If you know how to drape ur saree properly you don't need to wear an overly fitted peticoat to look slim. Also in Indian functions we very often have to sit down on the floor for rituals and it's uncomfortable to sit in a tight peticoat.
True..i never felt discomfort in regular peticoat..it's so easy to seat in it and relax ur legs.. Fitted peticoat..will it be possible to seat comfortably..it just a glamor for figure and all

Those don't make you look bulky. Wrap the saree snugly and tada! Only works if you're slim though. Those shapewear petticoats are hard to tuck saree in and keep them in their place (because heels and saree means less saree to tuck in and the saree keeps slipping out from behind)
You can wear benarasi saree, kanjivaram saree, dhakai jamdani or tant saree they are perfect for extremely slim body. And avoid Georgette saree or silk sarees or satin sarees.
