  • One of the most common questions I get as an editor is how someone can edit their podcast for free. Lots of software out there either costs money or is tricky to use, but if you are an Apple user, GarageBand is a free, easy way to edit audio.
In this video, I'll be giving a basic tutorial for anybody wanting to learn how to use GarageBand. If you're wanting to know how to edit, how to add an intro or outro, how to add music, how to fade in or out, some best GarageBand tips, or you're just wanting to get some general editing tips (that apply to any software!), this is the video for you!

Hi Cody. Thanks for this video. I've been trying to set up and record a podcast for a couple of months using Garage Band. The one problem I kept running into with other videos was that it was either just for music, or not the current version of Garage Band. Thank you for making this clear and newbie relatable video.

Thank you for this! In the first 6 minutes I learned what a lot of other GB for podcasts tutorials where not teaching! I posted my first podcast without all of these shortcuts and it was frustrating. This would’ve saved me a lot of time. Just the simple zooming in and out and the placing the play head specifically was invaluable!

Mate, your style of teaching is very easy to follow... I'm new to podcasting and have been using a Rodecaster Pro just for me, but with guests coming on in the future I want to use Garageband but it's pretty intimidating for a noob, so this video is gonna be my go-to lesson! So easy to follow, easy to understand etc. Cheers mate, keep it up!

I'd been splitting left and then splitting right and then deleting the clip in the middle. Didn't know about the double-click :D ! Thanks for sharing!

You're the real deal. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. I was able to edit my entire first podcast -intro-outro-everything because of you. You're awesome. New sub here, Cody! I've tried garage band over and over again over the years but most tutorials still leave out seemingly small details that are actually HUGE if you don't know what you're doing. This was perfect! Are you related to the Crabb Family of Tennessee? Gospel group?
