  • Artificial intelligence is now built into the Canon imagePROGRAF range of wide-format photographic printers making them easier than ever to use and produce great print results in minutes.
The New 44″ Canon PRO-4100 is a major advancement in the Canon Pro range. The eagerly awaited MKII of the Canon Pro 4100 now has AI built-in. Let the printer detect the type of paper loaded to take the guesswork out of what profile to use. When you load paper into the Pro 4100, it will now use state of the art Artificial Intelligence to analyse the paper loaded and recommend the most suitable profile for the paper. Less time configuring your printer for the paper means fewer reprints and waste and more time printing.
It will also detect the length, thickness, remaining paper and even automatically load and prepare your roll of media.

I love this printer, but the term AI is a stretch for what it is doing. Canon are getting a little loose with their marketing.

Good comment and we agree that it is a bit loose but a great step in the right direction for people that have never used a large format photographic printer or want to buy something that will help reduce mistakes when loading different types of paper. We have always thought that there should be a standardisation of paper recognition by all printers but the technical aspects of how this would be implemented is the hard thing, bar code, QR code, RFID etc.
