Just wanted to say you’re absolutely correct that Ameraucanas are true blue egg layers. Easter eggers are a mixed breed usually derived from Ameraucanas that most hatcheries sell as Ameraucanas but they’re not. Easter eggers can lay all different colors of eggs (some of them blue).
However, breeding a marans rooster (or any rooster that carries a brown egg laying gene like a Welsummer for example) to Any blue egg layer will give you an olive egger chicken. You just have to make sure that the Easter egger you have gives you blue eggs first. :)

Thanks for sharing. I’m working on a few coops right now so I can keep different breeds separate. Going to work on a few science project breed mixes in the next couple years. Current favorite breed is Americauna, but I’m getting new chicks and hatching some fertile eggs of a few new breeds this year, so that may change my favorite.
Easter chicken my favorite
I can’t wait to get my breeding pons set up for 2023. How much space in a run do you feel your birds need when they are free ranging. I see a lot of people try to go by the 10 ft rule. But that feels too tight for me. Maybe I’m calculating it wrong. If I have a pen that is 250 are feet or 10 feet by 25 feet… it should comfortably do 25 hens. But that just feels tight. It seems like your birds have more space.

You are amazing with you animals. I think this year you should get some different color orpingtons like black, chocolate, and jubilee. I am getting some of those this year and I thought you should get some to. You could hatch and breed them next year.

Hello I'm a new youtuber who is wanting a farm when I grow up (I'm 15) I wanna learn how to take care of live stock such as horses, chickens, and I wanna learn how grow plants as well. But I don't really have family members who can help and my mom thinks asking random farmers is a bad idea- do you have any advice?

What is your opinion of rabbit breeding I’m doing a ton a research and making sure I do it right, but I feel like I will get judged for it
Don’t worry about getting judged for it! The demand for rabbits is different everywhere. I know sometimes they are really hard to find good homes for, so that was my only concern when I was wanting to get into breeding them. Rabbits are great pets, but they aren’t for everyone. I would breed a breed that you love and that is high in demand in your area💗
