- A short piece from the classic Dirty Harry movie "Magnum Force" because of the context of the above quote.
I'm not sure it's journalism, but I guess it's fair use - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Rest in peace to Mr Hal Holbrook (1925 - 2021).
Clint in sunglasses = badass
Awesome sun-glasses. Rayban Balorama.
I’m a retired firefighter paramedic. I can relate to what he said about the food. No matter what you just saw, you still have to eat.
True enough
True. And I bet you've seen some stuff that haunts you sometimes.
It's ironic that 2 movies later, in Sudden Impact, there's a murder scene simultaneous with a Detective eating. And Harry is definitely not the hungry one in that movie.
@@grahamspragg7494 nobody, I mean nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog
Tis a fact that, body and mind lend themselves to ‘our case’ but sooner manage to operate independently.
The whole cast sparkles. Eastwood, Holbrook, Felton Perry, Mitchell Ryan, and everyone else sparkle.
Michael Daly same with David Soul, Tim Matheson, Kip Niven and Robert Ulrich who played the young motorcycle cops turned vigilantes
No one walks up to the scene of the crime like Harry Callahan does.
Well put!! Just too fucking cool for school. Classic Harry!! I love the lenses they used to shoot this.
Yeah, all day long Mate. Sir Clint of Eastwood always has been and always will be the fucking bollocks. 👍
“ a good man always knows his limitations “
What makes these old movies so good, are the longer scenes. Nowadays scenes are 10 seconds at the most.
also very little background music
This movie reminds me about my life .... dealing with egotistical people ... always keeping the good guy down ..... Harry wins at the end of the day !
a quote ive lived my life by...A mans got to know his limitations..saw it when i was 11...i have never forgotten it.
I think you've missed the point
Me too!
Its an insult, and a good one
It actually makes a lot of sense.
Some movies, like Magnificent 7, Hard Times , and The Godfather can teach you life lessons.
"Right now, that's a lot of money"
'How could you eat after seeing that?'
'Seeing what?'
Classic stuff.
Man I forget how sublime dialogue can be. Brevity is the soul of wit and all that.
Nobody, I mean nobody puts ketchup on a hotdog
love the 70's police cars and radio sounds
These old films are better. The way they're filmed just makes it so awesome. And the main character isn't a hardcore badass like today's films where nothing can stop him Which is good cos it shows they have a weakness ad the strength to deal with it.
Plus the 'diversity' that is pushed down viewers' throats.
Simpler times
@@a.a.7416 indeed.. Hollywood is woke shit courtesy of demoncrats
Clint Eastwood isn't a hardcore badass?😆
The coolest thing about the tag line is that you'd easily miss it as a another witty one liner to eloquently say "f*** you Briggs". However every other time it's mentioned it gradually gets more and more meaningful. Harry might be a rough cop, but he only makes jabs at people like him when he feels like they aren't being real with him. It's kind of like having someone fresh at work getting a bit pissed at an older guy whose been there longer whose lost any semblance of restraint in saying exactly how they feel. They have enough time there to have stakes in what they do and maybe even have luggage they carry, yet no matter how bitter they get they are still there. They have values that have proven to be correct and they take life as it is, the good and the bad. Briggs might have been there longer in terms of time, but he wasn't living it like Harry was. You can say allot of things about Harry, but he is not apathetic or egotistical.
The way these movies are filmed it's like, there's no Rush.
You can’t rush art
Love all Eastwood movies. They dont make em like this anymore!
Classic Clint
You talking about Clint or the movie?? They don't make niether worth a shit anymore.
The cops got the poverty pack with police options. When I was a kid my dad was a Flord fan. His first new Galaxie was in 1964, another one in 66, a LTD in 68, 70 and 72. I left home in 73. Then he went to Lincoln in 75,77 and 80. I got the shock of my life, up till then, in 84 when I came back from O/S and there was a MB 280SEL 3.5 sitting in the garage. Back in the Flord days it was cool to go to the drive-in to see Clint...and we liked Bronson movies and John Wayne movies too! The 60's and 70's were good times for our family.
Great time to grow up in Chicago
I loved those MB sedans. I had an early 70s 280SE (not the longer L), and it was one classic, beautiful car, both in and out.
When you have no fear you have no limitations!!!!!!!
If anyone notices the brown 1971 Ford Galaxie 500 and the green 1972 Ford Galaxie 500 are the cars used in the classic cop show "The Streets Of San Francisco".
My bro had a '66 powder blue Galaxy 500- a boat !
Filmed by tbe same studio
"Dude, you've been wearing the same model sunglasses for as long as I've known you, isn't it time for something else?" *Thinks about this scene* "Ehm, no"
To be able to talk to your boss like that: bad ass!!
Boss: I get it, this guy is limited, no promotion for him...
"You're on loan to Stakeout, Callahan."
"That's RIGHT, Lieutenant. You saw to that."
"I've got nothing personal against you, Callahan, but we can't have the public crying 'police brutality' every time you go out onto the street."
"Well you might just need me on a job like this."
My absolute favorite quote from clint eastwood.
I like the way Harry doesn't let Briggs provoke him say's that classic line "Man's got......
Keeping your cool with an a** for a boss
2:30 nice reference to Harry's former partner (from the first film). The way Harry notes "He's teaching college" suggests a longing for that kind of peaceful anonymity he knows he can never have.
DH: "Got another trade Smith?"
"No."
"Get one."
these are some great, classic lines... i love this series!
The guy that played Bill McKenzie also had a roll as a Deputy Sheriff in “Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry”. It was the scene where they went into the open air flea market & picked up the ‘69 Dodge Charger then were spotted by the Deputies so they took off like a bat outta hell then peeled the door off of the ‘72 Polara as the Deputy was getting out of the drivers seat.
Man's GOT to know his limitations... [roll credits]
Exactly 💯💯
Dialogue, cool.
Actors, cool.
Editing, cool.
Cars, cool.
Costumes, cool.
70s Mood, cool.
Why don't they make movies like this anymore?
All we get are Dwayne Johnson crap when we know that even Dwayne Johnson deserves better.
Also Harry's Fantasy Asian Neighbor, Sunny - Very Cool And Sexy.
that was another time and these great directors passed away. 😢
A man that won’t pull his gun when needed is limited dead man.
those classic Clint stair downs at 00:54.
These days you couldn't make a movie with 1% of the cool on display in this scene. Hell you couldn't even pitch the screenplay!
10 years later at it's worse...much much worse.
"Ricca, Nat Weinstein, his attorney, James Cantina the driver..."
"What about the bodyguard?"
"We're checking it out now, Lieutenant."
I always wanted to get one of those police spec' Ford LTDs, they look cool...
Yeah you could probably get one if you have the cash but I'm guessing they probably cost a fortune these days.
Joey Brooks I did I bought a nice 1972 LTD
Kind of hard to find at this point, along with everything else from that era.
Those boats.
Galaxie
We need some Dirty Harry Callahans in Minneapolis in 2022
The whole country. And some good some movies like this again.
i never stopped at that point although i could feel i should have.i'm paying the price for that now
This movie is kick ass. Clint rules!
Holbrook versus Eastwood. good matchup.
Holbrook RIP
Hal said years later he was pleased to be in a Clint Eastwood movie because it meant a wider audience for him as an actor
Growing up in London in the 70's, they always showed flicks with Clint, Bronson and McQueen. My fav tough guys. Later on I got into Mitchum and Marvin. I still say pound for pound, Bronson is the baddest. And I absolutely adore CLint. As people, perhaps he and Steve were quite not the best of folk.
Chuck in Hard Times
I wish I could visit 70s
The '70's were cool man. My teenage years. Living in Southern California. The only bad thing was the smog.
@@jamesmurray3128 spent my 70s in Chicago loved it
It was a dirty time, but more pure...no homeless zombies and meth heads roaming and crapping on the streets,
Harry was telling his new partner about his previous one who is now teaching college,
Former detective Chico Gonzalez. From the first "Dirty Harry" movie.
@XiCron2000 1972 ford galaxie 500. he also drove a 72 LTD convertible in this movie.
I learned to drive on a 1970. The body lines were the same but the grill and taillights changed by then.
Thats right actually...in this one for instance Briggs generally dominates Callaghan in the scenes they are in together and the viewer is never in doubt of which one of them is senior.
But Callaghan undermines him perfectly without open insubordination in his delivery of the line, "You're a good man, Lieutenant. A good man's always knows his limitations."
Me too brother, me too.
Agreed-I said this a long time ago.Hal steals it!
He was great in The Pueblo
I like it when the forensics man tells Briggs.... it looks like they were killed with a magnum. how the hell does he know it was before performing an autopsy
They study forensics of weapons for a living.
Probably the size of the hole at the back?
Its called setting the stage for the plot
Harry is one cool cat.
A good man always knows his limitations
It's actually "A good man always knows his limitations" Homeboy should watch his own clip...
The best dirty Harry movies were the first 3
Indeed
Clint Eastwood has the most sexiest hair, shade glass, and no actors can match his looks
Rather surprisingly, at least you are a woman; today, is typically men who make such comments. :)
Close range with a 44. That's some wicked shit.
@SheriffTankStoner thanks for the info
Is it possible that the murder in this scene was the work of the Terminator?
People tried to tell that to Stockton Rush. Now he and his four passengers are are scattered on the bottom of the Atlantic.
Nice movie to watch.
Harry puts his bare hands right on the car during a homicide investigation lol.
In a one on one situation, this a complete mismatch between Lieutenant Briggs and Inspector Callahan. Not just physically, but mentally as well.
Our man Clint
hal halbrooks in the new lincon film ironic as hes played lincon himself brilliant actor.
Probably not so much. He'd do senators in if the duty called for it.
After you chow down on a greasy burger /w all the trimmings and triple O sauce ,...its time to change the shocks on the squad car Harry !
Some BARELY concealed contempt!
🤣
Love those old fords
@twilightzoneseinfeld - I don't know about that.
Limit, gated spooky torch
Seeing what? LOL
I never got to see enough of these . . But I do know how "a man's got to know his limitations" is going to finish this one. Dang I hate those damn clips that show the end of movies. I don't watch'em any more.
@jasonwheel they are sorta close in age.
Never took his gun out of the holster what was he a meter maid
I recognize the other car from: "The Streets of San Francisco".
Not much.
What's that car he's driving?
Someone should put up the shootout with the store robbers.
“Looks like they were killed with a magnum”
What’s that mean? Kinda vague.
.357, 44 ?
1:31
Very cool film
The LT has a death squad out on the streets but gives Harry a bad time for taking out bad men buy the books.
And Harry's car good too.
Congratulations best wishes well Done
Never worried about things growing up cause he's down thhe street at Alison lane
Yeah, that´s why Melkor and Sauron always won, right?

Wow 12 years

Seatbelts not necessary in those days?
Hell no. When did seatbelt laws come into play? 1984 in NY. The first state to have the law.
Nobody followed it for a few years. It wasn't really enforced at all.
They had lap belts, if you wanted em
oooh shut down
Briggs is guilty as hell's! And jealous as hell's as we'll

One of histories worst jobs, Harry's partner.

Four dead bodies and still cleaner than a modern San Francisco street.
IT IS TILAPIA .... a bottom fish with a few ills ..... IT IS SOLD EVERYWHERE ..... without such warning. Go with SALMON or TUNA, sardines are fine but, not a dinner entree.
SBS 6 ey
I liked the Dirty Harry films a lot,but I wouldn't have been his partner for a million dollars. Because they always die at the end of the movie.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
trust me they weren't that great.
Clint is so badass, lol not even funny.
