  • Does your collection feel like it could be a bit more … interesting? If the contents of your watch roll or safe or sock drawer-or wherever you keep your watches-is looking a little dull, a little sad, perhaps even a little monochromatic, maybe you need something in there to give it a bit more punch. Well, how about this then, the Piaget Polo Skeleton in-wait for it-blue. Here are three things that make it a much-needed breath of fresh air.

    Watches have never been more exciting, and this Piaget is one of the most beautiful watches ever produced by any measure. What is boring is the culture of watch acquisionists and hypists rather than collectors and appreciationists. Excellent review and video as always.

      Indeed. I like Rolex just fine, and if their asking price were in the same neighborhood as their Omega equivalents, I would probably have a couple or more in the collection - for what sub goes for these days I could get a hold of a Glahuette Original, a Zenith, a Piaget Polo s, a Grand Seiko, or maybe even an entry level A. Lange - no contest, the sub really doesn’t stand out to me given its value proposition.

      They don't have to be. For an open heart check the "Tissot Tradition Powermatic 80 Open Heart" (~750 new). For a full skeletonized watch, Tissot also has the "T Complication Squelette mechanical" (~1.8k). These types of watches are a niche, so there will always be a markup to pay on these. Try looking at used ones on chrono24.

  • @b3talah
    @b3talah Před 3 lety +8

    The thing I don’t like about skeletonized movements is that they’re often designed to look overly complicated. This one brings attention to the actual mechanism of the watch. This. I like this.

    • @TheRausing1
      @TheRausing1 Před 3 lety +1

      Totally agree. You look at a Richard Mille, and the movement architecture is insanely complex just for the sake of it. This watch is just fascinating to look at, like a true cross-section of a luxury watch.

    • @BabyJesus66
      @BabyJesus66 Před 3 lety

      I love almost all skeleton watches because I really only like watches because of the movement. So being able to see the movement working is ideal to me. That being said, I agree on the ones being complicated just to be complicated looking aren't as good as the ones made to simply show off the movement at work.
      My favorites are the ones with as much metal removed as possible where you mostly just see the jewels and gears. Not the ones with overly complicated designs just to look "cool".

  • @timecheckwatch-channel5421
