As someone else pointed out, there's a *second* voice speaking amidst Magolor's cries for help. At 3:25, isolating the audio will get you a different, feminine voice saying "…呼んだ？" ("...did you call me?"). That MIGHT just be the Lor Starcutter.
The thing i like about his screams is that it’s not just the way he talks like when you interact with him in magoland. It’s actual japanese characters and speech.
I like the fact that you can sometimes hear Magolor’s voice during the fight. It feels like he regrets all he’s done and is trying to apologize to Kirby, but it might be too late

There are deadass parts where I SWEAR it sounds like Magolor is saying “kirby… help!” This goes so fucking crazy hard. On top of Magolor Soul’s second phase losing Magolor’s two eyes, hearing his voice echo in the background just completes this entire boss sequence. So fuckjng good
Given that zero and the master crown were both revealed to have a connection to void(In "kirby star allies") is it possible that zero used this same connection to manifest his remaining essence within the crown?
@@monitorlizardkid8253 Since Zero is born from Void influenced by negative emotions and the Master Crown was made by the ancients who studied and worshipped Void, I assume the crown has some form of Void in it which, after being influenced by the dark desires of all previous owners of the crown + Magolor's desire for universal domination, the built in negativity formed a new Zero, Zero3 perhaps, which is what we fight here
The fact they actually added Magolor’s desperate cries for help to Kirby to end his pain and suffering is enough to make me tear up, give me the chills, and shake a little. This game has really changed the way I see him as a whole and it has made me feel a lot more sorry that he had to suffer so much.
When I was young I only thought of him as an npc. But when star allies came around I was shocked to see that guy was around. (I didn't play dream collection or any recent games that he showed up) so I added on my team and I got into the kirby lore and now HOLY SHIT I grew a huge appreciation to the guy

(My translation, while trying to be as literal as possible) --- Continuing the trend from Forgotten Land, the English localization for this game seems WAY more meticulous and accurate compared to past Kirby games, so there are only a couple of minor differences I see between the two. First, the JP version doesn't spell out exactly /what/ Magolor was feeling upon seeing Kirby's lack of reaction, while the English opts for a direct approach ("truly insulting"). Secondly, the JP version has a "That's enough/I've had enough" moment that is lacking in the English version, which makes Magolor sound a bit more resigned (though I suppose the "Well, let's see..." has a similar effect in English). Thirdly, you'll note that Magolor calls Kirby his ""full name"" in the JP version. It's understandable why the localization dropped this, because "Kirby of the Stars" sounds incredibly clunky in English, but in the Japanese games, characters have a tendency to call Kirby by this title when they're being sincere or when shit's about to hit the fan (for example, Susie goes from calling Kirby "pink native" the whole game to "Kirby of the Stars" when she begs him to stop Star Dream). And lastly, it may just be my opinion, but the last line "to toy with" sounds a shade more manipulative in English than it does in the Japanese version, where it simply means to tease/joke/prank/etc. However, I can see why the localization team went with that phrasing, since it does suit Magolor quite well to frame his jokes sinisterly (remember when he joked about taking over the Dream Kingdom in Kirby Clash?). It just has the unfortunate side effect of making it sound like Magolor's trying to get free so he can stab Kirby in the back immediately, which isn't the case! He just wants to have fun with his friend again :) If you've read this far, stop procrastinating!!

I didn't think they could make Magolor Soul any more menacing, but now his second phase is an entirely new fight in a sense. New attacks, no more signs of Magolors true eyes. Just the dark matter exists.

I thought I was going crazy hearing voices in the background halfway through the fight, and then I had the thought, and thought no way they’d go THAT far for Kirby games. In the Jukebox I heard nothing, but sure enough. This franchise just keeps getting darker it’s insane.

It's a reused theme, but oh my god this was reused PERFECTLY. This theme covers both of the urgency and triumph of CROWNED, and the hectic pace and subtle tragedy of Under My Control/Welcome Your New Overlord to piece together a truly climatic final boss theme. The previous themes better suited Magolor's lust for power and internal struggle respectively, but this one really does feel like it belongs to a battle that determines the fate of the universe - and it's the perfect closeout to a great game made even better. The instruments are a bit different as well! I listened to the Star Allies one for comparison and there's WAY more choir in this one; it sounds much more dramatic overall.

Man... 2011, back when this game was fresh, I remember struggling through the base game as a dumb 11 year old. I remember the elation when I finally beat Magolor for the first time... only to be immediately shut down by the reveal of his second phase. And 12 years later, he does it again in arguably the hardest True Arena in the series. Magolor really is something special huh?
reusing the star allies song was already unexpected for me but when the choir and screaming got added in my jaw dropped even further. this remake is truly something special
First, Haltman just SCREAMING in pain, second, the Three Mage Sisters screaming in agony in Hyness's second phase when they transform into a Friend Circle, and third, Magolor desperately CRYING for Kirby's help.
We also had Leongar screaming in pain when controlled by Fecto Forgo and animal sounds crying in pain in Fecto Forgo's boss theme. Those are implied however. They aren't confirmed to be true.
I always thought it was strange that the Magolor Epilogue opening shows Magolor Soul being defeated, despite only completing the original story to unlock it.

i just realized. he spits out the apple *because he was the shopkeeper for the apples.* thats dark as hell. basically, its saying that the master crown has taken him over COMPLETELY. that he has nothing left; no heart, no soul, no emotions, no *nothing.* thats genuinely morbid, like SUPER morbid. even the background reflects this. it goes from a beautiful blue world with nice, reflective hexagonal platforms to purple darkness, giant black dots floating around everywhere, reflecting how he's lost everything, how everything has *floated away from him.* its truly the most morbid way to emphasize how magalor has fallen, how hes lost his entire life, how hes lost all of his hope, his feelings, form, being, and *friends.* he even cries for help in the background, seemingly suffocating, losing his soul, losing against *IT.* he has lost *EVERYTHING,* and the only thing you can do..? *send IT to HELL, and take magalor with it...* rest in peace arena magalor, at least your official counterparts ending was happier...
Magolor begging for help in the background is the creepiest thing I've heard in a Kirby close to Haltmann screaming in pain during Star Dream Soul OS final phase
The fact that the description changes in the second phase is so interesting yet heartbreaking. The fact that the first phase is the narrator telling Kirby, “Take his hand and save a new friend!” before transitioning to “Magolor’s” perspective taunting Kirby is terrifying. It shows that as soon as Magolor spits the apple out before the second phase, that was the only hope that Kirby had left to save him, and its too late now. The Master Crown had pretty much taken full control of Magolor at this point, and the game indirectly tells us that he’s late to save. Heck, you can even hear Magolor faintly crying for help, similarly to Haltmann’s screams in Robobot’s true arena. Considering this is Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, this could be a bad ending in a sort of way if you compare it to Kirby’s Dreamland 3 or Kirby 64. This whole true final boss is just masterfully done!
I do believe this is a kind of bad ending scenario by the fact that at the end of the fight, we don't free Magolor. He along with the Master Crown gets thrown into Another Dimension. You could say we didn't even really defeat the crown
supposedly in the original wii version of the game there was a scrapped plan for a ‘bad’ ending where if you didn’t collect all the energy spheres at the end of the final boss, magolor wouldn’t turn back to normal or something like that. i guess in a way the true arena fight here is HAL actually using that idea? edit-a quote about the scrapped end from a miiverse post by kumazaki that was reposted on tumblr: “Magolor takes the Master Crown from Kirby and friends, planning to use its limitless power to seize control of the entire universe. But when Kirby hits him with the Ultra Sword, the crown goes wild and takes control of Magolor instead. When Magolor is finally defeated, the crown crumbles, releasing him unharmed. He then turns into light and vanishes. At first we envisioned this as a bonus scene that would only appear if the player had collected all special items. The memories really came flooding back harder than ever when this new rendition started playing in the true arena. I pretty much started off with Super Star Ultra when I saw someone playing it in a party. I put that game on my Christmas list, and before I knew it, I got to experience Kirby for the first time. I remember the marketing that came around for Return to Dreamland a little later and although I wanted it so badly, I never got to play Return to Dreamland when it first came out back then due to it being so incredibly hard to find (Return to Dreamland was VERY popular in it's release) and eventually I started to fall out of love when I focused on other games like anyone would with a new hyperfixation. Then it was the start of high school when I got hooked on playing Kirby again. I got back in with Triple Deluxe on the 3DS and I loved the series again to the point where I went to my bucket list and bought Return to Dreamland off of ebay and played it on my WiiU. I remember staying up late playing it, and within a week, I had 100% the game. And so I remained close as a fan of Kirby. The 3DS spinoffs came along, and I beat them all. Planet Robobot came along, and I beat that. More 3DS spinoffs were beaten. I got a switch around the time when wave 1 of Star Allies came out and had my nostalgia treated. Waves 2 and 3 did the same, especially 3 since it had Magolor, and reminded me of my love for Return to Dreamland. Super Kirby Clash was around, and I beat that. Kirby Fighters 2 was fun to main Magolor in. Forgotten Land came around and blew my mind with what it had done for innovating. When Return to Dreamland Deluxe was announced, I initially was not planning on buying it because I already had the original, and I kinda looked at it as introducing this fantastic game I once wanted so badly to a new generation. But then Magolor Epilogue sealed the deal for me, given I loved Kirby lore, but I especially was a Magolor fan, so I got it for that. Had so much fun reliving those memories of the past while making new memories as well with Magolor Epilogue and Merry Magoland. But I guess the cherry on top of this entire experience was reaching Magolor Soul once again in the true arena after learning the new bosses and just having this new rendition just take me back in time from the start of my hyperfixation with Kirby to now. The whole time, I was on a call with a friend and just losing my mind to how the Magolor Soul fight was just full of unexpected surprises again as I told everything to my friend as she listened. Even though I won the fight on my first try just from being mostly familiar with Magolor Soul's old moves, but amplified, I just wished for a redo button to do that whole fight over and over again. I loved it so much, and I can say that Return to Dreamland just continues to live on as such a fantastic game since its arrival and will be fantastic in the minds of newcomers for years to come. TLDR: The new final battle with Magolor Soul and the new rendition of Magolor's theme in Star Allies made my entire history with the Kirby series flash in front of my eyes. And it makes me want to cry.
Magolor doesn’t seem like the type of person to be wallowing in despair, instead he sounds like he’s just trying to add some light in an otherwise extremely terrifying experience He also doesn’t really have the right to beg Kirby for help after betraying him and nearly take over the universe
A popular belief I also share is that by toying with Kirby, Magolor, not the crown, meant exactly that but in a more light hearted “lul I did a prank” sort of way, like how trowing a bucket of water at someone is a lot more like hearted than pushing them into a volcano
Went into this fight spoiled that he would have a second phase, but not that he'd already start off with buffed attacks. Almost full-screen laser, double black hole, portal laser hell, spiked vines all over the place... And then phase 2 started and blew me away. Something as simple as removing his "real" eyes somehow working so perfectly, the way he used Sand and especially Mecha, the pause description, his cries for help in the background, all with my favourite song in the entire series playing throughout the fight. 100/10 final boss, thank you HAL.
This just sounds amazing and hits perfect, you can hear magolor's voice feeling sorry and pleaing to kirby to stop him and the master crown, it's amazing how they remade this music

By hearing magolor voice in the background while the master crown took full control of magolor’s body. They literally took possession to a whole new level. Now kirby has to free his soul.
About the screaming, there's a theory that it isn't Magolor. In the pause menu, Magolor just tells Kirby to destroy the Crown, sounding mostly nonchalant and casual about it. The theory goes that the Crown is using Magolor's voice to trick the quartet into going easier or stopping their attacks.

With one powerful swing, the Monstrous form of the trickster mage is defeated... or.. it *should* be. Instead, it granted a helpful boon, before reawakening, the blank stare of a friend having vanished, leaving only a malevolent gaze of malice. As a choir of former rulers turned pawns flitter on the wind, for the first time you hear his cries for help, flickering like the ember of a burnt out fireplace. *What have we destroyed?*
There I was. The console was at 5% battery, and I was back to the point I never thought I’d reach because I deleted my save by accident. It truly was the final battle in the game. By winning, not only would I have freed Magalor and defeated the Master Crown, but I would have freed myself, and have beaten my own demons. In all seriousness, that mentality I had made the fight matter that much more to me than it should and (although it was painful) made it one of my favorite boss fights ever.
God... Hearing Magolor's voice clips playing in the background of the fight was the biggest punch in the gut I've ever experienced. I may have lost my spark with Kirby nowadays, but i just know that somewhere, somewhen, seven year old me is smiling in pride. She would've loved this.
Crazy fan here! Here's a cool detail. We all know that you can hear screaming in the background. One of the pause screens, as per modern Kirby tradition is written from Magolor's perspective. However, he doesn't seem too torn up about being possessed, instead talking about how annoying it is to have to go to Kirby for help. Sort of implies that Magolor's not quite the one screaming here, but the Crown is. Maybe trying to trick Kirby into going easy on it? Neat stuff!
Makes sense, it's kinda like the Crown is manipulating you to stop attacking by mimicking your friend... which is counterproductive since the crown keeps attacking you anyway. 💀
I think you can hear both "Kaabii Tasukete" and "Help kirby!" in the song. kaabii tasukete being japanese for "HELP ME KIRBY". which makes me wonder if any other languages are in the song
A bit weird how this occurs after you've already completed Magolor's redemption path... I assume this entire phase was a "What-if?" scenario where Magolor wasn't so lucky from escaping the Crown's grasp, and so you were forced to kill him off much like you did with Sectonia and Haltmann despite his numerous pleas for help. Meaning there's at least one (if not more) alternate realities where we weren't able to save our Magolor. 😔
The moment I actually realized what I was hearing was the first time a Kirby game actually gave me an "Oh shit" moment, and I played Planet Robobot! Hearing what's left of Haltmann cry out in pain as Star Dream is struck is one thing... but hearing Magolor's desperate cries for help as Kirby fights against the form of his sins, goddamn. At least we know (spoiler warning) Magolor survives to achieve his redemtion be destroying the remains of the Master Crown in another dimension.

alrighty so: the phase 2 description is Master Crown taunting Kirby as if Mags was talking to him, but we can hear his sobbing and "Kirby, help!" which means he is suffering and thats just Master Crown taunting and making fun of his agony + plus makes him feel even more sad for what he has done to Kirby, trying to copy how he would most likely taunt..

I remember playing the true arena when I was like 6 back in the original rtdl and couldn’t get pass it till I was like 8. Now returning game and now beating the TRUE magolor soul. And seeing that lore.. that- that hurt man. Especially since magolor is one of my FAVORITE characters. So seeing him in pain and suffering even AFTER the epilogue, just hurt a lot. Magolor I hope your ok. And truly.. *you can toy with us again..*

Hearing Magolor's cries for help for the first time when playing through this was MORBID as all hell. I already felt bad for Magolor because of him searching for this crown only for it to turn out to be a demonic entity that took control of him. Now imagine begging for your friend to put you out of your misery and possibly kill you. Come to think of it, upon beating the true arena we don't see Magolor re-formed. We see the master crown's manifestation of his soul disappearing into a portal as it evaporates. I'd imagine this is a sorta "bad ending" where the master crown completely consumes him. I am very happy for Magolor for being able to escape and survive but seeing this possibility makes me feel that he is DAMN lucky to survive. Especially considering other Kirby characters that weren't so lucky when given a great deal of power at the cost of their own sanity, soul, or mind.
I love how the music is so empowering it practically drowns out Magolor's cries half of the time, almost like (despite how urgent the soundtrack sounds, and its moments of brief optimism) whatever force is at play is actively trying to silence him in every way possible, and make you forget that the husk of a boss that is Magolor Soul had someone in there to help it become what it is: Magolor himself
On a less serious note, even the the being capable of absorbing one so bad that their body, mind, and soul eventually cave into the darkness cannot overpower getting sand kicked into their eyes or whirlwinded (Sand and Tornado are busted as hell. Dark Matter could never set foot on a beach, desert, or in a windy situation ever again)
Oh! Since you guys are talking about Magolor crying for help, I've noticed a peculiar trend that may be nightmare fuel. Starting with Planet Robobot, main series Kirby Games (including remakes) have a character crying out in pain as they're forced to suffer against their will in boss fights. Also, all of these boss fights are late in the game or final bosses. Here's all of them I could find. 1. Kirby Planet Robobot - In the final phase of Star Dream Soul OS in the True Arena, Haltmann screams in pain whenever you attack Star Dream Soul OS's pillars. This is because his soul is trapped inside of it. 2. Kirby Star Allies - The mages are drained of their life force by Hyness. They are heard crying out in pain when he uses the Friend Circle attack. 3. Kirby and the Forgotten Land - While not confirmed, Leongar looks like he's in pain when controlled by Fecto Forgo in the former's boss fights. It has been pointed out that his laser attack (which brings to mind vomiting) and screams make him look like he's in agony. This implies that Fecto Forgo's control is hurting him and he can't do anything about it. There's also another instance of this in Forgotten Land. In Fecto Forgo's boss fight theme, you can hear animals howling in what appears to be pain. It looks like being part of an amalgamate hurts too! 4. Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe - This is the one from this video. Not even it being a remake before this trend can stop it. In the True Arena, the second phase of Magolor Soul has him crying out for help as he's being controlled by the Master Crown. I wonder if the next main series Kirby Game will break this trend or not? Will it be another late game boss if it does carry on? We have to wait and find out!

when I first heard this in the true arena I went BATSHIT INSANE. im the #1 star Allies defender so you can imagine how feral I went when I heard this and he started the fight with a DOUBLE LASER and the second phase made me audibly scream and oh my god it’s just perfect in every way
Finally got around to completing EX Mode and decided to do the True Arena as well. Made it here after a few tries, the new patterns caught me off guard and I ended up losing my copy ability and having my health brought down to 1 hit. Managed to get Tornado from the enemies he spawned, and survived purely from the i-frames. I will never call Tornado a terrible ability again. This has gotta be the most brutal True Arena yet
It seems like most people have the idea of not using healing items, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't beat him without healing. Sounds like you did it though, congratulations!
Now just hear me what if Magolor's defeat in the Ex Mode put him through a spiritual journey in his epilogue and he got the crown at the end after defeating the Tree, fully corrupting him and being Magolor Soul but even stronger.

Whe we see the pause description of this combat, we can now mostly hear his screams as "Urgh! It is annoying. Hurry up Kirby and destroy this thing."
The fact they actually added Magolor’s desperate cries for help to Kirby to end his pain and suffering is enough to make me tear up, give me the chills, and shake a little. This game has really changed the way I see him as a whole and it has made me feel a lot more sorry that he had to suffer so much.

When I was young I only thought of him as an npc. But when star allies came around I was shocked to see that guy was around. (I didn't play dream collection or any recent games that he showed up) so I added on my team and I got into the kirby lore and now HOLY SHIT I grew a huge appreciation to the guy

Continuing the trend from Forgotten Land, the English localization for this game seems WAY more meticulous and accurate compared to past Kirby games, so there are only a couple of minor differences I see between the two.
First, the JP version doesn't spell out exactly /what/ Magolor was feeling upon seeing Kirby's lack of reaction, while the English opts for a direct approach ("truly insulting"). Secondly, the JP version has a "That's enough/I've had enough" moment that is lacking in the English version, which makes Magolor sound a bit more resigned (though I suppose the "Well, let's see..." has a similar effect in English).
Thirdly, you'll note that Magolor calls Kirby his ""full name"" in the JP version. It's understandable why the localization dropped this, because "Kirby of the Stars" sounds incredibly clunky in English, but in the Japanese games, characters have a tendency to call Kirby by this title when they're being sincere or when shit's about to hit the fan (for example, Susie goes from calling Kirby "pink native" the whole game to "Kirby of the Stars" when she begs him to stop Star Dream).
And lastly, it may just be my opinion, but the last line "to toy with" sounds a shade more manipulative in English than it does in the Japanese version, where it simply means to tease/joke/prank/etc. However, I can see why the localization team went with that phrasing, since it does suit Magolor quite well to frame his jokes sinisterly (remember when he joked about taking over the Dream Kingdom in Kirby Clash?). It just has the unfortunate side effect of making it sound like Magolor's trying to get free so he can stab Kirby in the back immediately, which isn't the case! He just wants to have fun with his friend again :)

It's a reused theme, but oh my god this was reused PERFECTLY.
This theme covers both of the urgency and triumph of CROWNED, and the hectic pace and subtle tragedy of Under My Control/Welcome Your New Overlord to piece together a truly climatic final boss theme.
The previous themes better suited Magolor's lust for power and internal struggle respectively, but this one really does feel like it belongs to a battle that determines the fate of the universe - and it's the perfect closeout to a great game made even better.

2011, back when this game was fresh, I remember struggling through the base game as a dumb 11 year old. I remember the elation when I finally beat Magolor for the first time... only to be immediately shut down by the reveal of his second phase.
And 12 years later, he does it again in arguably the hardest True Arena in the series.

Magolor begging for help in the background is the creepiest thing I've heard in a Kirby close to Haltmann screaming in pain during Star Dream Soul OS final phase
The fact that the description changes in the second phase is so interesting yet heartbreaking. The fact that the first phase is the narrator telling Kirby, “Take his hand and save a new friend!” before transitioning to “Magolor’s” perspective taunting Kirby is terrifying. It shows that as soon as Magolor spits the apple out before the second phase, that was the only hope that Kirby had left to save him, and its too late now. The Master Crown had pretty much taken full control of Magolor at this point, and the game indirectly tells us that he’s late to save. Heck, you can even hear Magolor faintly crying for help, similarly to Haltmann’s screams in Robobot’s true arena. Considering this is Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, this could be a bad ending in a sort of way if you compare it to Kirby’s Dreamland 3 or Kirby 64. This whole true final boss is just masterfully done!
I do believe this is a kind of bad ending scenario by the fact that at the end of the fight, we don't free Magolor. He along with the Master Crown gets thrown into Another Dimension. You could say we didn't even really defeat the crown
supposedly in the original wii version of the game there was a scrapped plan for a ‘bad’ ending where if you didn’t collect all the energy spheres at the end of the final boss, magolor wouldn’t turn back to normal or something like that. i guess in a way the true arena fight here is HAL actually using that idea?

The memories really came flooding back harder than ever when this new rendition started playing in the true arena. I pretty much started off with Super Star Ultra when I saw someone playing it in a party. I put that game on my Christmas list, and before I knew it, I got to experience Kirby for the first time. I remember the marketing that came around for Return to Dreamland a little later and although I wanted it so badly, I never got to play Return to Dreamland when it first came out back then due to it being so incredibly hard to find (Return to Dreamland was VERY popular in it's release) and eventually I started to fall out of love when I focused on other games like anyone would with a new hyperfixation. Then it was the start of high school when I got hooked on playing Kirby again. I got back in with Triple Deluxe on the 3DS and I loved the series again to the point where I went to my bucket list and bought Return to Dreamland off of ebay and played it on my WiiU. I remember staying up late playing it, and within a week, I had 100% the game. And so I remained close as a fan of Kirby. The 3DS spinoffs came along, and I beat them all. Planet Robobot came along, and I beat that. More 3DS spinoffs were beaten. I got a switch around the time when wave 1 of Star Allies came out and had my nostalgia treated. Waves 2 and 3 did the same, especially 3 since it had Magolor, and reminded me of my love for Return to Dreamland. Super Kirby Clash was around, and I beat that. Kirby Fighters 2 was fun to main Magolor in. Forgotten Land came around and blew my mind with what it had done for innovating. When Return to Dreamland Deluxe was announced, I initially was not planning on buying it because I already had the original, and I kinda looked at it as introducing this fantastic game I once wanted so badly to a new generation. But then Magolor Epilogue sealed the deal for me, given I loved Kirby lore, but I especially was a Magolor fan, so I got it for that. Had so much fun reliving those memories of the past while making new memories as well with Magolor Epilogue and Merry Magoland. But I guess the cherry on top of this entire experience was reaching Magolor Soul once again in the true arena after learning the new bosses and just having this new rendition just take me back in time from the start of my hyperfixation with Kirby to now. The whole time, I was on a call with a friend and just losing my mind to how the Magolor Soul fight was just full of unexpected surprises again as I told everything to my friend as she listened. Even though I won the fight on my first try just from being mostly familiar with Magolor Soul's old moves, but amplified, I just wished for a redo button to do that whole fight over and over again. I loved it so much, and I can say that Return to Dreamland just continues to live on as such a fantastic game since its arrival and will be fantastic in the minds of newcomers for years to come.
TLDR: The new final battle with Magolor Soul and the new rendition of Magolor's theme in Star Allies made my entire history with the Kirby series flash in front of my eyes. And it makes me want to cry.

A popular belief I also share is that by toying with Kirby, Magolor, not the crown, meant exactly that but in a more light hearted “lul I did a prank” sort of way, like how trowing a bucket of water at someone is a lot more like hearted than pushing them into a volcano

I love the fact that they used the theme from Star Allies, but added a bit more to it that it's not just the same song again.
Went into this fight spoiled that he would have a second phase, but not that he'd already start off with buffed attacks.
Almost full-screen laser, double black hole, portal laser hell, spiked vines all over the place... And then phase 2 started and blew me away. Something as simple as removing his "real" eyes somehow working so perfectly, the way he used Sand and especially Mecha, the pause description, his cries for help in the background, all with my favourite song in the entire series playing throughout the fight.
100/10 final boss, thank you HAL.

About the screaming, there's a theory that it isn't Magolor. In the pause menu, Magolor just tells Kirby to destroy the Crown, sounding mostly nonchalant and casual about it. The theory goes that the Crown is using Magolor's voice to trick the quartet into going easier or stopping their attacks.
Great, now I can’t tell what’s worse, trying to help someone in a type of purgatory, or the fact that the thing responsible has learned how to manipulate others using someone else.
With one powerful swing, the Monstrous form of the trickster mage is defeated... or.. it *should* be.
Instead, it granted a helpful boon, before reawakening, the blank stare of a friend having vanished, leaving only a malevolent gaze of malice.
As a choir of former rulers turned pawns flitter on the wind, for the first time you hear his cries for help, flickering like the ember of a burnt out fireplace.

Damn the Green Green hits possibly the hardest in this theme, probably only second to Voids theme.
There I was.
The console was at 5% battery, and I was back to the point I never thought I’d reach because I deleted my save by accident.
It truly was the final battle in the game.
By winning, not only would I have freed Magalor and defeated the Master Crown, but I would have freed myself, and have beaten my own demons.
In all seriousness, that mentality I had made the fight matter that much more to me than it should and (although it was painful) made it one of my favorite boss fights ever.

God... Hearing Magolor's voice clips playing in the background of the fight was the biggest punch in the gut I've ever experienced. I may have lost my spark with Kirby nowadays, but i just know that somewhere, somewhen, seven year old me is smiling in pride. She would've loved this.
Crazy fan here! Here's a cool detail. We all know that you can hear screaming in the background. One of the pause screens, as per modern Kirby tradition is written from Magolor's perspective. However, he doesn't seem too torn up about being possessed, instead talking about how annoying it is to have to go to Kirby for help. Sort of implies that Magolor's not quite the one screaming here, but the Crown is. Maybe trying to trick Kirby into going easy on it? Neat stuff!
Makes sense, it's kinda like the Crown is manipulating you to stop attacking by mimicking your friend... which is counterproductive since the crown keeps attacking you anyway. 💀
I just beat the true arena, I knew I was hearing something in the background, but I didn't know what it was.
It almost feels like Magolor is calling out from the OST itself, trying to break free.
Imagine HAL asked Chuggaconroy to lend his Sinister Elmo voice as background...
I think you can hear both "Kaabii Tasukete" and "Help kirby!" in the song. kaabii tasukete being japanese for "HELP ME KIRBY". which makes me wonder if any other languages are in the song

A bit weird how this occurs after you've already completed Magolor's redemption path...
I assume this entire phase was a "What-if?" scenario where Magolor wasn't so lucky from escaping the Crown's grasp, and so you were forced to kill him off much like you did with Sectonia and Haltmann despite his numerous pleas for help. Meaning there's at least one (if not more) alternate realities where we weren't able to save our Magolor. 😔

The moment I actually realized what I was hearing was the first time a Kirby game actually gave me an "Oh shit" moment, and I played Planet Robobot! Hearing what's left of Haltmann cry out in pain as Star Dream is struck is one thing... but hearing Magolor's desperate cries for help as Kirby fights against the form of his sins, goddamn. At least we know (spoiler warning) Magolor survives to achieve his redemtion be destroying the remains of the Master Crown in another dimension.

This comes after the first Magolor EX, Doomers or Galacta and Master Crown fight. Giving me the sensation that the Epilogue is happening all when inside his mind was way too late.
I hope we get something like this if they remake the 3ds games, mostly an extra mode

alrighty so: the phase 2 description is Master Crown taunting Kirby as if Mags was talking to him, but we can hear his sobbing and "Kirby, help!" which means he is suffering and thats just Master Crown taunting and making fun of his agony + plus makes him feel even more sad for what he has done to Kirby, trying to copy how he would most likely taunt..
I dont think so. Star dream soul's pause description were the honest words of haltmann, so why would magolor's be different?

@@theidiotics2629 no, its the master crown, he is literally screaming for help in the phase 2 theme saying help me. why in the everliving fuck would he say something like that when his deathscream is titled free...me...kirby in the jukebox. he literally is suffering and master crown is an a**hole, who took over him to the point where in a last attempt magolor gives kirby an apple and his eyes dissapear, the desc says that the crown swallows the soul, he is basically already dead/ and his echoed cries are all that remains of him

I remember playing the true arena when I was like 6 back in the original rtdl and couldn’t get pass it till I was like 8. Now returning game and now beating the TRUE magolor soul. And seeing that lore.. that- that hurt man. Especially since magolor is one of my FAVORITE characters. So seeing him in pain and suffering even AFTER the epilogue, just hurt a lot. Magolor I hope your ok. And truly.. *you can toy with us again..*

Hearing Magolor's cries for help for the first time when playing through this was MORBID as all hell. I already felt bad for Magolor because of him searching for this crown only for it to turn out to be a demonic entity that took control of him. Now imagine begging for your friend to put you out of your misery and possibly kill you. Come to think of it, upon beating the true arena we don't see Magolor re-formed. We see the master crown's manifestation of his soul disappearing into a portal as it evaporates. I'd imagine this is a sorta "bad ending" where the master crown completely consumes him. I am very happy for Magolor for being able to escape and survive but seeing this possibility makes me feel that he is DAMN lucky to survive. Especially considering other Kirby characters that weren't so lucky when given a great deal of power at the cost of their own sanity, soul, or mind.
i like how the beginning sounds like CROWNED, but the rest of it's almost completely different. also this is way better than CROWNED so 10/10

I love how the music is so empowering it practically drowns out Magolor's cries half of the time, almost like (despite how urgent the soundtrack sounds, and its moments of brief optimism) whatever force is at play is actively trying to silence him in every way possible, and make you forget that the husk of a boss that is Magolor Soul had someone in there to help it become what it is: Magolor himself
On a less serious note, even the the being capable of absorbing one so bad that their body, mind, and soul eventually cave into the darkness cannot overpower getting sand kicked into their eyes or whirlwinded (Sand and Tornado are busted as hell. Dark Matter could never set foot on a beach, desert, or in a windy situation ever again)

Oh! Since you guys are talking about Magolor crying for help, I've noticed a peculiar trend that may be nightmare fuel. Starting with Planet Robobot, main series Kirby Games (including remakes) have a character crying out in pain as they're forced to suffer against their will in boss fights. Also, all of these boss fights are late in the game or final bosses. Here's all of them I could find.
1. Kirby Planet Robobot - In the final phase of Star Dream Soul OS in the True Arena, Haltmann screams in pain whenever you attack Star Dream Soul OS's pillars. This is because his soul is trapped inside of it.
2. Kirby Star Allies - The mages are drained of their life force by Hyness. They are heard crying out in pain when he uses the Friend Circle attack.
3. Kirby and the Forgotten Land - While not confirmed, Leongar looks like he's in pain when controlled by Fecto Forgo in the former's boss fights. It has been pointed out that his laser attack (which brings to mind vomiting) and screams make him look like he's in agony. This implies that Fecto Forgo's control is hurting him and he can't do anything about it. There's also another instance of this in Forgotten Land. In Fecto Forgo's boss fight theme, you can hear animals howling in what appears to be pain. It looks like being part of an amalgamate hurts too!
4. Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe - This is the one from this video. Not even it being a remake before this trend can stop it. In the True Arena, the second phase of Magolor Soul has him crying out for help as he's being controlled by the Master Crown.
I wonder if the next main series Kirby Game will break this trend or not? Will it be another late game boss if it does carry on? We have to wait and find out!

@@BlaizeTheDragon I think kirby amiibos give you better items, but anything else should still work. Also I didn’t even always know this, but you can actually pull up the magoland item menu whenever during the arena and store anything whenever.

when I first heard this in the true arena I went BATSHIT INSANE. im the #1 star Allies defender so you can imagine how feral I went when I heard this and he started the fight with a DOUBLE LASER and the second phase made me audibly scream and oh my god it’s just perfect in every way

Finally got around to completing EX Mode and decided to do the True Arena as well. Made it here after a few tries, the new patterns caught me off guard and I ended up losing my copy ability and having my health brought down to 1 hit. Managed to get Tornado from the enemies he spawned, and survived purely from the i-frames.
I will never call Tornado a terrible ability again.
This has gotta be the most brutal True Arena yet
