  • Today we’re down in the South Carolina low country fishing the flood tide for some tailing redfish. Flood tides, also known as king tides, are extreme high tides that only happen during certain parts of the year anf they allow you to get up into and pull through the tall grass. Though it was a hot day, I was still able to get a nice fish and make it a successful inshore fishing trip.

      Can’t say I’m a master when it comes to sheep’s, but you can never go wrong with low tide, fiddler crabs, and dock pylons

    so how do you know when a flood tide is coming? can they be predicted weeks in advance?

    • @augshogs
      @augshogs  Před 2 měsíci

      What I do is normally I look up the tides in my area, and then if you look at a monthly view, find the tides that are about .5 to 1 ft larger than normal (normally in Charleston anything above 6 ft will be decent). These are predicted well in advance, so normally you know the time and max height going into it.

      There’s a few by Sullivans Island that you can see if you look at google maps. I’d start with those and fish the creeks and docks nearby, maybe throw an assortment of cut bait, shrimp, and artificial.
