likely you'll hesitate, waste time choosing and sometimes eventually miss good shots.
